A serendipity we had in London! Love the andouillette here. The waiter said many people came here just for the dish.

Pre-​theatre dinner treat. Busy French restaurant in the heart of Convent Garden. Classically styled. Service was pretty good — although our starters could have arrived sooner. I had fresh rock oysters to start which were great, served with a Mignonette sauce and my other half had a very delightful cauliflower soup. The baguettes fresh and delicious. I opted for the bavette frites for my main which was expertly cooked. My dinner partner had a small serving gnocchi which was also very good. Accompanied by some wine conveniently available by the carafe. Pricing was reasonable although I thought the wine was a little expensive for what it was (but where isn’t in central London?). Service could have been a little quicker but we’re only quibbling due to the show. Overall, I would come back and save time to try the deserts.

Recently reopened 2 months ago, the duck confit was amazing. Cod fish was excellent also.
Kids chicken with fries, was fantastic. Actually ½ a small chicken grilled. Good size for one child. Kids menu includes a dessert, which can be the daily tart.
I got the 4 mini desserts with coffee option. They were all delicious.
Service was excellent and our wine glasses we’re getting constantly topped up. I would definitely come back if I lived here.

Great Prix Fixe deal. Staff were very accommodating when I mentioned I was in a rush due to a meeting and they made sure the service was quick. Incredible tasting chicken, the gravy and marinade made the dish very moorish. Portion size was maybe on the small side, but saying that I am usually a big eater. (Visit — 15/​09/​2014 Lunch)

Fantastic French restaurant with a real bistro feel. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, but that’s fine when they have such a robust wine list to occupy your time! The food was really lovely and I enjoyed it. To start we shared Saucisson, which has so many amazing meats; most notably the Pâté which was like butter in your mouth. I had the entrecôte béarnaise, which was good, but the meat was a little fattier than I would have preferred for £24. Also, the waitress mixed up my steak with my husband’s, which was a little annoying since she played musical plates between the three of our plates and still got the temperature wrong. Either way it was resolved. For dessert we shared the apple tart Tatin with some vanilla ice cream. The crust was nice and crispy and it was so warm and gooey inside with a hint of bitterness. So good! Authentic French restaurant with great ambiance and ok service!

I went to Les Deux Salons because their website (
) offered pea & mint soup, duck confit or cod fillet, ice cream and a glass of wine for 19.75 pounds (
). When I arrived there I found that the «Prix Fixe» menu did not include duck confit, cod or a glass of wine and it cost 20 pounds. The pomegranate and hazelnut on my starter surely cost less than it cost Les Deux Salons to wash the dish. My main course was a tiny bit of very fatty, overcooked lamb. The dessert of strawberries, chantilly and sponge cake was the only decent thing they served. My 125 ml glass of wine cost 4.25 pounds. They added insult to injury by adding a 12.5% service charge. Don’t be cheated by false advertising on their website! Stay away from Les Deux Salons!

I like this place because:
— it’s possible to get reservation
— lively atmosphere
— affordable (not cheap, but reasonable)
— most dishes are delicious
— perfect for pre/​after theatre dinner
Came here 3 or 4 times and it’s always a delightful experience.

A good place gone bad.
What a disappointment. I have been here several times and found it reliable and enjoyable. A traditional French bistro in the West End was like a little piece of Paris in Central London. The usual french menu favourites were on the menu and one could tuck into a good Duck Confit.
But my recent visit, I confidently recommended going with a friend of mine thinking we would enjoy a hearty lunch. Instead the new menu was like that of a tourist steak house. Gone were the traditional favourites and in its place were hot dogs and hamburgers? What??? While it did have some French menu items they were overshadowed by the prominently featured steak list which had USDA meat and not a Steak Frite listing in sight. I ended up ordering the liver which was too salty and just overall not up to par. It was all such a let down we couldn’t be bothered with dessert.
The service seemed dazed and confused. It took two people to figure out I had a reservation, and when seated the hostess seemed unsure with the process of welcoming me and settling me into the table. Then it took a while before anyone approached the table to ask for drink orders.
While not terrible, overall the dining was a very unsatisfying experience. What a shame as I liked it in the past. But next time I crave a bit of Paris, I might try Balthazar just down the road in Covent Garden.

French style bistro in the heart of tourist land.
The quality of food is of the highest standard. I would highly recommend the snail and bacon pie as a starter.
The fish of the day was hake served with perfectly cooked (slightly crunchy) asparagus, beautifully prepared and extremely tasty.
Service is excellent and value for money is good. A 3 course meal for 2, with a bottle of house red will cost you around £100 inc VAT and service.
Well worth it in my opinion.

