Adorable little sweet shop right across the road from where Charlie and the Chocolate factory is currently playing… I thought… I gotta get some chocolates for this show… I got chocolate covered Toffee’s…mmmm…really authentic, old school sweetie shop. awesome!

I have been reading a book about owning a sweet shop, and as soon as I walked by this place, I knew I had to go in. The bright airy shop is so inviting and there is such a large collection of both traditional and new sweets. It was very hard to not buy a little bit of everything!
I opted for the medium bag and got to pick 2 sweets to go in. I got the cherry jellies and the pineapple chunk hard sweets. When deciding between the sour apples and the cherries, the lady behind the counter was super helpful and knew all about each one! The cherries were bursting with flavour. They weren’t too chewy or too soft and the pineapple chunks were super flavourful as well.
Armed with a sweet tooth and a stamp card… there is no reason not to go back.

Sweets! It’s a proper sweet shop. Touristy souvenir things mixed with the jars of old school candy behind the counter, with an array of chocolate-​y fudge seasonal things on the counter and just generally strewn about the place. tastefully, methodically strewn mind you.
Cute décor, love the colors, they have some candy accessories for the diet conscious gift givers.
Kind of out of the way, but near the Covent Garden hub bub, but should definitely come here instead of the ye old sweet shop chain. Just nice to visit non-​chain, less touristy things I think.

I definitely do not need any candy.
At least that’s what I told myself while I stood under the bright red awning of Hope and Greenwood’s old-​fashioned sweet shop and stared in at the brightly coloured sweets on display in the window. But then I saw the Bitter Raspberry Balls, the cola cubes and the pink chocolate pigs and I realised that I DID in fact need some candy.
As this store specialises in old-​fashioned candy, it has an old-​fashioned look to it as well. The inside of the shop is literally top-​to-​bottom sweets. The shelves stretch all the way to the ceiling and are filled with glass jars of different candies. Though there are some boxed sweets available, most of the candy is sold by the scoopful and handed over in cute little red and white striped bags.
This shop is adorable and it makes me wish I didn’t like candy so much as I can see myself wandering over to Covent Garden a little too often.

Besides being the absolute ideal of what you’d expect a perfect candy store to look like the candy here is also phenomenal. I’m scouring the internet trying to find how I can get their delicious candy in the states — specifically the currant liquorice bonbons. While visiting London I bought some for myself and a large bag to share. The small bag didn’t make it home and I couldn’t actually end up sharing the larger bag either. It’s been over a year and I still crave these! This is a must do if you’re visiting London and delicious in general if you live there.

A beautiful shop with lots of luxurious indulgent sweets and chocolates — I bought a few chocolates and they were lovely, but a few is all I could afford!
It’s all very well being pretty but it would be nice if it was worth buying anything!

I don’t think this candy store could be cuter if it tried. It’s candy-​covered awesome. A stroll back to candy stores of yesteryear. Bright colors, outstanding variety, and just a whole lot of fun. I wanted to buy one of everything. I brought back a jar of gobstoppers for my office as a London souvenir. (Once the candy was gone, I brought the jar home to save.)
Great location in Covent Garden, right around the corner from the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. It’s absolutely worth stopping by for a old school sugar fix!

This shop looks really tempting, crammed with bottles and boxes of sweets alongside cute accessories. The rows of jars at the back include all the old favourites: rhubarb-​and-​custards, lemon sherbert, gobstoppers and so on. Staff are helpful and friendly.
However, the prices are off-​putting. A small bag of sweets costs enough to put you off buying more than one kind, and the pre-​prepared gift assortments are even more expensive for sometimes rather cheap sweets. A pity, as this means a visit is only an occasional treat.

Hope and Greenwood is full of retro sweets and beautiful packaging. It appears to always be busy with tourists such as myself. The back shelves are lined with jars full of liquorice torpedoes, sherbet flying saucers and pear drops. It is a lovely shop but the prices are high and although you can buy a small bag the goods don’t match up to the price tag.

Oh my god! I could happily live in the shop with my rotting teeth forever as the range of sweets and chocolate on offer is amazing. Really takes you back to when you were a kid with their range of retro sweets including flying saucers, rhubarb and custard sweets and wham bars. Unfortunately the prices aren’t anywhere near as cheap as when you were 4 but the whole store is a delight. Best still, buy one of the box of retro sweets as a great gift for a good friend and watch their face as they open the present. Everyone loves sweets, well maybe not diabetics, so everyone should love this fantastic and unique shop!

I can’t find a reason in me to give this anything less then five stars. I was hooked from when I walked in, and a bell rings. Not a modern bell, or siren, or anything. but the type of bell you would expect to be over a shop one hundred years ago. As soon as I walked in, some beautiful mellow music played perhaps over a gramophone (it’s honestly how it sounds). The sweets on offer all have rustic labelling but are sold at perhaps THE most expensive prices for sweets I have seen in a long, long time. If I went to a chocolate shop, no doubt I would find something there that would outrage me as much but this place is dear. You pay for the quality, I guess! Look out for chocolate strawberries, a genuinely moreish snack that my girlfriend is rabid about.

Covent Garden is the perfect place to have a traditional sweet shop as it does have that oldy worldy feel, especially as Christmas time. This little shop is usually full of tourists but still remains very cute and the staff are extremely friendly and I think, really enjoy working there!
Oh my gosh, the selection of sweets is amazing — milk bottles, bon bons, gobstoppers — all those favourites that will take you back to the days of buying penny sweets (and probably well beyond!). The sweets are measured out from the glass jars but you can also buy chocolate bars and bagged sweets. As it is a type of novelty store, the sweets are rather on the expensive side but the experience and the sweets themselves are worth it.
I would advise not to go in if you are hungry or on a diet!

It’s so great to a have a traditional sweet shop in the centre of London. Hope and Greenwood offer all the sweets you’ll remember as a kid such as flying saucers, fried eggs, gobstoppers, and shrimps among tonnes of others and more!
This quaint sweet shop has a beautiful nostalgic feel and they offer a ridiculously huge selection of sweets you could only imagine! I love the toffee bonbons and the ice cream mallows but you’ll want to try everything in sight!
It’s a great place for the Christmas period as well because they offer seasonal sweets and they make great gift ideas if you’re stuck for ideas and even if you don’t have a sweet tooth it’s still a great place to visit.
