I had been to Picture before and had dessert. It was enjoyable so I wanted to come back and try it. Unfortunately, the savoury courses are not quite as good. Only one of our five savoury courses was outstanding, the rest unbalanced and. or bland. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass though, and dessert was outstanding again. Their selection of cheeses also left something to be desired. Not as impressed as I was hoping to be, so won’t be coming back.

Like several others, we went to Picture because of an open table offer of a 5 course tasting menu and a champagne cocktail for £35 each. My husband and I really liked it– all the food was very fresh and well made, especially for the price. The portion sizes were spot on– I felt satisfied with everything we ate. The staff were lovely as well– and very attentive to allergies, which we appreciated since my husband is deathly allergic to nuts and seafood. The only trouble is that I didn’t feel like the food really left a remarkable memory in my mind. Everything was very pleasant, and distinctly eclectic, contemporary cuisine– which makes me feel like it should have had a bit more of a wow factor. I feel like this could be easily fixed, though– I’ll be back again to see what their winter menu is like!
The interior design was very pleasant and airy. There was large group of 10 – 15 people sitting in the restaurant and the restaurant was otherwise entirely full, but somehow the noise levels never became annoying. This would be the perfect place for a family reunion or birthday/​engagement party dinner.
A final note– on some days they seem to allow you to bring your own wine, which is very convenient if you’re on a budget!

I enjoyed my meal at Picture a lot, for under £50 per person including drinks and service, I had some of the very best cooking in London in that price bracket, not to mention it was a tasting menu instead of the usual 3 courses. The food is contemporary with some creative elements which I am sure the owners had picked up while working under Anthony Demetre of Michelin fame. To sum it up, great value for money cooking in a modern and relaxing setting, well worth a visit.

This place is nice and all. Fancy, decent food and nice staff but it is way too expensive for what it is. The veggie tasting menu was pretty boring. I was still a bit hungry at the end and with some wine plus a bit of cheese we spent £50 each.

Highly recommend! Food is delicious, well presented and good sized portions. Staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely be back.

Picture was a delight when we had dinner there. Each little dish was like a piece of art and was delicious. Although they are small don’t let that fool you — we were both full after 4 dishes. Would definitely recommend this place for all occasions — it has such an easy going vibe it’s great. It also offers a wide variety of food so there is something for everyone.

I came here when they first opened and I could tell the staff were working very hard to make a great impression (which I appreciated). Very personalized and friendly service. Food was delicious but on the pricey side. The atmosphere is modern and relaxed with a great skylight.

We were visiting friends who live close to this shop, and are lucky enough that they frequent Picture, because it is a real gem. the selection of dishes are truly artistic and designed for maximum titillation. Not for the faint of pallet or pocket, but definitely worth the splurge on occasion.
Also, don’t miss out on their cocktails, the bartenders are wizards.

Trying to make a reservation on Friday for Friday dinner has become almost impossible! After several failed attempts to book a table at some hot Fitzrovia restaurants, one of the hostesses actually suggested this new restaurant. I was a bit skeptical, but called them up and managed to get a table at 9. I wasn’t sure what to expect and the name is just a bit odd for a restaurant. Anyways, I was happy to just have somewhere to eat.
The restaurant is on Great Portland Street, and doesn’t have a whole lot going on around it. The interior of the restaurant is simple and quite frankly a bit stark or should I say minimalist. The food, however, was really good! My friends and I decided to give the tasting menu a go and one of the friend has some dietary preferences and our waiter, who turned out to be one of the co-​owners, was very flexible and offered some alternatives.
It was a very nice 5-​course menu. We started with a leek soup which was light and tasty. Then it was a goat cheese, endive and grilled orange salad, which was very refreshing and full of fall flavors. For the first starter, we had lightly grilled cod fish with pumpkin. The cod fish was almost rare and was super tender and fresh. It was just a bit too salty for my taste. The second starter was pork belly, which was good, but I wish there were some crackling. For the main dish, we had both slow cooked venison and rare beef. The beef was cooked to perfection, but the venison was just ok. This was the first time I tried slow cooked venison and I have to say very lean meat doesn’t make good stew. We finished off a very satisfying meal with chocolate mousse. This very delicious tasting menu was only 35 pound which was a steal.
We had a great time and I am sure as more people get to know this place, it will be very hard to grab a table here in the future!

This restaurant is 100% worth the little extra walk to get to it from Oxford Circus /​Regent Street /​Marylebone. My girlfriend and I have been three times now and the food is consistently excellent and the service great. They’ve managed to take a really eclectic but well thought out menu and parcel it into a tapas format in a way that works. Honestly, I can never understand why it’s not busier and definitely recommend it. The value is also very good given the quality of food and portions they serve!

Lovely new restaurant on Great Portland Street, probably hoping to benefit from the new BBC HQ down the road and med-​jar clientèle. The staff are really friendly and help create an informal, and not at all stuffy atmosphere. This laid-​backness is helped on its way by modern design and lots of light coming in from the roof.
The food can be described as modern British tapas, with lots of very delicious small plates. I heartily recommend the watermelon lemonade — it is seriously gorgeous, and is like all the loveliest things you can think of, rolled up into liquid form. Very much recommend, and not too evil on the wallet either.

Despite it’s name, Picture doesn’t seem to have many pictures adorning its walls, but it’s ok, the simplicity of the place adds to its charm. Besides, I think they seem to save the elaborate design for its dishes, all of which are designed to be shared.
To start, the service here is excellent. The waiters are friendly and cheerful and are very helpful about explaining the menu. The restaurant only opened about 2 months ago and I think they are very aware of wanting to make a good impression on its clients! They recommend 3 dishes per person (tapas style) but as the menu isn’t very extensive, we decided to go 2 dishes per person and that was enough for us.
We started off with a dish of goats cheese curd with fennel and figs drizzled with honey — absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Next up was a poached egg with truffled mushrooms, a favourite of one of my dining companions. I thought it was good, but difficult to share. Highlight of my meal was the honey fried chicken with sweetcorn and bulgar wheat… amazingly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside! The lamb ribs, raviolli and chips with aoli were good too.
After all of that, we were stuffed but still made room for desert! Had the mascarpone with English strawberries, and it was absolutely delicious, although I wish there had been a few more strawberries on it! All in all, great dining experience from a newbie restaurant on the block. At the moment, it’s not too busy (particularly on Sat nights, as our waiter informed us) but surely will pick up soon so get in there.
