History

Established in 2011.

Outdoor Camping Direct was launched in Stanmore, UK with the idea of providing quality online camping equipment at the lowest possible price. Our boss, Steven, found a warehouse in Birmingham, filled it with camping gear that tested by hundreds of hard core campers, and hired a small, hand-​picked staff team. He sorted out a delivery service that tracked every package, and schooled his employees on the importance of customer service. Then he opened shop online, and noticed something he’s stuck with ever since. If you politely give people quality kit at the lowest price, they will come back.

Business Owner

Steven is an avid camper and a seasoned businessman. He stays directly involved with every part of Outdoor Camping Direct because he believes in hands-​on leadership and accountability. Staying involved gives him a chance to get to know his staff and to maintain a consistent message. It’s not unusual for him to speak personally with customers, whether it’s for a bulk order, or a single head torch. «Everyone matters, let’s deliver,» is a mantra we’ve all heard more times than we can count. Sometimes we roll our eyes, but it’s a guideline that’s become contagious.
