I live a few minutes away from the park & seriously enjoy the freedom it brings having it so close by. The park itself is huge and has a beautiful ornamental garden which is well tendered to. The park is dog friendly with the benefit of being clean ie no inconsiderate dog owners leaving poo. Overall a lovely park and in my opinion nicer then Dulwich Park.

Many sunny Sundays have been wiled away here with my girl and a bottle of wine. Great for a game of footie, walking your dog or just trying to chill out in Peckham, an area somewhat lacking in open spaces.

Peckham Rye park is great, there is plenty of grass for games as well as a gated area with japanese garden and play areas. There are also loads of parakeets living in the trees here which means there is a flurry of green in the summer and a lot of squawking! There are various play areas, one close to the café for toddlers and younger children as well as an adventure playground further into the park. There is also a skate area for skaters and skateboarders. The gardens are really pretty with lots of nice flower arrangements. The park is close to local bars and makes for a nice afternoon walk. There are running clubs at weekends outside the café.

I lived a two minute walk from Peckham Rye Park for 8 months before I visited it — getting a puppy makes you do weird things like go outside early in the morning and walk through lovely leafy parks, I guess. Benji’s first walk was actually in the snow on the Rye itself, which is just a massive football field. Right next door though is a beautifully landscaped park, with wooded areas, picnic tables, a Japanese garden and a lovely pond where the ducks can hang out. In the summer the grassy areas are covered in picnic blankets and people and there’s a really nice atmosphere there. I’m a Brockwell Park-goer now, but whenever I’m in the area I always try and take at least a short wander round PRP — there’s something a bit magical about the place.

This is the perfect place for young children — acres of green space to run about in, lovely duck pond, great playground and a wonderful One o’Clock club –it’s open from 1 — 4.30 and has an indoor and outdoor play area. Outside are slides, lots of ride on cars and climbing frames. Inside they lay out playdough, there’s a baby area and even a soft ball pit. All free. My favourite park in the area. The café is amazing — all healthy organic food(though I do wish they sold chips even though they’re evil!).

This is a large green space that is a great place for families and anyone really to have a stroll around. It has some lovely sections that range from a Japanese style garden, to a play area for the kids. A large lake in the middle lets you feed the ducks and geese. There is a new small environmentally friendly café in the middle of the park that is a little pricey but you can grab a quick drink or sandwich from. You have to search around for all the hidden places but it really is a lovely open space to get some fresh air. Throughout the year they hold all different events, they do an annual Iris fair, special fetes, Zippo circus all types of things and I hope it stays for many years to come.

Peckham Rye and Common is a sizable green space at the top of Peckham. It is currently being restored in 2007⁄8(peckham used to be posh don’t ya know!!) including the Japanese gardens. Unfortunately, they are not restoring the outdoor lido but sports lovers can make use of the basketball courts which are free of charge or hire out the foorball pitches through southwark council booking office for a reasonable fee. There is a great adventure playground for kids to explore and monkey about in and a visitors centre and WC’s facilities. As yet there is no proper food facilites but the restoration plans may include somewhere for this purpose.
