My favourite London pub, particularly because of their craft beer selection. Great atmosphere, but can be noisy at times when the local Rugby teams fill the bar. It’s also a very friendly place, because the majority of patrons are local.

The Howl has really mediocre food — but I don’t come here for the food. IT’S ALLABOUTTHECRAFTBEER. They have an ever changing selection of cask and keg offerings and a nice atmosphere right near Hoxton Street Park. Perfect on a cozy winter’s eve or a summer’s day — a pretty great place.

Was taken here by friends with an interest in craft beer and I can only say that I loved it. An absolutely fantastic selection of beers although the little selection on the corner of the bar with the 7.5% plus should be avoided unless you are prepared to be carried home. The bar staff were really knowledgeable and willing to help out with any questions we had which is always a nice touch. We didn’t eat although spent some time perusing the menu and saw a few plates leaving the kitchen. The portion sizes looked good and the prices were very reasonable. I’m definitely going to give it a try next time

This is one of my favourite London pubs and I’d recommend it to anyone. It’s a craft beer pub and even though I’m not a huge craft beer fan I find myself being drawn back here. Setting: This is a small bar but it’s high ceilings, big windows and open plan layout give it a nice roomy feel. The area is clean and comfortable. There are even outdoor benches where you can enjoy a drink if it’s sunny out. Beer and Prices: As craft beers go(these are always going to be pricier than your big label brewery products) there is a great selection here and they constantly rotate through local London beers — there’s something new on tap every week. My personal favourite is the Camden Wit(a white beer) that they have on tap. If in doubt or looking for a new drink don’t be afraid to ask one of the knowledgable bar staff for their thoughts. You’ll pay a little bit more than you would for a Heineken elsewhere but it’s definitely worth it and a no brainer once you’ve tried. Staff and Atmosphere: The clientele here tend to trend younger(Hoxton is a very up and coming area) and there’s a lively atmosphere. People have always been friendly when I’ve been there. The staff themselves have always been incredibly helpful and friendly — definitely say hi and show your appreciation when you can. If you need anything they’ll do their best to help. Food: The Howl does chips, burgers, sandwiches and other bar food options. It’s not their speciality but I’ve always found them filling. The chips are served in a pint glass(clean of course) and are thick cut which I love. Overall this is a really cool pub hidden in Hoxton. It’s a great place for an evening pint and a good beer. Check it out!

Not so long ago this place would have stood out as a beacon of the revamped pub style. You know the sort — take one old boozer, strip out carpet, nick-nacks, crappy wall hangings and scrub the wooden floor/bar clean. Bring in some interesting beers, have a ‘gastro’ menu, and put on indy /lounge music. Well that’s what has happened here, and it is pretty successful. It may be a slightly hackneyed formula these days but Howl at the Moon does it successfully. I especially like their big tables(they have small ones too), I like their choice of beers(Camden Hell being a particular favourite at the moment), the menu looked good — mixing classic gastro-pub food with a lot of fish dishes. But most of all this place is dark; I mean most light comes from the street lamps outside. Maybe they are saving on the electricity bill, but it makes for a very cosy, warm, comfortable and inviting place to meet up with a bunch of friends for a catch-up. It may play to an over familiar formula these days but Howl at the Moon is among the best of its kind and is well worth a visit if you are anywhere near the area.

I went to a lot of pubs in London. A lot of them. Most had surprisingly bad beer, even worse food, and left me feeling light in the cash department. In the City they were filled with obnoxious foreigners. I may be foreign, American even, but I’m not obnoxious. In Kensington a beer was like GBP7, and there were still obnoxious foreigners(mostly Russian). But Howl at the Moon. Oh yeah. This was my favorite bar in all of London. I came with my American colleague after a dinner out on Hoxton Square. It’s a bit of a hike up from that area, and we weren’t sure it was worth it. But when we came in, the bartenders were friendly. They had an excellent beer selection. The prices were reasonable — cheap even. And the jukebox had some great selections. Plus they have board games. The crowd was hip, but not that hip. I live in San Francisco’s Mission District, and this is not a hipster crowd. Definitely check this place out. If I’m back in London for work or pleasure, I’ll definitely be back.

The quirky name fits the atmosphere of this place well. Liked its vibe, as J.R. M. says it attracts an interesting crowd but wasn’t too crowded even on a Saturday night. Food was good but small portions — and it’s not your typical pub grub either, in fact there’s not a jacket potato in sight. Drinks are well-priced, with a student discount on a limited selection of beer. Would go again!

This pub has been around for a couple of years now I reckon(spawned from the ashes of a dive called The Queens Head). It is a pleasant, non-traditional place that serves some good beers(usually something tasty from Brodies can be found amongst other things). I appreciate the ‘Keep Hackney sh*t’ poster.

Best place in Hoxton to get a pint. Its the best curated selection of beers(craft/real ales as well as a selection of bottles) that I have seen in London, the tenders and other clients are always interesting. The place is both«cool» but has a surprisingly neighborhood/off the(skinny jean) beaten path for the area. Had the good fortune to hear a couple of great bands play here one night but most weekend nights, comfortably mellow.
