This is the smaller sister restaurant of Lardo on Richmond Road. I had dinner here last night with friends for the first time and I rate it much higher than the original Lardo. It is a small restaurant, which apparently has a downstairs although didn’t venture that far, and some may call it ambient. The staff member doing the orders and the drinks was helpful and polite and didn’t intrude, far friendlier than staff in the other Lardo. The menu comprises of several side salads, several pizzas and also a few pasta dishes, so there is choice, but not extensive choice. We had olives and garlic bread to start. The olives were the best I have had, tasted nice and fresh, no brine at all! Garlic bread nice. We each had a pizza, these were ok, nothing to write home about and not cheap, about £11.50 each. In all honestly the pizzas at the Pembury Tavern down the road are better. The red wine we had, the rosso, was amazing. Nicest red we have had in ages and was only £20 a bottle I think. We shared a broccoli and bean side salad which was delicious. Overall, a nice place, it was quite quiet which helped. It has a very hipster atmosphere which I am not keen on, but that said I would go there again. It does add up though, it came to £83 for 3 of us.
