I have been twice here in the last couple of weeks and I must say that the food is quite good considering location/price/quality ratio. Both times I had my favourite Malaysian which is Char Kuey Teo and on both times was good, even though the prawns on the last occasion were a bit hard and flavourless; the fish ball slice had more flavour! I still think is a good value for money and I will be going again.

I like the full circle here. The food served here is typical of Malaysian hawker(street) food but this food is usually found in full service restaurants in this country. However, Rasa Sayang Express has returned those dishes to their fast food origins at this location. The parent restaurant, Rasa Sayang can be found in Soho but Rasa Sayang Express is on a busy part of Oxford Street, close to a lot of other fast food establishments. You can get a host of rice and noodle dishes, priced competitively at around £5.99. I would recommend the beef rendang(slow cooked deeply aromatic meltingly tender beef curry), Hainanese chicken rice(shilky poached white chicken served with chicken flavoured rice), nasi lemak(coconut rice served with chicken curry, crispy anchovies, roasted peanuts, pickled vegetables & hard boiled egg) or curry laksa. You can also buy satay by the stick. There is some seating but you can also do takeaway A new offering is apam pancakes sold from a little stall on the street. These are sweet pancakes, which are quite thick with a souffled texture and filled with assortment of sweet fillings — I like the classic crushed peanut. There are also internet facilities here.

This is one of my fav lunchtime places to go. Food arrives generally quite quickly. My avg waiting time is usually around 10−15mins depending on what you order. I usually get the Singapore Fried Vermicilli or the Nasi Goreng which are both around £6. The Ice Lemon Tea is great for summer to take back to the office. Note: The food smells amazing so if you are bringing it back to the office you will get a lot of people hovering around your desk!

This located off of Oxford Street — you can’t miss it. I don’t recall seeing this place earlier in April when I was last here. It’s a sister of a parent restaurant called, Rasa Sayang. I believe the parent restaurant has a lot more options. This location(express) has 16 dishes or so, most of which are pre-cooked to ensure that it is quick service. Most(but not all) of the dishes are priced at approximately 5.99GBP or less. Even if had been pre-cooked, I was pleased because the food was served HOT(temperature), was very nicely presented on nice plates(not paper plates). However, the chopsticks are wood, and the fork, spoon, and knife are all plastic. That wasn’t a big deal for me at all. BTW, the utensils and such are self-service, so once you’ve ordered up front, you’ll grab your utensils and have a seat and wait for your food to be delivered. There are about 5 tables that will seat 4; 4 tables that will seat 2; and a small bar that will seat 2 – 3 more. I was in there for about 20 – 30 minutes, and when I entered, the place was packed. When I left, the place was packed. Typically, I would see one or two tables leaving and another couple of people would walk in minutes later. I ordered the BEEFRENDANG as this was recommended by the gentleman. He noted that it was spicy. This beef rendang is a dish that is slow-cooked with some«exotic» spices and served with rice. It was spicy, as he told me. However, it was good. the beef was soft(not melting in my mouth, but all in all, pretty good). I would like to come back and order the other food that everyone ordered. Everything that was served looked delicious. and I think everyone was finishing(no! licking their plates!!! clean) their plates. Give it shot, as long as they keep up decent service(quick to serve), etc. they will do well here. ***If there aren’t tables, ask the people who work there. I was pleasantly surprised when all the tables for 4 were booked. There was one table with 2 people sitting at a 4-person table. The worker kindly asked them to move to a 2 seater(No, they hadn’t received their food. They had just sat down.)

I was kinda drunk and I don’t remember the food being that good. This could mean one of two things: 1) The food wasn’t that good. 2) The food was good but I was too drunk to notice. But since I’d probably only be inclined to eat at this establishment when I find myself in a similar state of intoxication in the future, I’m going to have to go with three stars. Whether the food falls under category 1 or 2 above is irrelevant.
