The Peacock is Clapham Junction London’s award winning 2am late night cocktail bar & club, but with a twist, combining burlesque and cabaret early evening with retro 70s/80s/90’s Djs later on, every Friday & Saturday, to create truly awesome club nights. The styling, drinks selection and service are exceptional too.

I don’t know what to make of this place. I have only been one time but it was one too many. I think it is aiming for a young hip club but falls short. It reeks of mismanagement and disarray. They seem desperate to keep the place open but do nothing to cater to customers (I know they are renown for cancelling group events and stopped advertising this a while back). My experience was short lived– I walked in and after a lot of confusion about where to put us, if we could stay, whether they’d be serving drinks (What? Really?) we opted to take our business elsewhere. I didn’t believe it would have been my scene anyways– I’m not as young as I once was an no longer take anything I can get. I like to think my standards have been raised with age– and there seemed very low standards here indeed.

This place claims to be a cabaret bar? They do have a couple of performances, but that’s it.
It’s full of hen parties, so it gets a bit wild. Cocktails are ok to be fair to the place.
Service is ok, staff work hard, but they let way too many people in, so it’s just impossible to move.
Is it my type of place? No! Did I have a good time? Yes!
I won’t go back unless another friend has her hen do there.

Peacocks and Boas
I may have a been a little quiet recently, but it doesn’t mean to say I was thinking about you all and just to show you how much I care, let me tell you about The Peacock.
It flew onto my radar because one of my girlfriends booked it as the venue for her birthday party.
I wasn’t too sure initially, until she mentioned it was one stop away from me via train at Clapham Junction. Friday night at the Peacock is 80s night and just to add a little extra spice, it also features burlesque performances.
When I arrived my crew were already settled at a reserved table laden with champagne (well it was D’s birthday and she deserved it!) cocktails (strong but delicious) and food –not the greatest. In fact, the food was average enough to lead to a discussion about Iceland party snacks!
The interiors didn’t exactly wow me either — a few glitterballs and a stripper pole, does not a cheeky bar make. However, the smart idea of using one of the walls as a screen to project scenes from ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’ onto it was enough to put a smile on my face ahead of our evening’s entertainment.
‘Cat’ our feature act one, managed to cortort her limbs into positions most people could only dream about, both on the floor and on the pole. The only problem was she wasn’t the classy burlesque act in the vein of say Dita von Teese, we were all looking forward to.
I’d say she was more like a super bendy lap dancer and to be honest we could have done without her.
Act number two clearly had a prior engagement elsewhere, as we learned when the bar hostesses provided us with yet more champagne (always a good thing!) to compensate us for her absence.
Fortunately, the night was saved by the music and my dance crew! If you like me are a total sucker for 80s music, then the Peacock could be just what you’ve been waiting for. From super cheese to ghetto fabulous, the DJ kept the party flowing with standards and long-forgotten tunes, that kept the party rocking.
All in all, we had a great night and I think you would too. So when you’re next in Clapham, why not check out the Peacock.

This place suffers something of an identity crisis. Bar, Burlesque venue, cupcake making, dining, club. It is all too much. We chose this venue, as it is was something different from the usual Clapham offerings. If you look at the website you are bombarded with information, there seems no structure! We chose to go there early and make the most of happy hour, but as the service was so slow at this time we didnt quite make it, even though we had been at the bar 5 minutes before 8, we didnt get served to 5 minutes after. We hadnt reserved a table. Big Mistake. There was only 1 small table left for us, as this place is full of big groups, along with a cupcake making class in the middle of the bar going on. We also enquired about food, they suggest you preorder, but say on the website that you can order on the night also. It took 50 minutes for anyone to even follow up our request for food. After much confusion and to and fro’ing to the kitchen they offered us a buffet style deal. What we received for the next 2 hours were dribs and drabs from what looked like the iceland frozen section. Spring rolls, sausage rolls, cold chips where for starters (I have never had chips for starters but open to suggestions!) then followed by dishes which came out one every 15 – 20 minutes, deep fried white bait, fishcakes, spicy chicken kebabs and burger and finished off with a profiterole and brownie. The entertainment was good. There was a caberet singer who had a fantastic voice, and another gentleman who was a bit more cruise ship, but they both could sing very well. They do the whole calling up people to the stage to celebrate birthdays etc, i must admit everyone looked a bit reluctant. The dj after played the cheesy songs as promised, but there wasnt that many people hanging around too late. I think this is a good place to go IF you have pre-booked a table or any of the classes etc as it does seem quite organised. However it is not an inviting place to ‘drop in’ they seemed a bit too confused by us being there. Plus this place seems to write reviews on itself which instantly puts me off!

We had 2 cocktails in here on a Friday night .
The best Mojito Ive had anywhere ever !
2 4 1 cocktails until 8pm
We were in reserved seating (not for us though) and when the people showed up for their table we were more than happy to get up. The manager was getting the waiter to sort some seating out for us with a small table… How good is that ?
unfortunately we didnt hang around for long but there is so much going on here (so Ive heard). burlesque, cupcake making, not at the same time.
But OH those Mojitos

The Peacock is a funny breed of bar that thrives in the outer areas of London where twenty-somethings frolic and play on a Friday and Saturday night. It claims to be a cabaret bar, but believe me, it’s nothing more than a typical Clapham late-night boozer with couple of performances.
The drinks are strong, v. good, but the place is full to the rafters by 9pm. Saying that, the bar staff cope extremely well with the masses and I never had to wait longer than a couple of minutes for a drink. Impressed? Definitely.
The Peacock is full of birthday parties and hen do’s. It’s a kind of one-stop shop for anyone and everyone who’s celebrating something. Therefore the vibe ends up being happy and attitude zero. Which is always a bonus. The music is cheesetastic and that’s about it really.
If you’re suffering withdrawl from your university or college days and you want a fun-filled night out then the Peacock is definitely for you. If you want your nights out sophisticated, classy and a little quieter then move right along.

This place is probably ones of the worst serviced bars I have ever been to in my life. We had the most disgraceful xmas dinner here and I wouldnt reccommend to anyone ever! EVER. Please do a review search for this venue online and scroll down enough to find the real reviews as the bar manager puts in fake ones everywhere. Awards? I very much doubt it. I would like to see evidence of these.
Please do yourself a favour and give this one a miss.

I have always been apprehensive about the parts of London that are not serviced by the tube. I have this intangible prejudiced opinion about those places … and hence i have seldom visited those areas. However recent visits to Shoreditch and Clapham junction have helped to change my opinion.
Peacock is a bar a short walk from the Clapham junction station. I had brought two friends of mine here for the Unilocal party. They were apprehensive initially because they didn’t know anybody else. But what a time we had !!!
They make good and strong cocktails and i like that :) The drinks were a bit pricey … but the quality made up for that.
I ended up having 4 long island iced teas and a few more drinks and so you can imagine the state i was in by the end of the evening. My friends were also so taken in by the effects of the booze that they resorted to pole-dancing … what a treat it was watching them do that :)
The music was good … although since i haven’t listened to much of western music, i wasn’t as floored as many of the other Unilocalers were.
This bar is now associated with a positive memory … so i will surely try to come back some time to relive it.
