I came to this restaurant on last Saturday and it was really great value. We ordered the lamb passanda and one of the house specials. Both curries were flavourful and very tasty. I really enjoyed the peshwari naan– it was really soft with plenty of coconut-y filling. Also you get a free little shot of baileys at the end which is a really nice touch. I wasn’t wowed by any of the dishes but for the value you can’t really go wrong. We used the open table voucher for 50% off which was really great– without drinks our food came to less than £10 per head. The 50% deal is on for the foreseeable future, so don’t miss out!

Palace spice is a decent Indian restaurant on lavender hill, but not the best in the clapham area. It was moderate prices and generally good food. If you use top table to reserve a table, they often have discounts. Worth a try!

I ordered a takeaway from palace spice a couple of weeks ago. I’m not a violent man and I don’t get aggressive but this restaurant left me with a taste of anger, never mind India. I ordered my usual Indian takeaway staples, chicken biryani, chicken jalfrezi, rice, and a naan bread because I’m greedy. They told me it would be between 40 minutes and an hour. So I waited, and waited… and waited. An hour and 20 minutes in I gave them a call only for them to tell me that the order was on its way and they ‘kindly’ offered me a 10% discount on my next order. I accepted the weak apology and continued to wait. I’m not sure what happened over the next 15 minutes but my mood changed quite rapidly. Clearly the hunger pangs were becoming more frequent so I called them up with an angry tone and was assured the food would be with me soon. I screamed down the phone that they should have had the decency to give me a call and tell me it would be late, and how dare they offer me a 10% discount on my ‘next order’ and be so presumptuous I was going to order from their joke of an establishment again(littered with swear words of course). I then hung up and huffed into the kitchen to open a tin of Heinz tomato soup. I then received another call, this time from the driver, who told me they would be with me soon. Boiling with rage I told him he daren’t come to my door, being over an hour late, and expect me to pay! This call was littered with even more swear words and high pitched threats that I would never order from Palace Spice ever again. As I walked into the lounge with my soup, my house mates went all quiet and my boyfriend asked me if I’d not overreacted slightly. You can imagine how that went. Do not order from these people! They ruined my Saturday night.
