Rhodes Bakery

During my overnight work event in Greenwich, I noticed this place, and thought it might be a nice place to come in for breakfast. So I headed over there very hung over and in need of something delicious and some coffee.
I ordered a cappuccino and the mushroom breakfast sandwich. Then I took a chair to wait. I got to see a lot of the small shop from there. They had a lot of delicious looking baked goods around, and I was growing hungry waiting for my sandwich.
When it arrived, it was cold in the middle. I mean the flavor was alright, but a cold egg sandwich is not really want you want when you’re hung over. I suppose I could have sent it back, but I was too hungry and tired to deal with it, so I ate it.
The coffee was good though. Just a disappointment about the sandwich.

Been here a couple of times.
Food — can’t fault that. Ridiculously good. I’m not a baker so I can’t comment on the baking side but it looked and tasted amazing. Which is kind of the point?
Service — ok. Not amazing. Ended up leaving with the wrong kind of cupcake, noticing chocolate icing on the box (ordered raspberry) and going back to change. Then getting short changed… I don’t think this is really common. but it happened so I can’t give 5*
Go here if you like cake.

this was a decent place to pick up some coffees before heading into greenwich park. the market area itself can be pretty hellish if you’re trying to navigate it on a busy day, so i definitely like that this option is here. it’s a nice place too, with very friendly staff. i only picked up coffees and drinks, but the food on display did look tempting so i will definitely return next time i’m in the area and looking for picnic-​in-​the-​park goods.

We loved this place and came every day we had left in London after we found it. Ham and cheese croissants… as good or better than in Paris. Beautiful and wonderful. Even my picky daughter ate well and loved it. I’m so glad there isn’t a place at home like this or I’d gain a lot of weight!

This bakery is right outside my university, and so I often sit in class dreaming of all the good stuff that I want from here. My normal is a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel and a chocolate tart, but there is so much in here you would really want to try it all. It’s not cheap, but it is worth it. They have freshly baked bread, cakes, biscuits, bagels, sandwiches, drinks (hot and cold) and lots more. Really worth it.

Oooh this place is going to be trouble. I might move closer to Greenwich just so it’s within walking distance.
Such a fab little bakery. Really, wonderful. But of course, being smack in the centre of Greenwich, it’s not cheap. I didn’t buy any bread because let’s face it, 80p for a tiny bread roll is extortionate. But that doesn’t stop me from giving them five stars.
And those five stars are mostly because of the mini pecan pies. That are just the right size for one little person (who will be one medium sized person if she keeps eating them). They’re amazing. Gooey, mapley and chocked full of yummy pecans. Perfect pastry too. Heavenly. £2.85 of heavenliness, but worth every penny.
There’s a stall in Borough Market which is why you might have heard the name, but this shop branch means coffee, little benches to sit on and a great little ‘local’ buzz. I came here on the weekend so it was pretty busy, but I’d love to stay and have coffee if it was a bit quieter.
Just one thing though, as lovely as Rhodes bakery is (and I’m really very in love with them) I haven’t quite forgiven them for not putting jam in my mini bakewell tart.

So, so bakery. Their cupcake was a little stale and the frosting was oily rather than creamy. As their displays of baguettes and rolls looks so good. I will return another time to see if it’s worth it.

Situated on a busy corner, Rhodes is an oasis of calm just inches from the constant stream of heavy traffic passing by.
I had a Mozzarella & Tomato Salad Pita, which was delicious, followed by a large and equally tasty Jammy Biscuit. My Americano was served slightly too hot (although I can be overly fussy where this is concerned!), but was full flavoured & enjoyable once it had cooled a little.
The display of fresh bread, cakes & sandwiches was extremely tempting & I look forward to sampling more when I’m next in Greenwich.

I don’t know why I decided to eat at Rhodes instead of picking something up at the nearby market to munch on, but I did. I also don’t know why I swallowed that fly, but I hope I don’t die.
Rhodes is full of delicious-​looking delicacies, namely in the form of fresh baked bread and pastries. I had me a small sandwich. It was mmhmm good. I can’t say it filled up my stomach, but I might say it filled up my my expectations. There were gold sandwiches and paninis, quiches and bagels.
The counter staff was helpful, happily handing over a full glass of tap water upon request.
Next time I’m around Greenwich, I might have to try their pastries. I may seek a job taste-​tasting all the pastries for all the customers to make sure that they’re not suspicious. Yes, I think that sounds like a good job title — pastry taster at Rhodes. Maybe you should run there and try and snag the position before me.