It was a fairly busy Saturday night but we managed to get seated promptly.
Very nice interior design, very ‘Art Deco’.
Their margarita is quite good!
I ordered the ‘foie gras terrine’ with toasts and chutney, and we shared the ‘rib of the beef, off the bone’ with one of my friends.
The beef was excellent, perfectly cooked and tasty.
However, their French fries lacked flavor, and the foie gras was below average.
On top of the average food, the service was slow.
I would rate it a 3.5 stars.

We arrived half hour early however, they accommodated this without any problems. Although we were advised, on booking, that there was a 1.5 hour turnaround on the tables, we were not prepared to be rushed. However, we did feel a little harassed at first but once they realised we were going to move at our own pace, they backed off a little.
We started with a cocktail which tasted a little weak and I have definitely had better. There was no wine list given initially but when we did order it the wines were fairly pricy. Having asked what the house white was, we were brought the bottle and poured for us. ‘OK, so we will have that then shall we?’ The bottle arrived with no label so still not too sure what we drank there. It was just about passable.
We had the goats cheese and beetroot salad for starters. The goats cheese was light and creamy so was not overwhelming the dish as it can do sometimes. The starter was nicely presented. I then had my main of cod and purée pommes. The cod was cooked nicely. Soft and flakey and smooth purée potato. I enjoyed this dish. My friend had the lamb which was lovely and tender however, the potatoes were not and so undercooked that couldn’t be eaten. This was the only let down on the meal.
As always, I had to have dessert. They had a great selection of desserts which was a challenge to decide. However, I think I opted for the right one and ordered Paris Brest –Choux pastry with praline cream. This was yummy, yummy, yummy and would definitely eat it again! One of those desserts where you want to savour it and eat it slowly however, you don’t because you want to keep on putting more and more in your mouth. Yummy! It certainly finished the meal off nicely.
Serving staff were pleasant enough. Given we overstayed our 1.5 hours, we were not moved on or made to feel like we had overstayed our welcome.
Not sure what is going on with the stairs to the toilets as we notice at least 2 people stumble on them with on lady left on her knees in front of our table! They might need to check something there!
All in all an OK evening but need to be prepared to pay a little more on the drink front.
The restaurant is far enough away from the busy Covent Garden and Leicester Square but close enough to feel part of it. It is close to Embankment and Charing Cross station so easy access home after a night out.

Beautiful restaurant, great service, and most importantly, very good food for the price.
Excellent steak tartare, beautiful décor, good drinks, a good bar and great location. What more can you ask for? Oh, a great 20 pound prix fixe? They have that.

This is a very nice restaurant. It’s set up as a French brasserie, though the food is more like French-​inspired British food (for example, cod with mushy peas). The menu is pretty big, and the prices are reasonable. Service is good, not great. The atmosphere is nice, and the décor is good. It is actually really spacious inside. I’d go back.

The 3 course meal special was quite reasonable, and the steak frites and lemon tart were both excellent.
A bit of a touristy/​theatre locale, which is typically not up my alley, but this is well executed.

I am a bit of a salad snob… I judge restaurants mostly based on the quality of their lettuce and how home-​made their vinaigrette is. it s not fair, it’s not holisitc, but it’s my yard-​stick and works well for those that make good salads. Les Deux Salons is touristy and expensive. The entrée I had was decent, but their house salad was fantastic… the best Ive had in London, lifting it to 4 stars.

Really cool French restaurant near Trafalgar Square. So many of these fancier London restaurants now have Lunch Specials or «Meal Deals» where you get a three course meal for around 15 pounds ($ 23)…very similar to our Restaurant Week in NY, but this is just all the time. Fine dining for everyone!
I loved the space… it really does evoke a beautiful French brasserie, with lots of ornate detailing along two floors. And the food is outstanding. I had a soup appetizer, a fish meal, and the cheese plate for dessert. Wonderful!

Went for my moms birthday after having some very strong martinis at the Connaught hotel bar. Was pretty lit already, and of course, I ordered a beer as we sat down, a bottle of champagne, and perhaps some other dumb booze.
Food as usual was without criticism. I had foie gras pâté starter (which was basically fois gras shoved into a pan form, and not a traditional pâté) which was served with spears of crispy mini-​baguettes. It was absolutely delicious.
I had the steak frites for my main which was very good; I love their frites, and the steak (bavette or something meaty like that) was perfectly cooked and served in a cast-​iron dish with some sauce.
Service was great despite me being sort of a tool — we sorted it out by the end and were exchanging «jokes» later on (i.e., me being sort of rude and her calling me out on it).
I love the room, and always really enjoy eating there — its a shame they took off the lamb sweetbreads from the menu because they were the best I’d ever had.

