Prohibition Bar & Grill

After work on Friday night it was pretty busy inside, but the bar service was very quick and there was fairly high turnover at tables too.
It was fairly pricey, but no more than you would expect from a smart bar in a great location like this. The Docks are nice to look out on, and the pedestrian area outside is pleasant to stand in on a summer evening.

Durch einen «two for one» Gutschein angelockt, suchten wir dieses Lokal in einem wunderbar anmutenden Stadtteil von London auf. In netter Umgebung, mitten in einem Yachthafen, umgeben von weiteren Gastronomien, hofften wir auf ein positiven Lunch.
Service nett, alles ok. Doch dann kam leider das Essen. Der zwar aus frischem Fleisch hergestellte Burger, war leider extrem trocken tot gegrillt worden. Das Filet-​Sandwich versprach vieles und hielt nichts. Zähes Gulasch im ausgehöhltem Brötchen beschreibt dieses Gericht wohl eher!
Es gibt ja noch andere Lokale!

Love the name and am rather fond of the design of the drinks menus and also the location, which is particularly pleasant in summer.
That however is where my liking stops. This is a trendy bar with none of the drinks I tend to like and expensive cocktails. I did find the punch challenge amusing (instead of paying 50 pounds for a bowl of punch you can pick an envelope and end up paying 100 pounds, 50 pounds or nothing) and I wondered whether they had ever had any trouble enforcing that gambit
The place is at least not as flashy and colourful as some bars of this nature.

I have been here a few times since I discovered that they do 2 for 1 cocktails between 4−7pm on a Saturday. The cocktails are really very good and properly made. They have a huge choice, although with the 2 for 1 offer you are slightly more limited. The atmosphere is nice inside, but I like to sit outside in the summer and watch the world go by. Each time I have been there I have found that the service is not very good. It seems to me that they never have enough staff working, as the staff who are working always seem to be rushed off their feet.

Went to Prohibition Bar and Grill on a Monday night at around 10pm and though it wasn’t heaving it still had a nice atmosphere. As it was fairly quiet we had a nice comfy lounge area to sit in. We only stopped in for a drink or two so didn’t eat anything but the menu looks pretty good (think American food.) Located at St Katharine’s Docks the venue looks pretty good. The drinks list is quite extensive with some, for a change, interesting non-​alcoholic options. Prices are reasonable for cocktails (most expensive was about £7 and thats with champagne — mostly they averaged about £5) and non-​alcoholic drinks. The only complaint was that one of the group’s rum and coke was mainly coke.

We went on a friday night. Great cocktails and music but the atmosphere was a bit odd. We wanted somewhere lively and fun for a friday night after work and we were left a bit let down, the bar was quite empty. Hopefully it will get better :)

I visited this restaurant for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It’s part of a strip of new restaurants looking out onto the water at St Katherine Docks — a great location, just 5mins walk from Tower Hill tube station.
It’s deceptively large, occupying the corner site of this block. Nicely finished, with comfortable seats and sensible table arrangements (i.e. not on top of each other) and welcoming staff.
They have a decent wine list and nice selection of beers on tap and bottled. The cheeseburger I ordered was impressively large and perfectly cooked, the chips were just the right side of crispy. The dinner menu seemed to be based on the burgers, steaks and sandwiches recipe for success — lots of comfort food here.
Service was attentive but not in-​your-​face. It did get quite noisy by about 9pm, but we were moving on at that point anyway.
It would make a nice alternative for a drink after work if you find yourself in the area. The view onto the dock is lovely at night.
