We have lived in Wimbledon for over 10 years and have been to La Nonna now a couple of times in the last 3 months. Both were special occasions — once our anniversary and once our friends’ wedding anniversary. Overall, the food is good. I ordered the lasagne once and then the veal Milanese, both of which were very good. Service was where we were severely disappointed. We had an elderly gentlemen serve us(is he the owner?) on both instances and he was extremely irritating and disrespectful. When we said we wanted to share a few starters he insisted we order more. When we finished mains he insisted we order dessert. We spent over £100 on dinner on both occasions and this guy made us feel we were being extremely stingy. Not acceptable. Sorry. I am not going back again.

Must have had a bad day when I went, wasn’t very busy and the service was very slow, food took an age to come out and was cold, won’t be going back needles to say. Very disappointing

Fabulous food and amazing service. Gianni, the owner, remembers all his regulars by name, and even if you’ve only been a few times and then not for many months he still remembers you, as do his most long-serving members of staff. The atmosphere is extremely friendly and fun and I always look forward to going back there. Highly, highly reccommended!

We have eaten at La Nonna on numerous occasions since moving to Wimbledon a couple of years ago. The food has always been top class and the service friendly & authentic. For good quality at a reasonable price La Nonna should be highly recommended.

Something about this restaurant enticed me every time I drove passed it, and so I finally decided to satisfy my urges once and for all last night… My boyfriend and I were craving Italian, and so I took this golden opportunity to finally try this place out. From the outset, there was a nice feel to the restaurant. The service was brilliant throughout and we were immediately attended to as soon as we walked through the door. All the staff seemed to be on happy pills, which ultimately made the experience that much better. The menu seemed simple enough. For starters, we ordered an Antipasto Rustico, consisting of a nice selection of dry cured beef and cheeses. For mains, my bf decided on a traditional Lasagne al Forno while I chose my usual Tagliatelle Ai Gamberoni. I was pleasantly surprised that we needn’t wait for long for the food to arrive. As for the food itself, I found it simple yet satisfying, and without ending up with a salt overload on my palate(something I often find with restaurant food). Id also recommend trying out their desserts — it was a nice end to the meal!

We have eaten at La Nonna Restaurant on numerous occasions. Both the food and the service has always been of a high standard. La Nonna is not the cheapest restaurant in town but hey, you get what you pay for! The venue is great, the food is great and the staff are simply the best!!! Not many restaurants are able to serve large groups and ensure that everyone gets their food at the same time and that the food is hot … but La Nonna manages to do this in style. My husband and I like their pasta, their meat dishes(duck, lamb) and their salads. The desserts are always scrumptious and their coffee is the best!

The melanzane parmigiana is to die for! The food is fresh and delicious — I have not tried everything on the menu but what I have had is really good — the service can be a little slow but always really friendly. Décor is rustic and very ambient. Quite a romantic place ideal for that first date! Try getting seated at the front as the back area tends to be little cramped!

La Nonna is always busy when I walk past despite its remote location on Wimbledon Broadway. So, I decided to eat her this week although Italian wouldn’t be my favourite food choice. They have created a clever seating arrangement with lots of nooks and crannies, creating lots of privacy for diners. The service was first rate throughout with friendly, attentive waiters. I decided to test the kitchen with 2 classics that leave nowhere to hide due to the simplicity and few ingredients in each dish. My starter of spaghetti carbonara sadly wasn’t served in my favourite way, as they do on the continent — with a raw egg yolk on top to be worked into the warm pasta to lend the dish its creaminess. However, as a British carbonara, this was exemplary. The pasta was cooked to soft al dente and the sauce coated it rather than drowned it. Bacon and cheese are a classic winning combo and thios dish proved no exception. My main of calf’s liver with pancetta was served with some sauteed potato. I knew the dish would be good from the moment it was laid on the table — there were heavy stripe marks from the grill and the smell was heavenly. The liver was sliced thinly but still moist on the inside with a crispy seared crust. Perfect amount of liver to bacon ratio I finished with bannofee pie — another winning combo of banana and toffee. Minor criticism that the biscuit base was a big thick There is a good lead in the kitchen and this place deserves to continue to thrive

I’ve eaten here on a few different occasions now and the restaurant itself is very well presented and does generate a warm environent to enjoy your food. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food has always been of a good quality, if sometimes pricey with most main courses costing close to £20(not including pizzas). I went with a group of 12 people on one occasion and also as part of a couple on another, I found the service was consistently good regardless of group size.

I have been here a few times, the first time was on valentine’s day when they had a special menu offer, considering it was valentine’s day they weren’t very busy. The first time I dined here I enjoyed the food, i thought it was very tasty(I had lamb) the portions were very generous and the service was good. However the second time I ate here it was a saturday night and they were extremely busy, the waiter forgot all about us on a number of occasions and we were left waiting for our food for ages! We finally got an apology and free shot of limoncello for the inconvenience but I don’t think the customer service was good at all. Nor was the food which was overcooked and cold. There is a good range of food here and it seems fairly authentic in some ways but i think both the food and service is a bit hit and miss and it is expensive for what it is, considering it is not quite in central Wimbledon I felt as though I was paying for the priviledge of eating in the Wimbledon area rather than quality food.

hmmm, went here once with my family. it was ok, but the center seating area is confusing to get to, and as i was waited for my family to arrive, the men who worked there kept making sexual comments to me which after a while started to make me feel uncomfortable, esspecially when one of the waiters took my picture on his camera phone from behind the bar without my permission. i wouldn’t dine here again, not as a group of females anyway. the food was quite nice though, but a bit pricey for the quality, i have been to nicer to italian places

With it’s intricately designed exterior and located on the main road heading into Wimbledon town centre, La Nonna Italian restaurant is very inviting! It doesn’t dissapoint once you enter the restaurant with it’s interior decoration providing a warm, relaxed ambiance for couples and groups alike. Staff are friendly and attentive and the menu offers a variety of dishes to suit all tastes. I have visited La Nonna several times now and athough I’ve enjoyed my experience on each occassion the food has unfortunately let me down more and more each time. Although the pizzas are pretty tasty, we unfortunately found pasta and meat dishes to be unsatisfactory to the point where my partner didn’t eat more than half his dinner last time! Nice and maybe worth a try but not highly recommended!

This is a friendly, family-run Italian restaurant on The Broadway, towards South Wimbledon. It does a good range of traditional Italian dishes, including pizza, pasta, meat and fish. Portions are generous,(you’ll struggle with more than two courses) and while it is a little more expensive than some places, the food is both well prepared and authentic. Starters range from £4.50 for Bruschetta to £8.95 for King Tiger Prawns in garlic; pasta and pizza range from £6.95 to £9.50, and meat and fish dishes cost £11.95 — £17.95. Children’s pasta and pizza portions are available for £5.00. Expect a two-course meal for two with wine and coffee to come to about £25-£35 a head, depending on the selection. The full menu is on the web-site, so you can plan ahead. Service is very attentive(and can feel a little too much so) but is also efficient and friendly. The only downside is the décor, which feels remarkably like a chain restaurant, but don’t let that put you off. It can also get very busy on Friday and Saturday evenings(I suggest booking ahead), and caters for groups, so it’s perhaps not the choice for an intimate meal for two. But it’s one of my favourites in the area during the week.
