Service — The staff here were very friendly but the place was so busy that I was missed upon walking in the door. However, as soon as the server realised, he sat me straight away and was very apologetic. So service wise this was really good. Location — Stoke Newington Church Street just down from the Town Hall Ambience — Music is loud but still really good atmosphere. I came on Bank Holiday Monday so it was exceptionally busy, but otherwise I reckon it would be equal to a nice medium-sized café. Food — it was okay. But again, the service was really good so it made up for the food not being as great as some of the other Nando’s I’ve been to. It think it was just one of those days that was so busy, that if your food is lukewarm or takes awhile to come out, you need to just extend some grace. Experience — it was pretty decent and I’d recommend giving it a try.

It’s a Nando’s, what more can you say. lovely chicken, even though the hottest variety isn’t even that hot, nice sides, good prices. Down side is the waiting time in evenings for take away etc. so long it makes you wanna just leave. or commit hari kari.

I really felt the need to put this place on the map, how has no one review it yet? It wasnt even a blip on Unilocal’s horizon until I came to sully your screens with my chickeny hands. I’m a bit of a Nandos fan. Chicken. Bread. Cheese. Chips and a hell of a lots of hot chilli sauce. A dream combo. And they serve cider too. Winner. Everyone else around here was outraged when Nandos moved into Church Street. I love the independant shops of Church Street too, but I also enjoy hot hot chilli chicken too much to jump on that band wagon. So instead of boycotting it like everyone else did, I opened the door and embraced the peri peri love. Its got chandeliers, too. Lots of them. So it looks nicer than the one in Dalston. It would have got 5 stars, but I honestly couldn’t justify than, no matter how much I wax lyrical about it. For a start an amazing charity shop was bulldozed to make way for it. Also I and the rest of the restaurant had pretty poor service one busy Saturday afternoon from the badly organised and far too few staff that were working. But mostly I would be kicked out of Stokie if I did. This could be the start of one of the nicest streets in east London getting turned into an average highstreet. Nandos today. River Island and Poundland the next? And thats just plain wrong.

I remember the mass of petitions floating around Stokey when word got round that there was a Nando’s coming to Church Street, a street which prides itself on promoting small, local businesses. It sent a shudder through the local community, i mean what’s next? Starbucks? I must say i have to agree, the generic ‘Nando’s interior is depressing — faux Portugease cheer is all around?! And it just doens’t fit with the other places in the area. Maybe i’m just being a snob, or a hippie. As for the food, it’s OK, pretty standard chicken which comes in three different ‘strengths’, so you can have it set your mouth on fire if you like! Their veggie menu is ok, with the choice a of a veggie burger or pitta, but really this is all about chicken. Great for lads to go and challenge their mates to eat a whole one, i’ll stick with a nice little caff.

Nando’s serves a great Chicken salad, burgers, and healthy deliscious fast food for an affordable 6 pounds for mains, and unlimited drinks for 1.90. The potato skins with Peri Peri sauce are fantastic, some of the best to be found anywhere. There are a number of branches in London, but the one in Stoke Newington has been opened recently. Its inside an old refurbished building, and has huge windows looking out on the street. Its a large space, that can be a little sterile compared to the smaller and cozier restaurants on the street. Its a good place to go with a bunch of friends, allowing everyone to have fun!
