O’Donoghue’s

The worst pub I’ve EVER been in, bar none.
Grubby seats, shiney and sticky with age by the time I left after 1 drink, I swear had picked up a few tiny hitchers!
One of our ladies complained that her vodka and lemonade was actually vodka and water. It was swiftly replaced with a fresh glass of vodka and water!
As a member of our party laughed out loud at the ‘chat’, one of the 3 utterly silent locals sat at the bar rolled her eyes at her sallow-​skinned friend. Meanwhile, the osseous old cadaver sitting with them proceeded to thoughtfully excavate one of his ears and consume the contents.
This was a Friday night
If you should find yourself in a post-​apocalyptic city, where every building apart from O’Donoghue’s has been reduced to ash, and you are being chased by cannibals, then this bar may be for you. Otherwise, find something more fun to do (such as throwing yourself against a wall untill your teeth are loose).

Do not judge a book by it’s cover, that’s what O’Donoghue’s about. The regulars there may seem intimidating at first drink, but if you make the effort to smile at them, you’ll find warm friendly people who will make you feel right at home.
Oh! Try the food, delicious! Maggie’s kitchen only operates weekdays till 7-​ish. Hearty fare and reasonably priced.

O’Donoghue’s is a down and dirty Irish boozer, but the few times I’ve been there it’s been a lot of fun. it’s right by my flat, so i only really go there for a late drink if I’ve missed the goldhawk, but things to know include:
— scary but always interesting posse in there
— great people watching
— they have a massive pull down screen, which is great for rugby etc.
— hilarious karaōke on a friday
Not somewhere to spend an evening, but if you’re passing and fancy a bit of people watching, then dip your head in.

I’ve never walked in, but despite it being the closest pub to me I’ve always been too scared to go on in.
No idea why, but it’s defiantly Irish, dark and erm Irish. Quite possibly the kind of pub I’d walk in and all eyes would turn towards me. But that’s probably just my paranoia.
