Pizzetta

Pizza by the slice, love how this trend is taking off in London. Pizzetta is a cute little one tricky pony that serves up fantastic, filling slices of crispy, satisfyingly oily pizza.
Peek in the window as you go by and decide from a selection of vegetarian or meat options. My favourites are the proscuitto and artichoke varieties. £3 — £4 a slice can be a little pricey for pizza but it is worth it. A good tip is to get the sandwiches, made from the same bread as the pizza but packed with mozzarella and proscuitto. A deliciously good deal.

I’ve been to Rome where one of my favourite pizza places had a very similar set up — so you can’t really get more authentic than that.
Despite a rival pizza place being only two doors away, this place does a roaring trade with businessmen and tourists. As for the pizza — I don’t have a favourite as the best bet is to go with what looks good on any given day.

Pizzetta is a relatively new Italian place in Westminster specialising in pizza, pasta, tiramisu and a couple of other Italian delicacies. They focus on the lunch takeaway market, but have a few seats where customers can eat in.
I tried out their vegetarian pasta which I thought was definitely above-​average: farfelle cooked al dente, in pesto and mushroom. I followed this up with their home-​made tiramisu, which was similarly above-​average, and good value at just £1.50 for a 5 cm diameter shallow pot.
More generally, prices seem on the high side, particularly at £3 for a slice of pizza, given that an 11 inch margerita pizza can be acquired from Ecco just 30 metres away for £3.50. On the other hand, £4 for pasta is more in line with local market prices, with the remaining difference more than mitigated by its superior quality.
One oddity of the store is the high-​tempo Italian dance music chosen as background music. Close your eyes and you could easily imagine yourself being in a rave in Italy somewhere.
Overall though, certainly above-​average. I’ll be back to try their pizza and their other offerings.

On the former location of Mange (which was grear), Pizzetta brings «pizza al tranccio» to the beighbourhood. Very good and great value, i will try the pasta next time (or the chicken with roast potatoes). Good electronic music in background, Itslian flavour and service.

A new competitor to Malletti in Soho, this is a pizza by the slice place in the authentic Italian «pizza a taglio» format which is where a large pizza is made in a rectangular tray and sold by the slice cut from it.
Very, very good dough base made with flour imported from Italy, sea salt and olive oil. It is thin, crusty, chewy and full of flavour; though not cheap at £3 a slice. The quality justifies the price and taste experience!
Curiously, the shop does not shout their USP on their windows? They really MUST do this or passers by (and their trade is predominantly pedestrian footfall) will just MISS it. The pizza trays are laid flat so one might not be able to see the sheer explosions of colours and textures at a glance. I suggest the trays should be tilted slightly towards the shop window to make their wares more visible.
