A pub down the street recommended this restaurant so we thought we’d try it. The service was excellent but the food was honestly pretty bad. I had a chicken dish in a mushroom cream sauce with roasted potatoes and vegetables. The chicken was over cooked, the potatoes were hard as rocks… the veggies were fine. My son had the pizza and as a 16 year old he should have scarfed it down but only ate two pieces. Then his dad had the ravioli which tasted like it came out of a box and was not at all tasty. The bruschetta was the only food which I can give a thumbs up to. The server did ask why I hadn’t eaten my food and offered me a complimentary drink. He was the best part of the meal and it’s too bad he has to serve such shoddy food.

The service was always spot on and the food was delicious. We went there as the last customers of the night and it felt like«be our guest» scene from beauty and the beast. The food was fresh and delicious and I eat everywhere in NYC. I don’t understand why there are such low ratings. I prefer the food over the pizza but, the pizza was a quick purchase which was very convenient before we went to the movies and left for our flight. I recommend everyone give this place at least one try before brushing it off.

Although we requested a good table in our booking, we were seated at the back of the restaurant. Prices were very reasonable. Ordered wine, just cold enough but then they put an ice cover around it, which was not frozen so pointless, which meant the wine soon got warm. Starter of bruchetta and calamarie: Bruchetta was very poor 4/10, calamari was ok 6⁄10. Mains: the tuna steak was badly overcooked, tasting like tinned tuna. Thew waitress said this is how they always cook it and if you want it rarer you must ask for it. They obviously haven’t got a scooby however they returned with a fresh plate, this time cooked it perfectly. The prawn and ?? pasta was not great — 5⁄10. Service was pleasant and pretty quick so suited our pre-dinner meal.

We needed pre theater dinner and this was nearby. Prices are reasonable. Mushroom risotto was good and flavorful. Clams with spaghetti was average as I felt I make a better home made version. Food service and attentive staff. Given that I have eaten for a week in London, this seems pretty much the average quality for this city.

I went there with a friend on Friday night. I was not impressed by the food or wine. First we were quite surprise it wasn’t busy at all, but now I understand. I decided to have a glass of house red and my friend ordered a jameson and coke. I got a glass of wine(you may want to call it vinegar as it was really disgusting). They brought a glass of whiskey and ice with no coke to my friend. When she asked about the coke, the waitress brought a can of coke, not even another glass to be able to mix the jameson and coke. My friend ordered some pasta and i ordered a pizza. Food was ready in less than 5 minutes(i’m a suspicious person and that makes me wonder how much was actually made before serving time and if it’s actually fresh). The calzone had a really nice shape but unfortunately was burnt in places and the filling and the pastry were bland. The pasta had nothing special to them. When i asked for the bill, my glass of wine was still full and the waitress didn’t ask why. It’s fair to say that I do not intend to go back there any time soon. In my opinion, this restaurant is in an ideal spot and could be great but apparently they prefer to have an empty restaurant which leave a mark of disappointment on its very few customers.

Decided to take in a show at 6:30 and ran in to get tickets. Not wanting to miss the show’s start at 7:30, needed a place to eat and make. Walked up the street and found a few tables available for an Italian dinner. We were seated right away were able to order within 5 minutes. The pasta bolognese was OUTSTANDING. Pasta aldente as it should be done and the sauce I wish I could fine in the USA. No no aftertaste – yummy The pesto penne was equally enjoyed by the younger member of our group. I’m just sorry there was not enough time for dessert, which selections I stared at on the chalk board the entire time there. The only downside was the garlic bread. I think they forgot the garlic. Service was good and we made the show with plenty of time to spare.

I’ve lived in London for 1.5 years now and this was the worst dining experience I’ve had so far. The sirloin steak was so tough — like shoe leather — I could not swallow it. The manager said I was the 2nd person to complain about it that day so it must be a faulty shipment of beef they received that morning. He then tried to convince me to order the filet steak, but I didn’t feel comfortable ordering more beef, so I had the trout on the waitress’s recommendation. It was edible. I don’t consider myself a cook, but I can make fish that tasted better than theirs. The crème caramel was too sweet but edible. When the bill came, the manager acted like it was a really nice gesture that he didn’t charge me for the steak! I had one bite which I spit out because it was awful. If he HAD charged me it would have been robbery. There were no discounts on the bill — not even free dessert. I’ve never had such bad customer service. I will certainly not be eating here again. I don’t know how this restaurant has stayed in business, but I can’t imagine it will for long.

We had a really great dining experience here. After looking at the menu outside we decided to take a chance and go inside. Very friendly service. Very fair prices. Extensive menu. The décor in this place is beautiful. It literally enhanced the whole experience. I had pasta and was blown away. I also tried some of my daughters pizza and it was amazing. I would definitely come back again.

My family and I visited Melanie Restaurant a week ago. I can safely say that I would NOT recommend this establishment to anybody let alone any of my friends. I am being as honest as possible here. Point one, the food was quite awful! after an extremely long wait my ‘Authentic’ Italian cannelloni arrived cold and tasted as if the meat was off, which I’m sure it was! On speaking to the manager, who assured me it wasnt, I was offered a different dish, I declined and asked for my original order, again a wait, again off tasting meat. Meanwhile my good wife ordered a vodka, now being Russian she knows a thing or two about the said drink, and she assured me that whatever it was that was served as a well known brand of vodka was nothing more than a cheap imitation. I refused to pay for the terrible service and awful food. an argument followed, which resulted in me and my family walking out in disgust! Please, save yourself the trouble and DONOT eat at this restaurant.
