We all have dirty little secrets; like stealing chips from our date’s plate when they’re not looking, putting out posh hand wash for guests and stashing the value no frills stuff behind closed doors or even giving away our secret santa gifts to next years secret santa and I’m not proud of keeping this secret from you all, but feel I have to share. So, I got busted, when I got back to work with a hot salt beef bagel for a working desk lunch, to the amazement of my colleagues they thought that there was no way I could have skipped up to Beigel Bake and back in 10 minutes. Omers, off the beaten track away from the Disneyfication of Borough Market, around the corner from Disney Place, it’s actually a whole lot nearer Borough tube than the eponymous foodie souk. It unassumingly looks like your standard greasy spoon from outside, but they’re actually hiding away a rather extensive menu. There’s traditional café fayre, with a lot of Mediterranean choice; enormous Spanish omelettes to see you through a day in the city, hearty hunks of Lasagne to keep even the hungriest of hedge betters betting and I’ll also bet that the salt beef bagels and soft soft baked bread salt beef sandwiches are the best you can get this side of the river. There, my secret’s out. So #SorryNotSorry I’ve been holding out on you,(but I’ll be very sorry when I go for a late afternoon lunch and find they’ve run out).
