Moonlighting Nightclub

Went to this club about 10 months ago. Took me a while to remember what it was called… OK… the drinks may have had something to do with it.
The music was fantastic, the crowd was pretty cool and accepting. I was the only one of me there and it didn’t matter at all.
The only complaint was that it took forever to get out of there because I closed the joint.
Worth going back.

They charge to get in here. When I got downstairs, it looked about 25 years since it was decorated. There was hardly anyone in there. Don’t bother.

This place is truly awful. And here are the reasons why:
— It is weirdly strict, about everything. When queuing to get in you are instructed to stand single file and face the front (WHY) when you get in you better pay REALLY fast then practically run downstairs. DO NOT make the mistake of standing for so much as a minute (even just to take your coat off) once at the bottom of the stairs, or prepare to be pushed by a bouncer and told «DON’T STAND STILL!» There is also a time limit on going for a cigarette, (apparently) enforced by a whistle.
— The queue for the girls toilet took HALF AN HOUR. And the toilet attendant is really frightening.
— Everyone inside is so drunk and wearing rubbish clothes.
— The sofas are covered in sheets.
— The music is lame. Or what you can hear of the music is anyway, most of it is covered by the stupid DJ interrupting to say various meaningless and embarrassing things.
— I had my bum touched 3 times. And the front… Now really.
— There are lots of people in there whose idea of fun is pushing people out the way for no reason.
— There will be vomit. Somewhere.
Stop it right now.

This place either was or still is a strip club… the décor screams raunchy strip club. The floor is sticky, I was scared to sit on the furniture, and there are poles everywhere. I give this place a 3 star because this was my go-​to spot for drinks. Well drinks were only 1 pound and even though it wasn’t much alcohol, I would just double up and it was still cheaper than any other place. I did dance for a bit, not quite sure what type of music I was shaking my a$$ to but by that point I was just having a good time and dancing to everything and anything. The place was fairly big but never got crowded. I’m just glad it was free entrance :)

Affectionately known as Moonys by most London students, it’s the typical tacky, cheap, mainstream, drunken student night. Only worth going to on a Monday when entry and vodka are £1.50. The staff are ridiculously strict and practically every layer you wear has to be put in the cloakroom. You’ll get told off for standing in certain areas for no particular reason and if your a smoker you have to sit in a line and can’t speak too loudly. They really do run a tight ship.

This is first club where I had to pay £1 entry fee, What a bargain!
So I was here on a Saturday night, you had the bar in the middle of the club and the designated dancfloor at the back with the DJ booth, which was quite small. I thought it was a nice looking club with light draped on the side.
Because of the genre of music their was a majority black crowd. So lets start with the music it started well when they were playing old school 90’s RnB which I loved! Then it started getting packed so we headed to the dance floor when they were playing Funky House, women seem to occupy the dance floor more then the men.
Things were going well until they played an excessive amount of Bashment, if you love this genre of music then you would love this club night. This music brings out all sorts in people so to see three ladies gyrating on each other was gross.
I was not impressed with paying £3:50 for a Red bull… I mean c’mon!
This club on a Saturday closes at 5am. They do special club nights like Nigeria/​Ghana indepence raves or red night.
Overall good night, but I wont be rushing back anytime soon.

Once entering Moonlighting Nightclub, it appears as if you’ve been teleported into a bad 80’s after prom. No one looks a day over 18, the lights are so intense you can’t see, disco balls are spinning, and the floor is covered in leopard print carpet. I kept waiting for everyone to break out into a choreographed dance and to see a camera filming…
While my friends and I could not stop laughing at our surroundings and kept hoping for better music, I will say the 80p drinks on Wednesday night are an amazing deal. So bring a pocket full of change, come already tipsy, and prepare for a night of laughs!