Another top notch place to dine in London — definitely worth a visit should you find the opportunity. In fact, don’t wait for the opportunity to arise, this is something you should go out of your way to experience. Les Deux Salons is a French brasserie in Covent Garden, owned by the same people as Arbutus and Wild Honey, two Michelin starred restaurants also in the capital. Les Deux Salons only opened recently but have been doing extremely well, and my experience there revealed why.
It’s another one of those places that take your hat and coat from you as you enter — a perfectly nice touch — makes you feel a bit special (in my modest opinion anyway!) Crossing the threshold, it struck me are how lovely the layout was, which I think inspired the restaurant’s name: there are two levels, upstairs and downstairs, but they are not completely separate like in most restaurants as the square-​shaped ‘hole’ (for want of a better word) in the ceiling connects the two storeys together, and I think it made for quite an elegant and stylish touch. Aside from that it does indeed look like a traditional Parisian brasserie, right down to the waiting staff who look very smart in their red ties and white shirts.
As soon as you sit down, a basket of bread is brought over with butter, and what is better is that the bread is still WARM, oh so tasty. And even better still — if you’re a hungry munchkin life myself who eats all the bread within the first 5 minutes, they replace it for you! The waiting staff were very polite and accommodating. As our starter arrived we asked if we could move tables and they made no fuss in the slightest and helped us over.
The A La Carte menu here is very exciting, there were some very adventurous offerings that I felt I just had to try, however there were some more conventional options for the not-​so-​bold. We decided to begin by sharing «warmed smoked eel, beetroot tart with horseradish cream» and «Herefordshire snail & bacon pie» which confused me a bit if I’m honest — pretty certain that snail & bacon pie isn’t a Herefordshire speciality, maybe I’m wrong. Or maybe, just maybe, snails from Herefordshire taste better. Or maybe I’m just being an idiot.
I’d never eaten snails or eel before, and I was impressed with the both of them. I can’t honestly say I ‘enjoyed’ the snails (couldn’t get the image of slime out of my head) but I would definitely try them again, especially in a pie with bacon, because that really was a nice touch. To follow I had ‘Seabass, Savoy cabbage, smoked ventrêche with rosemary scented sauce’ which was DELICIOUS. It can be really difficult to cook seabass properly but this was done perfectly. My father opted for ‘slow cooked ox cheeks, salsify, watercress & bone marrow salsa’ which actually tasted so much better than I expected it to. I never knew oxen would have such scrumptious cheeks…
We were far too stuffed to even contemplate the dessert menu, but I did have a very nice coffee, if that counts?
It really is a first rate restaurant. The only thing holding me back from 5* is the slightly limited selection on the menu. There was a mixture of the unusual and the not-​so-​unusual, but I would have liked a little more variety. Perhaps a couple of dishes that weren’t so fussy? But maybe that’s just me being picky.

A classy place to take a girl if you want to impress her, recommendable for a fancy night out. The venue was quite pretty and romantic without being one of those ridiculously dim-​lit restaurants where you have to try to read the menu with your cell phone light. Large mirrors lining the walls and Parisian style lamps to accompany the French name.
The food was hit or miss. The sea bass was delicious. perfectly cooked and the savoy cabbages were juiced in bacon. The roast saddle of rabbit was funky and unappetizing. two round blobs of inedible meat/​fat. Luckily, the service was truly excellent, so we sent the rabbit back and asked for another order of sea bass. The waiter was completely accommodating and the new dish came within minutes.
The damage at the end was pricey, especially considering the relatively tiny portion sizes. It was a birthday dinner so one of those «don’t pay attention to prices» meal and luckily my boyfriend spoils me; otherwise I would’ve had to look into selling a pair of sevens or a chunk of my hair or something.

When looking for some place to eat one Saturday night while staying at the St Martins Lane Hotel, I kept seeing references to Les Deux Salons as «must eat here» place in London. And to my surprise, it was around the corner from my hotel. It was my observation that there are not too many unique dining options in the Covent Garden area, so I was excited to find this place.
The space is very nicely decorated and has a nice combination of upscale sheen and neighborhood French bistro. It has high ceilings and an open feel, but still remains very cozy and welcoming. Upon entering during a Saturday evening dinner service, I was impressed with the buzz and liveliness of the place. The dining room was packed, so I sat at the bar. The bar staff was excellent. They were not only attentive and engaging with the bar guests, but they were also very good at making all kinds of weird drink concoctions in stride with no fuss at all.
I was going to order wine, but got a Plymouth and tonic and ordered the Scottish beef cheeseburger. I know that is lame in a restaurant with such good food, but I could not resist. The burger was cooked perfectly to order, the bun it came on was excellent, the chips were hot & fresh — in short the whole lot was delicious.
I am very happy I ate here as the food and service was excellent. Next time, I am going try something French.
