Maco Hair London

This has been my third visit to this salon and I thought I’d write a quick update. Maco is now called LAB61 as they are expanding with additional salons in Kensington High Street and Battersea. Good for them, even though it means ever changing stylists at my local branch.
It’s a shame that repeat visits are never quite as special as the first time, but the level of service is consistently high. I quite like the fact that all staff are Italian (they make an effort to speak English not just to customers but also to each other — top marks) as this translates into stylish hair and good coffee.
I’ve had a different colourist on each of my visits, the first time I was a bit unsure about a trainee being asked to help out, but I’ve come to appreciate the fact that this actually leads to a much faster job overall. Shame that they were so busy this time that some of the saved time was lost again. Still, it’s a good sign to see a salon this busy on a Monday afternoon with customers of all ages.
This time I had a do to go to in the evening and was happy to have my hair properly blow dried and curled — made me feel very glam! All that for under £80 — may even book a blow dry in between cuts and colour …

Sometimes a panic can lead to a happy ending. Maco saved the day for me today when my appointment with my regular salon was cancelled without warning. I didn’t have time to reschedule and decided to walk down Portobello Road and check out the first hairdresser’s I’d come about. Not an easy feat as many salons still take Mondays off …
Not only was Maco open for business, they could fit me in within an hours of walking in — and they had a special offer on colour!
I can’t remember being made feel this well looked after before (I’m always a bit nervous, having experienced my fair share of hairdressing disasters over the years …). Proper Italian coffee to start, a professional consultation, perfect colour, excellent cut, the best blow dry, lovely team, great service.
They wouldn’t let me go until I wasn’t completely happy — what a shame it was only Monday and my glamorous locks were wasted on a trip to the supermarket.
My first choice from now on, highly recommended.
