I have a thing about maps, they’re so beautiful and interesting; what’s changed, what’s still the same, where you’ve been on them… anyway… The Map House is a real treat. They specialise in world, polar and celestial antique maps, drawn by exceptionally talented cartographers from way back when. They’re just exquisit and begin form the 1400’s charting hundreds of years of imagination and exploration. They’re the type that will need to go behind reflective glass in an old fashioned frame, only to be peered at occasionally for fear of damage. There is also a very well crafted choice of standing globes and last time I went they even had a couple of Tellurian’s much to my delight. Whilst if you’ve ever wondered the stats of Mars are specifically close up, they also have a Mars globe. What more could you want? Every house needs at least one map, but if it’s not you’re kind of thing, then don’t worry, I’ll have them all!

The Map House specializes in antique and rare antique maps, as well as well as cartography over a period of half a millennium. They really strive on selling to their costumers’ maps that are represented in all their beauty and diversity. They also have a wide range of topographical prints. Early city views, panoramas and rural scenes, this are quite cool. You can find a vintage style poster of the Alps in the 40s that can be a great piece to hang on your house. It’s a curious store that takes maps and geography to a new level; at least it did for me. Just going in and browsing is a trip in itself.
