Le Pain Quotidien

Almost first customer i came at 08:03 am. The place is nice, clean and good sized. I had scramble eggs with salmon, classic but nice.

I get my morning caffeine fix here. With a side of fruity bread thingy! I’ve been buying the stuff for years and I still don’t know the bloody name of it … The staff seem to always know what I’m talking about so hey … Lol

Just perfect! I took the farmer brunch and everything on my plate was fantastic and tasteful.

I have never seen such an uncoordinated staff in my life. They were all running around withiut really doing anything. Getting seated, getting a menu, paying and most importantly, getting our coffee, took ages! On top of that the prices are unreasonably high. 3 pounds for a croissant? In any other country, people would refuse to pay that much. I’ll not be returning here!

Delicious and fresh ingredients, and a really calm and relaxing atmosphere. It can get pricy if you get a drink but it’s somehow worth it when you can relax and catch up with friends over a couple of hours without being disturbed.

A gem. My wife and I enjoyed a lovely lunch after visiting the Portobello Road Market. Excellent food, good service, free wi-​fi… and seemingly the only restaurant in London that serves iced tea.

I used to be a big fan of Le Pain, not in US though. I found this in London at first and actually they serve little bit differently. Brunch during weekend can be busy, but yeah, worth going and trying their food. I also like their pasties, but I don’t have it because there’s always something else I want more. I hope they have more dessert like menu, because that’s how I become a fan of Le Pain. Oh and I gotta say that I like the interior design too

This is one of my favorite Le Pain locations. Clearly, other Unilocalers agree.
It is two-​stories with plenty of different sized tables to suit your needs. Wifi is available for free.
The coffee is served extra large. Ordered a medium cappuccino, I received a jumbo bowl. I couldn’t finish it all before it got cold.
Take-​away options are exactly the same as the main menu!

The perfect spot to spend a Sunday morning. I met a friend here for coffee but we got a cake fiesta going. We tried four types of them and they were all heavenly.

I love this le pain quotidien location. It has 2 stories with more than enough seating, not to mention floor to ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light. It is great for people watching and good for doing some light studying or reading. If only they have chairs that are more comfortable …
I like that they offer large bowl café au laits, but did not think their Belgian waffle was worth the price.

A lovely branch of this French chain. I like Le Pain as it is reasonably priced and the cakes are pretty up there. The open tartine as well; such a lovely idea and all those cold cuts and fishy platters are perfect for the London sunshine! The highlight of my meal this week was the Flute (long very thin baguette style bread) topped with Camembert under the grill with honey! Simple but so rewarding and a plum tart… ohhh the buttery, marzipan biscuit base! Thumbs up!

Un petit endroit hors du temps sur Notting Hill, ou prendre un café devient un moment de pure détente. Personnel très sympa, la nourriture est très bonne! Je reviendrais sans problème déguster des oeufs coques accompagné de trois sorte de pains:)

The Bakewell tart here is the best I’ve ever tasted in my life. So good that it made me consider 2 things:
1) I really should start a food blog since I didn’t think much of the rest of our meal at PQ, but I want to go on and on and on about the amazingness of this bakewell tart.
2) (considering this is brunch no.2 of the day and I am supposed to be on a diet) How can I sneak another one of these home for tea later?
So back to the amazing bakewell tart. The shortcrust was crumbly, crunchy and buttery– just what amazing crust should be. Topped with a layer of jam. Topped with a heavenly layer of light, not too almondy of almond sponge. Topped with a perfect amount of icing and a glacee cherry. Oh my Gods, I want one now.
Anyways, my tart tartine was disappointing, and I thought drool monster’s scrambled eggs were a little overcooked. Others polished off ham+cheese croissant (v small) and pâté (generous) with no offer of tasting.
Urm, yes. The Bakewell Tart wasn’t actually mine… but it was so supercalificiously delicious that I could be eating it in a tent 20,000 miles under the sea and I will still be in some food nirvana.
Bring a laptop. Everyone else had one. May be they gave them out? I don’t know.

We stopped here first after getting off the Oxford bus, highly recommended by my friend. We had about an hour before we had to jump on the underground to make it to Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guards. Service was great in getting our food and bill to us in a timely manner. My croissant with gruyère and tomato was light and flavorful. It was so good that I made the same thing when I got home! Needless to say, we got to Buckingham Palace on time but the crowds were so thick that we couldn’t see anything. Boo…

I like coffee.
I like bowls. (Honestly, whatever food I’m eating, I’d likely rather be eating it out of a bowl. The sides are just so ideal for scoopage.)
Therefore, a coffee served in a bowl the size of my face is heaven… I just have to figure out a way to drink it all before it gets cold. However it’s not the bowled-​coffee that sets this Le Pain apart, but rather the nice and light upstairs seating area and smokin’ fast internet that makes this a perfect meeting point for meetings in the west of London.
Tasty breakfasts (I highly recommend the porridge with bananas, berries and nuts), aforementioned bowled coffee/​tea and great sandos to go make Le Pain a delightful any-​time stop in my book.

