A brilliant place for theatre lovers to come and browse through a really well chosen collection of books for this area of study and interest. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to help. Plus you can always pick up copies of the plays on throughout London, just to the right as you come in, which can be handy if you follow the London theatre scene.

If you are an actor or just someone who loves theatre then you’ll love the National Theatre Bookshop. The store has photo books with actors preparing for the London stage, scripts of well known plays, and lots of books on acting. A friend of mine, who is an actress, spent ten minutes going through various books on voice and accents and explaining the value of each book. I found myself going through the DVDs and soundtracks trying to figure out if there was anything I wanted to take home. I did find a few books on the play War Horse, but decided not to purchase any until after I’d seen the performance.
