Great location on Brixton Oval, this is a cool hangout for a beer or a light meal. Lovely, friendly staff which is always such a welcome discovery. Décor is chunky wooden and comfy. We spent a lovely sunny evening watching the world go by.

I like this place. The food isn’t cheap, the staff. are friendly, it’s got plenty of. seating outside. The fact there is a bar in the cinema is brilliant There is. something mildly pretentious that makes me mark it down. I dislike the fact it’s frequently packed. I dislike the laptop users who sit in all day with their one coffee. Its Starbucks for people who. don’t like Starbucks. Its nice. And that’s as far as I will go.

So cheap for a great, quick brunch! Ordered a sausage and egg sandwich with a hash brown. It was only £4, which is unheard of in London. The quality of this egg sandwich was very good! The sour dough bread was quite filling. I also got a small latté which was a surprisingly large size. Strongly recommend this place.

No no no! A beef burger should not be dry, poorly seasoned, grey and did I say dry? Oh my goodness was it dry! The Tommy K was sucked up like a glass of water in the sand box, leaving only dryness behind. I can only imagine that the reason for that level of overcookedness to occur, is if the patties were not made fresh but predone and in the attempt to keep them warm, all moisture is eradicated from sight and well, taste! For shame that you would put your name on something that is so lame. Never again shall my lips nor mouth know that which is known as the«Ritzy Burger»

Decent coffee, nice pastry, nice people, über Brixton vibe. Sit outside on Windrush Square and while days away with your book– from the Brixton Library next door. Then pop up for comedy or down for a film. Also, a fantastic spot for peoplewatching. My neighbourhood. Love.

The Café at the Ritzy has undergone a huge refurbishment, as has the exterior thanks to the council, and is all the better for it. They do fantastic food in here — even great dinners — and it’s the ideal spot for a pre or post cinema meal. They’ve opened the front right up so in the warmer months the windows/doors are open and it’s a lovely place to sit and read and chill and drink and procrastinate and surf wifi. I love The Ritzy. p. s. Try the Upstairs Bar too — another reason to come here more often than you should, and not just for a film.

If you ever find yourself at a loose end in Brixton, the Ritzy Café is the safest and best place to head. although its located in the cinematic landmark that is the Ritzy cinema, it is somewhat a hidden gem because, I assume, most people don’t think to go to a cinema other than to watch films. You can however pop in here for a drink(slightly more expensive than an average café) with no intention of seeing a movie and they also play host to music and cultural events. It is slightly smug and middle class; there is something a bit pretentious about the atmosphere but it is nevertheless a nice enough place to have a cup of tea and or write an art house script if you are that way inclined.

The Ritzy is a well known arts cinema based in the heart of Brixton, South London. The Ritzy’s café-Bar is a great place to go for a bite, a drink or coffee post or pre cinema going at one of the beautiful auditoriums. What they serve is of high quality and doesn’t set you back too much either. I once ordered two large cappuccinos and a large slice of carrot cake and it came to just under £5. Open everyday from 11 am, not only does it serve as a café– bar, but you can go there to watch short films, watch video screenings as well as watch and listen to some live music every Wednesday to Sunday(might I add, all for free!). All you need to do now is to go onto their website and click onto ‘Ritzy café Events’ to see what is viewing.
