I have only ever been here at lunch times, its often very empty so not much atmosphere. Good place to have a meeting. Food is good and staff are friendly, as its usually empty the service is quick, however, if you want another drink once you have been served your food it takes a while to wave over one of the staff as there are usually distracted.

I have just had one of the worst meals I’ve ever had at a Pizza Express, let alone a restaurant. Where to begin? The staff were rude, seemed uninterested in me as a customer, and as if they couldn’t wait for me to leave. They smirked and frowned and made faces at me every time I asked for something — including the bill. Nobody was there to greet me when I walked into the restaurant, and I had to stand there for several minutes awkwardly waiting for someone to seat me. My chair was not pulled out for me, instead the table was indicated with a rude, shrug in the general direction of it. The main waiter, a foreign man with brown hair, mumbled so much that I couldn’t understand a word he said. The entire time I spoke to him he kept looking at me as though I were a freak. He took his sweet time before bringing a menu over to me, and when he finally did he stood over me glaring waiting for me to decide. I watched him lounging in a chair talking on a phone at one point in what was clearly a personal call, as well. The other waitresses when they came to my table to clear plates etc were also rude and gave frowns to me. When I was ready for the bill to come, I had to ask for it finally after spending 10 minutes clearly done with my food and plate, as nobody was paying any attention to me. And there were only 2 tables occupied in the restaurant at this point — clearly it’s not as if they were too busy! When my food came it was a nightmare. I ordered the bruschetta con funghi to start, and it was served on a plate so small that the sauce was dripping off the edges on all sides. It was disgusting, as well. It was a piece of old garlic bread, with a huge ladleful of white sauce glopped over the whole thing. I’ve ordered this in Pizza Express before and it was actually done well and served tastefully, so I know it is the fault of the staff in this branch. For my main course I ordered the Da Morire pizza on a Romana base — usually my favourite pizza here. It was HORRIBLE. Beyond horrible. Inedibly disgusting. The base was soggy and chewy, the toppings tasted old, the whole thing was presented horribly and looked like someone had just thrown all the ingredients onto a plate. The plate itself was too small for the pizza, and it wasn’t served on the black board that I know this dish is supposed to be served on. When I finally paid the bill and left nobody was there to thank or see me out. Horrible experience.

The food was good. The staff was very nice and served us quickly. We didn’t have to wait a long time for our food and when it arrived — everything was right and delicious. The only concern I had was that it was relatively loud(probably because the restaurant is located inside a shopping centre).

Wednesday is Orange Wednesdays Pizza Express Orange Wednesdays Wednesday day and everyone loves Wednesdays! As usual a trip to the cinema next door(quite handy!) and then we rocked up to Pizza Express. Dough balls and garlic bread to start which were lovely and fresh, crisp on the outside and soft in the middle with lots of garlic butter. Brilliant. I decided after my last pizza fiasco to play safe and go for the Calabrese, which was hot as promised and with a lot of topping. I also got to play with a pizza cutter which is always fun! My other half went for her usual Padana(she promised one day she’d be adventurous and have something decent but I’m waiting for reports in the news of hell freezing over before I believe that…) which she enjoyed, the base was good and topping tasty though there wasn’t as much of it as usual. Service was attentive and my Sicilian lemonade very yummy. It was a bit dark around the table, but not so much that we couldn’t see if we were eating the pizza or the table so it was alright. Anyway, a good night out and a tasty pizza.

On top of Fulham Broadway tube station and right next to the Chelsea football stadium, the location makes this place great to grab a bite before or after a game. However, it can get quite busy on match days, so I would recommend to book on those days. Also, door to door with Vue cinema, it makes a nice change to the hot dog and popcorn. Plus with the many vouchers going around or the 50% off food Tastelondon offer(except on Fri and Sat nights), it is a great budget choice. Other than that, if in the area I would recommend to go to other places since the location is quite enclosed and particularly on sunny days other places would be much better options. Finally, it is quite nice for couples with the small candelight on the table and the small round tables.
