Having waited for yeeeears to be allotted tickets, we finally scored a pair to see QI and headed to the London Studios for the taping. Now I’m not yet sure if the people running the queue and doors were studio staff or just ticketing agency staff, but it was not cool. We arrived in the queue at 1:30pm for doors at 3:15pm. All tickets said that doors closed at 3:45 and entry is subject to space(hence the willingness to queue up so stupidly early). We waited. And waited. And waited. At about 3pm, the minders consolidated the queue forward and, I think, let in the«Priority» ticket holders. Then the rest of us continued to wait. Past the 3:15 doors time. Past the 3:45 cut-off time. Finally we were let in at about 4pm. The taping was to have begun at 4pm and due to this lateness(and because they were filming 2 episodes that day), our taping was shorter than it was supposed to be. That’s not cool. I waited ages to see Stephen Fry and I wanted my full 2 hours! Those problems aside, the inside studio staff were helpful and kind. Seating isn’t particularly comfortable, but I’ve sat in worse! The location of the studios makes for easy access and I’ll be happy to attend a show there in the future, but I do hope they do a better job handling the audience.

As an Irish friend of mine said: «This is the kind of thing you should do when you come to London.» We had ventured down to the studio to watch the filming of The Jonathan Ross Show — which was great. Having done a little bit of work in TV before, I know how easy it is for filming nights to drag on. But this was a very tight production, aided by some very able support staff. My one issue with the studio would be making people line up outside in a pretty disorganised manner, but this may be the responsibility of the production team. I found the staff inside to be very helpful. It’s the kind of thing you should do…
