As I now live in the US — I am nostalgic for the croissants at Paul’s. They were so crunch and soft, I honestly am salivating right now for my then Saturday morning rituals at Paul’s. Even though I knew I had to work off their bread and wonderful pastries with extra workouts, it was worth it. For any visitors to the UK, I would highly recommend stopping off and trying it out.

Ordered: Strawberry Eclaire Price: £3.45(I think) Review: Paul’s has been at the heart of my ‘close-to-french-patisserie’ for a while now. Not far off, but the Strawberry Eclaire was a a first this time. The custard in the éclair was somewhat surprisingly tasty. My brother had urged me to buy the Eclaire as he is quite fond of it — not a bad choice at all! Perhaps a tad expensive for the size, but who cares if it makes your day a little brighter, and calorific. YOLO!

For me, no visit to the Canary Wharf area is complete without having a sandwich from Paul’s. The meats and cheeses are always fresh and the bread is outstanding! If your looking for a place to grab a quick sandwich and don’t want one which has been sitting around in a wrapper, then stop in here and you will not be dissapointed. They also have a nice selection of baked goods which I’ve yet to have anything which I didn’t like from here.

The service is infuriatingly inept… and I still can’t stay away. The hype is real, the bread is fantastic. If you are even looking at this location on Unilocal you are probably sitting there thinking«lunch time? dammit. Alright, what can I eat around here» So I assume you won’t need much persuading. Instead I’m just going to say it again. The bread is memorably good here. Just swing by, accept that you are going to stand in a long line and interact with a sub human creature to place your order, and allow that they might screw something up in the process. Because in the end, when you take a bite out of your sandwich(or, I don’t know, whatever you got involving bread) it really is worth it.

I love bread. I love carbs. I love Paul’s! They have a line in their shop almost everyday(And the one in Paris on the Champs Ely Sees had one out the door!!!), so you know it’s good stuff. I’ve gotten the: — Salmon Quiche: It’s better when you eat it hot. Not particularly a fan of it as it was a bit cold when I ate it(I did takeaway), but it was good quality. — Brioche: I don’t even know how fast I ate this– I was in a heavenly daze. — Wholemeal bread– I love that they slice it up in their bread-slicer machine. As if this makes me eat it any slower… ;) — Poulet Pavot in Poppy Seed baguette: The sauce was like a wasabi mustard that caught me by surprise. I’m not a big fan of the mustard, so I kind of wiped out the excess when I could. Otherwise, good sandwich. — Apricot/Apple pastry: I have had both and I enjoy the apricot more. Try to go earlier in the day when it’s fresher. Warning of all the foods above– you WILL get thirsty and you WILL get fuller after you down that bottle of water. But bask in the glory of all that you just ate ;)

When I need a morning pick-me-up, when I know I’m going to have a hard day at work, or when I just need a treat… Paul’s is the place to go! The cakes are yummy(I love the eclairs!), croissants are just as a croissant should be(buttery and crisp) and the lattes are spot-on! You can’t go wrong, really.

Excellent cakes, sandwiches and coffee. Seating area small, so best for grabbing something to go.