Ok, so this is unlikey to be an unbiased review, Le Pain kept me sane while we were living in New York (there are several in Manhattan), as somewhere I could always find great organic vego food amongst what felt like a field of steak houses.
This particular spot is one of the larger Le Pains, which is just as well given that we visited on a rainy, school holiday lunch time on our way to the nearby museums. The service was friendly and efficient, the tomato tart wasn’t quite what I was expecting (I was thinking quiche, not tomato on puff pastry) but was tasty and quickly devoured by myself and my toddler.
Reasonably kid friendly, you can always fall back on fruit or their excellent bread if your little one is having a particularly picky day, though there is plenty on the menu that should tempt them.
Great place to go in the mid morning or afternoon to just sit, drink tea (and scoff rhubarb crumble) and read a book…

We went here just for a quick coffee and a tea and were very pleased. The place is really nice and you can appreciate how they care about details. I ordered an organic herbal infusion of red fruits, that came in a teapot, sufficient for two very generous cups. It was great with the demerara sugar lumps. Even the bathroom is nice! They had Aveda hand soap and moisturising milk, scented with rosemary and mint. I will definitely be going back to try the organic food, that looked delicious.

I like Tabasco sauce on my scrambled eggs. In a pinch, any hot sauce will do. Is that a crime? Apparently yes at Pain Quotidien, because the waitress looked at me as if I had just peed on the sidewalk when I politely inquired if she might bring me some. The cook actually came to my table to ask me if there was something wrong with my eggs. Why else would I want to dose them in that foul sauce? Needless to say, there was no hot sauce in the building.
This is one of the larger Pain Quotidiens in London, and the best part about it is the large windows and sunny upper floor. Unlike many of the smaller branches, they serve scrambled eggs with a variety of sides (note: don’t get confused by «scrambled eggs with mushrooms» — it means scrambled eggs with a side of sauteed mushrooms, not eggs and mushrooms scrambled together). Scrambled eggs are not the trickiest dish in the cookbook, but these were none too great. They also serve the signature ginormous (yes, that’s a word in my dictionary) lattes that come in cereal bowls. Best enjoyed with brown sugar, no hot sauce required.

Stick with the sunshine and coffee.

Ok, this breaktfast couldnt be an everyday habit. To much for our budget, that should have included to eat in the hostel, and to much for our waist-​line.
And it is to perfect to eat only little.
The name of this restaurant will be a tounge twister for me, for ever and yet i will remember it very positiv.
It is remarkably less noise in here, no loud music, the service is much more attentiv and friendly and there are many real windows that let the daylight in.
On top of that it is all very tidy, even the toilets are very nice decorated and tidy.
All things that, we learned the days before, cant be taken for granted in good old London.
My fresh made, warm porridge tasted so good! Ok, i took the wonderful strawberry-​marmelade on it, too.
The egg with bread was also perfect.
The absolute highlight was the fresh and warm scone, served with cream!
No comparison to all other scones i was used to.
At home i use organic flour and i know that this give this great taste.

Nach der Ein-​Toaster-​für-​Alle-​Erfahrung im Hostel und dem unausweichlichen Ausweichen zum amerikanischen Feinkostrestaurant war das Le Pain Quotidien am letzten Morgen unseres London-​Abenteuers doch ein besonderer Lichtblick.
Das zweistöckige Gebäude macht gleich beim Hereinkommen einen gemütlichen Eindruck. Während man auf das obligatorische geseated-​Werden wartet, kann man schon einmal mit den Augen anfangen zu schlemmen — die frischen Backwaren und sonstigen Leckereien präsentieren sich direkt am Eingang.
Am Tisch angekommen verrät der Blick in die Karte: hier gibt es verschiedene Frühstücks-​Kombinationen aus Bio-​Zutaten, einzelne Bestandteile nachbestellen ist aber auch kein Problem. Der Kaffee ist betont fair gehandelt, Brotaufstrich in Form von Marmeladen und einer bisher unbekannten Crème sind ebenfalls organic, das homemade interpretiere ich einfach mal als für unser Haus gemacht — lecker waren sie aber in jedem Fall.
Daher: mein Tipp für ein entspanntes, leckeres und womöglich gar gesundes Bio-​Frühstück in der sonst so hektischen Stadt!
Über die sonstigen Angebote ausserhalb vom Frühstück, die das Le Pain Quotidien natürlich auch zu bieten hat, kann ich leider nichts berichten.
