Mezza Express & Grill

I visited the Mezza Express with my family. the décor was average and there was not much of an atmosphere. I found the manager to be overbearing and dishonest. We had purchased vouchers for starters, main dish and wine. We asked if the wine could be changed for soft drinks over the telephone. When we arrived we were told that we could only drink wine and forced to buy additional drinks. The manager was rude and dismissive. The food took a long time to come. Our starters were of an average quality and the main dish were poor. It was lacking in presentation and taste. There was haldy and meal in one of the meat dishes and there was a fish bone even theough we ordered meat, again the manager was dismissive. The only positive thing I can say was that the waitress provided a good service. I would not go back there and for the price the food was not that good.

YUUUMMM I just popped into Mezza Express for the first time. I work up the road and, although I walk past every day had never been in before SO STOOPID of me. The kindly proprietor organised a special mixed hot starter for my takeaway lunch not oily or greasy and with lovely whole pineuts in it. So good. Am Australian so I miss the abundance of Lebanese food. Highly recommend :) I will go for dinner with my Lebanese friend there and see if I bump this up to 5 stars.

Great food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The portions are huge so it’s also good value for money. We had hot and cold mezze to start which were filling enough on their own and probably would’ve done us as it was only a lunchtime! The main course was delicious — we all opted for the veggie choice even though only one of our party was a veggie, it just sounded so good when the waiter described it we couldn’t resist! I forget what the actual dish was called but it’s basically aubergine, garlic, chick peas and tomatoes all slow cooked together and served with rice. All of it was very tasty and I’ll definitely be going back again.

the closest lebanese place to euston station we found to be in camden town. Granted we would need to get on the tube and take the northern line 2 stops up, but, SO worth it.
My craving for baba ganouj was satisfied in a plate of creamed smoked aubergine sprinkled with pom seeds which gave it such a delectable taste. Add to it a smooth mezza of humus, tabuleh, grilled halloumi (yummm), grilled soujouk and a mixed platter main with unlimited sectioned pita made for a delish lunch for three that upped to £40 (with service included).
Service is good, though for lunch, expect it to be a little slow; allow yourself about 1.5 hrs for a good lunch.

The food is good not great. Though it may be worth mentioning, my standards are relatively high as someone who’s had grandmother home-​cooked Lebanese food many times before. We ordered all the regulars, a few mezzas — tabbouleh, hummus chawarma, kebbeh, fatayer, cheese manakeesh (lebanese pizza), and for main courses chawarma and bamieh.
The tabbouleh was a bit disappointing, too lemon-​y and not the way I usually like it. The hummus chawarma and fatayer were good, and the kebbeh and manakeesh were just okay to me. The mixed chawarma for the main was pretty good but I was not a fan of the bamieh. I had no idea what okra was when I was ordering and decided to try a new dish. didn’t work out! The main course portions are HUGE!
Though the food wasn’t stellar, the service definitely was. We never had to wait more than a few seconds to catch someone’s attention. Unfortunately, this kind of service is extremely rare in London, so it really brightened up the evening! Free bread for the table to begin with, finishing with free baklava for dessert.
The total ended up being around £50. way too much in my opinion. Luckily, we had the taste card so we got a discount, and actually paid about £30 for 2 people. I think I’d go back only with the tastecard.

located in Camden, this restaurant serves authentic Lebanese food in a less authentic but nice venue, not too loud, not too packed.
The menu has all the Lebanese classics, prepared with a little «clean factor» that you can’t find on your usual falafel stand. You won’t have the feeling that your entire meal has been drenched in oil. Every item it served with (very) fresh greens on the side, tomatoes, lemon, salad… Be careful with the size of the portions though, you may be full before your main course! Fortunately the crew will be kind enough to pack your leftovers in takeaway boxes.
The service in general is particularly fast and careful. The waiters are responsive and make your experience feel like you’re the only table in the place.
Coffee comes with a set of free pastries. I’ll come back for sure.
Last detail, as most Lebanese places, it’s French friendly.

