this place is super expensive. i got a small loaf of walnut bread from here for 3.95 GBP. it was towards the end of the day, and the bread was already getting hard. i toasted it the next day, and the walnuts tasted kinda rancid. i think the croissants are a bit better.

Poilane is famous for their sourdough bread. From France and they export their bread to the US. But, nothing beats a fresh baked bread. Once, I bought a decorated loaf with inscription on it for my friend’s birthday. Quite possibly the strangest gift she has ever received. At least she loved it.
Superb quality, and pricey too! A very nice boulangerie. I just bought au pain du chocolat. Delicious!

Traditional French bread maker since the 30s, they’ve had such a big success through a very well thought marketing campaign and by opening shops around Europe that they are now a staple and a well known brand for amazing bread. They use traditional methods of baking but always with extreme care. The shop is tempting from the moment you set foot in it, the aroma of fresh baked bread is an invitation to indulge in their loafs of bread, not the cheapest, but certainly the aroma lives to the expectation. They also have delivery so if you become a fan and can afford it, you can have your weekly those of sourdough delivered to your home.
