The 88 Bar & Grill ticks all of the boxes. It’s clean, it’s well run, the staff are very friendly and the food is very, very good. Understandably, prices may put some people off, e.g. a £12 Sunday roast — which is definitely the best and probably the most popular(given that they’re always selling out) in Kingston — or £13 for a plate of ribs(my favourite meal on the menu)… but id much rather pay that for a quality and service that far exceed that of a place where a similar meal is ½ the price. There is your standard fare of sports showcased on their big screen, with an emphasis on football and rugby… as well as the refreshing inclusion of US sports later in the evenings. With regards to entertainment, they play music in the evenings — pop, rock, hip hop, jazz, a mix of everything really — and have a dj on Saturday nights. They’ve got a pool table, run a poker night(I forget which night) and do a few themed nights throughout the year. It’s family friendly. There’s a smoking section with tables outside and at the back. The 88 brings an air of class to the pub scene in Kingston.

Three and a half stars really — one of the better pubs in this area, with a varying range of beers, some good burgers and chips, leather sofas and some really big TV screens for showing the football. It is quite sports-oriented but is also pleasant outside match times. It is owned by the same people that have the Fighting Cocks nearby; that is there music and performance pub, this is their sports and chillin’ out bar.

This is a rather nice Tup. Really good Ale. Not the best location in town, but that gives it a more of a local feeling, than a chav crowd. The music policy is Rock and many of the regulars are students. Shows the major footie and rugby games. big tables, good games, great wine list for a ale supping pub. Laid back pub with sofas, comfy chairs and the food always smells great. They often have djs perform a Indie disco at the weekends, that never get rammed. This was one of the best stops on the K5 pub crawl I did eariler this year as it was perfect for stopping buy for a pint, a bite without feeling rushed or worried about the other cliental.

Maybe was a bit too drunk to tell if this was a really good pub and as such not the most detailed review. Seemed alright though. Good rock music(and some bad singing from a couple of silly Qypers). Pool table. Big tables so good for large groups too. Would come back here if I was in the area again.

Laid-back atmosphere in this friendly local pub. Comfy, shabby chic leather sofas and a good selection of magazines and newspapers to enhance your chill-out experience. They even found me a choice of green teas, when I wanted a reviving non-alcoholic cuppa. The pool table is pristine and, as Timinator says, the loos are clean, too. The bar staff are tolerant(of wine-infused Qypers) who are reluctant to go home

Large, non-chain pub with plenty of seating, clean toilets, and a pool table that’s not ripped to sh! t. Suits me! Just slipped in before closing but staff were nice to us. Nice place for a pint.
