What can I say. I went to Browns for dinner, and was disappointed. So I came back to have my Apple crumble and custard. One word… Amazing!!!

Went here for afternoon tea. Very pleasant atmosphere. Please note that this review is for the G&Team part of the venue.
I found this place by looking for afternoon tea in London in the posh Canary Wharf area. I made an online reservation, and arrived several hours early — planes don’t seem to have their schedules set to afternoon tea.
It’s easy to find and even when so early there, the staff was very helpful. I sat down in the area after talking with the waiter and he promised me to setup a a table in a quiet corner later on. I’ve worked a while there, using the free wifi. The place is pretty busy — more visitors than I anticipated. Shortly before my appointment arrived, I moved to the prepared table.
We were brought an afternoon tea menu and the waiter was knowledgeable about different teas. He was even able to make a tea mixture himself too. Tea was brought swiftly, and the sides or snacks that go with the tea followed a bit later. As this was a business meeting, I don’t have photos of those, but it looked marvelous. Some sandwiches, some sweets and scones. Delicious. Didn’t got the chance to sample everything, need to come back another time.
The corner we were was perfect for the situation, the music was quiet there — they said, they disabled the speaker there — and the service was very friendly, keeping in the background and appearing at the right times. After the meeting, payment with credit card was done swiftly. Please know that gratuities are included in your bill per default.
Later in the afternoon, many more guests show up and it gets a bit noisy, but I guess that’s normal, certainly on Friday.
I would go again there. Service was good. Price was OK for the location and the quality. Location is good too. 4 out of 5 stars because it’s good, but not like «knocks my socks off» and that’s what I keep my 5-​star rating for :)

I don’t ever go to the Canary Wharf area so it was a bit of a trek to get there, but a nice walk from the riverboat stop. The restaurant is actually in the Marriott hotel — I was dubious but willing to give it a go.
We were seated quickly by a pleasant person (a theme that continued the whole time — the staff were all really lovely). I had made a reservation but it wasn’t needed, and he didn’t ask my name when I said I had a reservation. I had informed them through the reservation system that it was my partner’s birthday but there was no mention of it, probably because no one checked the reservation.
The menu is pretty straightforward, with about 8 starters, some steaks, a few main courses, and half a dozen desserts.
Both of us ordered the nearly the same — scallops with pea purée and chorizo to start, a USDA New York Strip cooked medium with bernaise sauce. For a side, my partner got a loaded baked potato, and I had mac & cheese. Neither of us drink alcohol but I could see that they had a nice area for wine as well.
Bread was brought to the table, but no butter — instead they give you a rather odd cream cheese. It was fine, but really, bring me some butter!
Neither of us liked the scallops — they were a bit rubbery and stringy, and very small. Edible, but just not any better than I could do at home. Plus the chorizo was really just too strong for a delicate scallop.
There was quite a long wait between the starter and main, especially as there was only one other table in the restaurant at this point. The kitchen is open to the restaurant, and they have a chef running the pass, so it’s at least entertaining. We did hear them doing room service food as well, which might have accounted for the delay.
Our steaks and sides came and looked very lovely. The meat tasted good, but mine was overdone — a shame as it made it a bit hard to cut. It wasn’t tough when I ate it though, so I wonder if the trendy knives just aren’t quite up to the job! The other steak had some pink so maybe I was just unlucky. The menu quite clearly says that medium rare has a slightly cool red centre, and that medium had a warm pink centre, so I was expecting it to be pink throughout. My partner’s loaded baked potato came plain, with a side of sour cream topped with bacon. He said there was a lemony taste to the sour cream, but he liked it and the potato was fluffy and didn’t taste microwaved. My mac & cheese was very, very cheesy. I would have preferred it a bit looser/​wetter but there’s no denying that it tasted nice.
For dessert, I had key lime pie, and my other half had a warm pecan pie. The key lime pie was very, very tasty — a light lemon-​yellow colour with slivers of lime zest, tart and delicious. It came served with a massive pile of clotted cream. I would have rather it had been ice cream! The pecan pie was tasty but could have used more of the squishy middle. He also would have preferred a scoop of ice cream instead of the clotted cream. To be fair, the menu did say clotted cream!
The bill for 2 with no alcohol (just 2 glasses of pepsi) and a tip was about £60 per person, so not a cheap night out. The restaurant was getting a bit more atmosphere as we left around 8pm.
To summarise, the steak was good quality, the service good and efficient, but the starter was a let down, and a bit more attention should be paid to the steaks — an overcooked steak can’t really be saved and makes my carnivore self weep

I was quite impressed with the attention we got as soon as we came through the door. The manager spotted us, quite far away from the occupied tables, and he strided over to give us a good welcome. We were taken to a nice table for two and given menus without fuss.
We both ordered rib eyes: my wife had an 8oz rib eye cooked medium rare, while I had a 10oz one cooked medium. The steaks looked like they were cooked to the same level, but I was happy with mine. I have had nicer steaks, though, at some of the other chain restaurants for similar prices.
My wife was a bit peckish, so she also got the clam chowder to start. It was quite chunky and more bacon than clam.
We ordered fries and a macaroni cheese for sides. The fries were McDonald style, but a bit on the blond side. The macaroni cheese had a great cheese crust on top, but the rest of it was more subtle.
It was £85 for the dinner (including a glass of sparkling wine for my wife). A bit on the high side, but this is a restaurant attached to a hotel in the Canary Wharf area.

We came here on a whim after the movie after nearby. We have been eyeing this place for some good American meal. At first we were enticed by the special deal of £15 for 2 course or £18 for three course meal. Unfortunately we arrived just before 9pm which is 1 hour after the special ends (8pm). Nevertheless, we still went in to satiate our craving.
Upon entry, the ambiance as a result of dim lighting exudes an air of tranquility and romance. Its quite a nice place for impromtu dinner date me thinks. As for the service, the staff were attentive and quick. Our drinks and food came in no time. My husband and I each both had their burger and fries. I must say that it was very much American size and portioning. The sesame seed bun was humongous and the meat patty was thick and juicy while the fries were actually skinny. Our meal really filled us up to the rim. Although, I feel like the burger could be better with a little sauce in it but otherwise everything was all good in this hood.
