The female host(and owner I think) was very unwilling to accommodate us and made us all feel incredibly uncomfortable during an issue with our Tastecard payment. Aside from being rude and making us feel like a burden, she was snobbish towards our choices. After attempting to discreetly resolve everything to one side, the host insisted on making a scene. We ended up leaving without eating. Do not go unless you like an arrogantly degrading service

Excellent food, beyond excellent dessert. Service was fabulous! Will visit again next time I’m in town.

Been here twice now. The food is amazing and the husband and wife duo running it really make your night. He cooks while she serves, as it really is service with a genuine smile. She really make the night. Will defiantly be going again.

I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for a number of years living in Putney and finally found the opportunity to go when a friend in town wanted to go to a French restaurant. It’s one of the few restaurants that you can use the tastecard and there are no weekend restrictions. It felt very homey when we walked in and were greeted by the owner — who was lovely. In contrary to Kavita’s review, we were a group of 43asians and didn’t feel an ounce of prejudice whilst we were there. Because we actually chatted with the owner, she would come by frequently to just have a chat with us. I felt like we were warmly welcomed and thought the service was great. The food was really good — we shared 2 orders of the prawn starters and I had the fish of the day as a main. It was all very delicious and well prepared. For dessert, we shared the crème brûlée and the chocolate & praline mouse and all very unique. It still came out to quite a lot even after the discount but think their pre-fixe menu is a really good deal. Sometimes they offer a 5 course tasting menu for about 25 pounds. They haven’t done it in a while but ask to get on the mailing list to find out.

Yes, you read the title of my review right! After reading some good reviews on this website, me and my husband decided to give this restaurant a go. I walked in followed by my husband and said hello to the waitress(or I don’t give a damn now whether she was the owner). She ignored me and greeted my husband instead. It was a bit odd but I thought let’s see how it goes. When taking the order, she would refuse to acknowledge me and ONLY speak to my husband. Odd again. Anyway, I asked her whether she could recommend any vegetarian options to which she snarled back ‘NO’. Enough was enough. I stepped her aside and said that her attitude seems to be hostile towards me, is there a problem? To which she said that I turned my nose on her vegetarian menu and that this is exclusively a French restaurant! Just to let the reader know, we are an inter racial couple. I am an Asian and my husband English which now explains her racist attitude towards me as she would rather tolerate my husband than me! This lady is patronising, racially intolerant, pompous and she is better off writing a sign outside the restaurant«This place belongs to a racist, welcome!». Me and my husband left without eating anything and when I told her that I would be inclined to write a review of this terrible experience. She said«You can’t as you didn’t eat our food». As I walked away, I thought that I very well could and after that hostile smirk on her face, I didn’t even need to try the food. So, in a nutshell, if you are reading this and are of a coloured origin then hold your head high and by all means walk into this place but be prepared to face a racist there! UK is my home and very rarely I encounter people like this but yes this experience did stir a bad taste.

Incredible food and service to match at this great family run French restaurant. The wine list is traditional but strong, with plenty of interesting apéritif options. They also do a take away service.

Tucked away on the corner of an unpromising stretch of the Upper Richmond Road, L’Auberge is a true hidden gem that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves good food and wine! My wife and I took my parents here for a special Friday night dinner, and we were collectively blown away by the quality of the meal — every dish was a winner, and the husband and wife team(he in the kitchen, she at the front of the house) delivered a wonderful gastronomic experience in true French style. To start, I had the scallops, which came with a bean purée and were absolutely sensational. My main course was a perfectly-cooked rabbit in mustard sauce with dauphinoise potatoes, which had all the flavor I was expecting, and none of the heaviness(the chef really has a deft touch), which meant that I had room for dessert. To finish, I chose the orange tart, which was absolutely sensational; crispy on top and creamy inside, yet more subtle in flavor than a typical tarte au citron. All in all, it was a wonderful meal, accompanied by superb wines, and with wonderful and friendly service from Mme Ardillys. We’ll definitely be returning, and we highly recommend that you visit!

This is my favourite restaurant in London and lucky for me it is just at the bottom of my road! The couple that run the restaurant are lovely. The wife runs the front of house and the husband, Pascal Ardilly who is a VERY talented patissier and chef, runs the kitchen. It has a very unassuming location but is a real treasure. Located between Putney and Wandsworth on the Upper Richmond Road this French restaurant is worth a visit. The food is unpretentious and often is based on classic French peasant recipes. The menu changes every time we’ve gone in but we’ve never had a hard time finding something we would like. The house wine is always good and the atmosphere can only be described as cozy. You feel like you are sitting in someone’s living room and that you are being fed the best homemade food you’ve ever had. The best dish I’ve ever had there was a rolled turkey escalope stuffed with a veggie cream sauce with chopped olives. I don’t even like olives but it was amazing! The desserts are rich with a pleasing sophistication, especially if it is anything chocolate as Mrs Ardilly will tell you. Once a month they host a Gastronomic Night that focuses on one region of France. The set menus on these nights afford you 5 courses for about £25! Oh and before I forget they do a yummy take away menu too for when you want an amazing meal at home but just don’t have the energy to turn on the hob. You really must make a trip!

Well thought, well prepared and delicious French cuisine. Recommended by Michelin guide. Opened Tuesday till Saturday after 7pm. 3 course menu at £17. Atmosphere is very cosy. I have tried the take away several times, which was excellent and nicely presented. Assiette du Sud Ouest is outstanding as many other dishes. Don’t leave without trying the chocolate fondant, you won’t get enough of it. As for the bill, the value is unbeatable.