Great place, friendly service and tasty food. With the tapas dishes, decide how many you think you need, then subtract two! The house salad is also huge, that could be a meal on its own. The free desserts are a nice touch too, although as always they’re too generous with the portions!

Great Lebanese food at a really reasonable price!
My friend and I decided last-​minute to grab something quick in Camden and we chose this due to their membership of Taste London. Seemed like good reviews so we gave it a try. I’m so glad we did! It was really busy for a Friday with only one spare table at 7.45pm.
The restaurant seems to be divided roughly in two with a glass wall (maybe to accommodate groups) and there is a small courtyard out the back with heat lamps.
A chic host seated us and we plumped for the special sharing menu — a mix of hommous and eggplant dips and breads, cold mezze like tabbouleh and olives, hot mezze (cheese and lamb filled pastires, falafel etc) and then either shish (grilled) meats or, for my friend, the vegetarian main choice of eggplant and rice. The food was so plentiful we were full by the time we finished the mezza. Tactfully reminded by my friend that the ‘main’ options were still to come, we tried it, but had to ask an obliging waitress to box it for takeaway. Luckily, they have a booming takeaway business and tables on either side of us also got ‘doggie bags’. Shame averted.
The menu also came with traditional Lebanese sweet desserts and tea or coffee afterwards.
Mezze starts from £3.95 — £7.95 per plate and mains are from about £9.95, so our £16.90 each for the voluminous special taster menu was great value! Half the restaurant seemed to be trying it.
With the Taste London card we actually got half off again, so this was a super bargain, AND I’ve enjoyed the leftovers for 2 further meals. Contented tummy, happy purse. Try it!

So delicious. We went here months ago when the weather was cold and wet but I still remember it well. I always find Camden a little uninspiring when it comes to eating out, full of chains or not quite good enough independent restuarants. Italian which is what I was plugging for, is rarely the winning choice when we go out (strength of personality being the decider) so after looking at all the menus of all the restaurants the length of Parkway we settled on Lebanese.
A small, unassuming what looks like a take away opens up into a sizable restaurant in the back with internal courtyard. We settled ourselves and ordered a bottle of the house white, a Lebanese wine that was delicious. A settled on an array of meze plates and all were delicious, fresh and generous. The staff were super friendly– I seem to remember they accidentally brought us the wrong salad — or so we thought, we had in fact ordered the wrong one, but they happily replaced it free of charge. When it came for us to ask for out bill they were adamant that we should have pudding. Despite us refusing, full to the brim as we were, they brought us a selection of delicious seasame bites for free.

Very good lebanese restaurant where one can enjoy excelent middle-​eastern food! Being used of eating lebanese specialties, I can highly recommend this restaurant if you want to discover this type of food!

When the price is right, the location is convenient, and the service is not only exceptionally kind, but «authentic» enough to misspell «Main Coarse» on their menu, you know it’s gonna be good. And goooooood it was!
This small family owned restaurant is both attached to and run by the fine folks at Café La Cigale. (Consequently, La Cigale is an absolutely terrifying bug you can see here if you dare:
, and consequently made my dining decision quite easy.)
The desire of my heart (i.e. my stomach) was a delicious chicken shawarma, and though it wasn’t on the menu, the waiter didn’t even bat an eye before bringing «the secret house shawarma» just for me. The accompanying orange juice was literally a tall glass of orange-​innards, squeezed to order. Colour me impressed.
With a name like Mezza Express, I expected a run-​of-​the-​mill chain restaurant. Instead I found myself in an authentic Lebanese tapas/​appetizer café that also happens to provide free delivery. Express Mezza Express, if you will. And I will again and again …

Lovely Lebanese café/​restaurant — far superior quality to La Cigale café which is adjoins and is run by the same people. My friend and I bunked off work for a day and went here for lunch. Sat on a small table outside and got the lunch mezze plus a salad. Everything was beautifully fresh, lots of lemon used on everything and all homemade. The crispy pieces of Lebanese bread on the salad was a nice touch, as was the complimentary bowl of chillies and olives. Lamb in pastry was lightly flavoured and succulent and the houmous very tasty. They don’t have a licence here but you can BYO wine.
