Specialties
Striving to bring the best in service, atmosphere and presentation, and a passion for introducing Handi Cooked Foods to an ever growing audience, we pride ourselves on friendly service, delicious curry and the best prices. We’re also BYOB, and vegetarian friendly. There are daily specials, which are the choice of the chef.
The Meraz philosophy has remained the same since it’s doors first opened, it remains one of only a few restaurants renowned for cooking traditional dishes.
We do not use base gravies in our cooking, giving each dish its own individual, flavoursome taste. On & off the bone beef dishes available as well as daily specials offering the best on the menu.
Dine in a a small and sleek setting, vibrantly painted brick red, and furnished with comfortable designer seating areas and kitschy art. Its simple menu includes freshly prepared Handi cooking with herbs.
We like to make all our patrons feel welcome and relaxed, so although we do not serve alcohol you are more than welcome to bring your own.
History
Established in 1974.
First established in 1974, to serve the then first generation of Bangladeshi, Punjabi and Indian immigrants working and living in London, Meraz Café is one of London’s oldest and most respected Bengali restaurants.
Over the years, as the community settled and planted roots in London, and the reputation and popularity of restaurants grew, the Meraz has seen its clientele blossom from young single factory workers hungry for traditionally cooked snacks, lunches and meals to today’s multi-cultural, diverse and discerning patron.
Today Meraz serves customers from all walks of life, from keen connoisseurs looking for something more authentic to busy office workers in the City, enjoying a delicious lunch at a place that they can rely on.
