Specialties

Ian Mankin designs and weaves their own range of classical yet contemporary furnishing fabrics in their own weaving mill in Lancashire, still run by the same family after six generations. The heritage of the brand, along with the business’s environmental credentials, producing fabrics only using natural and organic fibres, has meant a growing reputation as one of the countries top suppliers of fabrics and accessories to the interior design sector.

The Wandsworth Bridge shop and showroom stock the full collection and fabrics are available to take away by the metre.

New to the collection are a range of wallcoverings as well as complementary accessories, cushions, lighting, furniture, kitchen textiles and gifts.

The collection can be seen and purchased online at www.ianmankin.co.uk

History

Established in 1983.

Ian Mankin started his working life in his fathers trimmings business later branching out on his own to design leather jackets and luggage in the 1960s. He found fame by designing clothing for The Beatles, Michael Caine and US President Ronald Reagan.

1983 he started his fabrics business. Initially he had the idea of taking classic and utilitarian fabrics such as mattress ticking and reworking them for the home decorating market. These fabrics were largely imported into the UK from India and the Far East and Ian set about trying to bring the production of these items back to the UK.

A partnership began with John Spencer Textiles in Burnley to weave Ian Mankin fabrics. John Spencers has been weaving in the town since 1870 and the business is still run by the great-great-great-grandson of the founder.
