This place isn’t very good. Decent beer range. But getting served is a proper nightmare. Too small. People stand by the bar. Only two bar staff on normally. Not great. The outside Heater lamps turn off after about 2 minutes. Which is INCREDIBLYANNOYING. This would give them 3 stars(a place which you would go to but not particularly want to). I gave the two stars because they tried to serve my mate a drip tray pint(he watched them do it) and they tried to convince him they didn’t. But he watched. They don’t get 1 star as I do go here a lot. As its my local. But the flying horse nearby is much better. So if you can avoid it. Don’t go here. It’s a ludicrously busy commuter pub that only survives because of location.

Not as crazy as I expected for such a central city pub on a friday night. Oh. apart from the chap on his own who passed out and medics had to be called Five of the most predictable Ales ever seen in one place; Doom, Spit, Youngs, Bomb and errrr Deuch(pronounced like the American insult). Saw someone who I hadn’t seen in years, which was pretty sweet.

Red Lion! The poor girl who worked here was so overwhelmed and busy, they could have gotten one more person to stand behind that little bar and help her out. She shouted at me for calling Bulmer’s Blumer’s, but everyone hates tourists so what are we gonna do about that. The drinks are overpriced but the rooftop hangout was hip and fun, and the awkward seat grabbing competition breaks the ice between close knit groups of people who otherwise wouldn’t talk to each other. I think this place should be a hostel or something instead of a four floor pub, but that’s just my tourist-y opinion.

Traditional victorian city pub with three real ales and the usual lagers. It’s quite pretty on the outside and close enough to Liverpool Street Station to be convenient, but not so close as to by crammed full of waiting commuters. It’s not a special pub, but not a bad one and a fine place if you want to have a swift half away from the hubbub of Moorgate.

Quite impressed with this put actually. After a HORRIFIC evening in the Barbican Lounge, we needed somewhere cosy and lovely to hole up for the rest of the evening. Otherwise our Friday would have ended in grumps. And this pub isn’t exactly perfect. It’s all standing room only, which is always going to annoy me. But, it’s friendly. Really really friendly. Staff smiling! Chatting! Throw in some cheap ale on tap and I’m happy as a clam. If I’d come here on a typical night out, they’d probably get three stars, but this pub cheered me up and made the rest of our evening happy. So for that they get four stars and in this strange Barbican/Moorgate nomansland, I’ll remember this pub.