And on the 8^th day (we’ll call it a Wednesday) God made Cheapskates @ Moonlighting.
A place where cheesy music becomes cool again. A place where even students aren’t afraid to say ‘put it away Dave, it’s my round’. A place where the beauty of your fellow reality escapees is directly proportional to the amount consumed — and at 80p a drink that’s a lot of beautiful people.
Granted it’s not the most high end of venues but if total unabashed «dude, where’s my car» annihilation on a budget is your goal Moonlighting is the only place to go.

My oh my oh my…
When you walk in to a club to a leopard print upholstery and a mirrored wall you may doubt the company that brought you there. Never fear though as Moonlightings is a solid choice if you intend to go home without the knowledge of your own name and with your hand on an ass that isn’t your own. This is a result of trying to block out your surroundings by consuming the £1.20 double measures of cheap dirty spirits. The people here get beautiful as the night continues and as the cheesey music hits you in waves insisting your body creates shapes on the dance floor that you really shouldn’t do without stretching before.
So as you can see this is a grotty den, to get bladdered in and forget your life for the few early hours in the morning that would otherwise be spent sleeping.

5 stars… this is if you’re in the mood for it. Moonlighting Tool Kit:
1. an unexplainable desire to get tossed
2. a need for dancing and not caring about the bruises that will develop next day.
3. a good friend named Inie to go with… because you won’t care to talk anyone there, and visa versa
4. your coin purse… because that’s all you need.
5. an attitude that says, «I’m going to rock it tonight… and so are YOU, and You, and YOU! Woo! Lets run home through the rain, barefoot, and make food when we get there!»

If you go in expecting what it is for Cheapskates on Wed. night it’s a good place.
You get drinks for 80 pence with a 4 quid cover.
Good music mix, but by the end of the night you’re so drunk you don’t notice.
Pretty much all students who are wasted within an hour… not a high class place but fun if you’re looking to get drunk cheap.

I gotta disagree Im afraid — cheapskates has been a bit of an institiution since i moved to london to go to uni 2 years ago, for me and my friends.
Getting drunk for a tenner on 80p drinks is always fun for a student, especially in somewhere as cosmopolitan as soho, and when you are with a bunch of indie kids.
If you’re wasted its very fun — especially with the randoms we met at the smoking bit at the back, and the lady (called Sue) blows the whistle like you’re at school when you’re alloted 5 minutes of smoking time is up.
Its gets very hot and sweaty in there during summer, and often outside of term time it can be pretty quiet or doesnt pick up til midnight.
Theres a sandwich shop next door too that we often grab food from on the run if theres a big queue to get in.
The worst points are definitley the annoying suspicious toilet ladies and the OTT security.

Urgh, Moonlighting is all about Cheapskate’s. Three pound entry with an NUS card and 80p drinks all night, which you have to knock back one after the other with grateful relief after waiting itchily three-​deep at the bar. The leopard print, red velvet, mirrors and tube lighting look far better after four or five plastic-​glassed-​plastic-​vodka shots – but no need to bovver with the interior decoration when you have a dance floor of messy students where you can groove around, epilleptically, to indie delights, and wave your arms in the air, like you just don’t care, because you don’t, because you’re drunk.
The doorwoman will confiscate your chewing gum with an almost sinister glee.

Oh wow, this place is awful. Normally a strip club, it also opens its door to hoards of students on wednesday and thursday nights for Cheapskates, a night where all the drinks are so cheap, you know you’re going to feel it the next day.
Not only is it filled with cattle market material, the staff are incredibly rude and the décor is so seedy and sticky, you feel embarrassed to be there.
It’s almost like a school disco, to the extent that if you go out for a cigarette, you are herded out in groups until a whistle blows to signal your time is up. Amazing!
I went here once as a student, swore never to return, but then was beckoned there for a school reunion a week ago. I got my coat after less than a hour, and this time I really never will go back. Horrific.

Insanely cheap, very tacky, and funnily cheesy, this place should be left to students and broke young people looking for a good time.
Thursday nights, the Moonlighting hosts the infamous indie club night Candybox. Candybox used to be a lot better at its previous venue, but I guess this location has its merits as well. Filled with drunk and sometimes underage students, Candybox is usually a messy night. Deals on horrible vodka and beers result in a mass of drunken dancing bodies. On a good note, even though it is ridiculously cheap, the bouncers here are very harsh which means that it does not attract the dodgy types.
Like many other Soho venues, the inside is reminiscent of its ex-​strip joint era with poles and mirrors galore. There are also an array of tacky lights and leopard print carpets to add to the flashy décor. The music includes most of the classic indie tunes together with some good old classic rock.
If you are young and broke, come here for a good time, but be aware that you are likely to feel queasy the next morning after drinking that quality of vodka.

I’m not a great fan of this place, though it is largely not the fault of the club itself. One evening when myself and a group of friends were trying to get in they point blank refused to let any more gentlemen in, I got pissed off and went home and got fined on the bus.
I have subsequently managed to get in though in retrospect I was probably better off with the fine. The whole place is pretty dank and sleazy and not in a good way, the music is pretty awful and the quality of drinks is absurdly poor. That said it is extremely cheap with Thursday and Wednesday nights designated to £1 student drinks deals.
Worth going once for the experience of queing for half an hour for something that tastes like cleaning fluid.

Oh dear. I feel quesy when I think about this place. The drinks are cheap. Very cheap. A pound for beers and spirits. This has resulted in many, many messy nights.
But if you really want a cheap fun night out and can have self discpline unlike myself, then gather every single one of your friends and come here on a thursday night for the aptly named ‘cheap skates’. It will be fun. The music is a mix of indie and pop, just general stuff everyone knows. The décor is tacky but fun, the dancefloor intimate. Just watch out for the bouncers because they are watching out for you too– if you have overdone it, you will be removed!
If you want some hilarious night out memories, and are not too bothered about looking cool, then this is your place.

Ok its 80p a drink! bloody amazing! and yes i got very very drunk! (if your going to go to this club night by 3 drinks at a time! or you will be waiting for ages)
the drink price made it all worth it but they let too many people in you couldnt move! the soundsystem was rubbish and the dancefloor too! the music on the night i went i was forcing myself to dance! i cant remember any great songs from that night
Luckly i was with fellow new Qyper and Best friend Berty VVV
so we had a wonderful time! (probably as we blagged a rickshaw after leaving earlier then expected for a 5er!)
but you where only aloud 5 mins to smoke after Qing for 15 mins! and they blew a wistle to let us know are time was up how patronising!
the drinks are greatly priced so if you do go, go early drink up and be out before half 11 after that it will take you 40mins to wade through the heavly packed crowds of stupidly drunk people to get out!
A fellow student who was in our group we later found out ended up getting his stomach pumped!

I have ony attended this club once on CHEAPSKATES night. It may be a great club normally but this night was pretty awfull. Luckily i was with one of my best mates so it was just about bearable.
The drinks were stupidly cheap, which of course is never a bad thing, but this attracted literally hundreds of people. The place was packed with little room to move, let alone dance. i spent the whole night pushing through the sweaty crowds, eeew.
There is also annoying rules like no chewing gum and no drinks on the dancefloor. I wanted to be outside in the smoking area for most of the night chatting with my friend, but the cig breaks are timed and you get rushed out of the smoking area after a few minutes. There is also a long cue for the smoking area with lots of angry pushing and shoving. So you can’t even escape for fresh air.
If your going to go for the cheap drinks, it is probably a good idea to go early and move on somewhere else when the crowds arrive. over-​all not a pleasent experience

Moonlight Nightclub plays alot of Hip Hop, RnB, gangsta rap d dirty south crump. There are many gangstas and bitches there and it is quite small. However I loved it, this is how I like my clubs to be. It is grimey and very underground. I absolutely lov it tho. The only thing I did not like about it was the prices. The bar was to expencive for a club like this, it rins the whole feeling and leaves you with a slight sense of disappointment.
If you dont like hip hop or anything in that category then you should definitely not visit Monlight Nightclub.
Pro’s: Very ghetto club.
Con’s: Too expensice for its sort of club.
