Lovely peaceful tree lined green space. Good for BBQs in the summer. Tennis courts, big kids play area and indoor swimming pool here too!

Tucked behind the station this park is where you can take some time out and watch the world go by. there is a kids play area but mainly people use this place to eat their lunch on sunny days. there are on occasion a few drunks though.

I have to admit, I feel quite silly writing a review for a park. I mean, no beer OR food? What am I doing?
But it really doesn’t get much better than Highbury Fields — particularly now that Islington has lifted its ban on grilling in public spaces.
There are larger parks, with ponds and fountains and monuments and whatnot, but not many have the same local flavour as highbury fields. As the largest, and most centrally located green space in the borough, Highbury Fields has become the outdoor meeting space for Islingtonians to sit back and enjoy the weather.
The Georgian and Victoria rowhouses which surround the park only add to the aesthetic.

What is it with Islington’s lack of green space? Sure there are a few squares and greens but if you really want wide open green space you don’t have too many options.
Thankfully, you do have Highbury Fields. OK so it’s not Islington but it’s close enough. Hidden just off from Highbury Corner’s horribly busy roundabout and the constantly gridlocked Holloway Road, Highbury Fields is a reasonably big oasis of calm that is exactly what this area needs.
The sun wasn’t burning down too much when I was there so it was reasonably quiet apart from a few families with kids and some topless men banging sticks, beating drums and running around in a circle (answers on a postcard please as I have no idea).

Highbury Fields is the bookend of Upper Street, and I’ll let you debate with yourself if it’s the better or worse end, but it’s certainly more residential (not Homes) than Angel and it’s a great place to meet people for a summer chill out.
Not a terribly big park, but when you’re around the East end of Islington it makes for perfect people watching (any last guesses?)
Highbury Fields may or may not be Hipster (ding ding ding) ground zero for the area when the sun starts to shine, so get those skinny jeans, ironic hats to keep the sun from tanning you and maybe a pair of loafers without socks because when you’re packed in this green space with urban hipsters, you’ll want to look your best.
And don’t forget to bring a bottle of wine!

You know the weather’s been nice when my last few reviews involve parks, offys and fruit stalls!
Highbury Fields is no different, a massive open green surrounded by leafy trees for a bit of much needed shade. The BBQs were grilling, frisbees and footballs out in force, blankets, sunglasses, books, summer festival cider, pure happiness. Even the kiddos were in parktopia as the playground equipment is actually pretty cool! And of course, the mandatory Mr. Whippy was parked with his permanent queue. (Ok fine, maybe I had a go at the swings and ice cream myself. But kids are a great diversion!)
This, as are most of London’s tucked away green spaces, is a pure gem in the neighbourhood.

I remember Highbury Fields and the swimming pool-​open air in those days!-from over fifty years ago whe my parents and I lived in Upper Street and apart from the trees being much bigger now it hasn’t changed much at all, and there’s not many places you can say that about in London. Bet the ice creams are’nt sixpence anymore-​we used to get them from a nice old gentleman on a bike

Whenever I get off the Highbury Islington tube stop and decide to walk home, I walk through Highbury Fields. It was a surprise to find it because once you enter the little park the noise seems to almost disappear. If someone had not told me to walk in that direction I never would have found it. I would love to purchase one of the houses that boarders the park, I could get used to looking into Highbury Fields every day.
What I love about Highbury Fields is that it’s a great space when it’s hot or cold. You can just appreciate the trees in their various states of living, I love that. In addition the park has a little café and tennis courts. Plus you always find kids just running and playing or dogs having a grand time in the open spaces. I love the noise parks bring and Highbury Fields is no different.

Highbury Fields is flat. It’s a flat park. It’s also comparatively small. But it’s full of good stuff.
If you’ve got children, it’s a great and free place to take them. There is one of the best playgrounds in north London, for a start. And if you do happen to have a few quid spare for the nippers, there’s a pleasant café a short walk away, which serves fairly wholesome food. It’s not particularly cheap, but that’s what you’d expect in the middle of a park.
Even if it’s quicker to walk through the streets on a particular route through Highbury, I’ll often take the diversion through the park. The tree-​lined walkways are a pleasure to stroll down.
If you’re feeling sporty, you can play tennis in the more than adequate courts. There are usually plenty of games going on in the main field too: families playing rounders, or guys playing jumpers-​for-​goalposts football.

A welcome bit of green that’s probably quite unexpected if coming from the perpetually busy Highbury Corner road junction, or Highbury & Islington tube. It’s the biggest open space in the borough but still pretty small compared with any of London’s more famous parks, and it can get busy at weekends in season (it also becomes a thoroughfare on football matchdays due to its close proximity to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium).
There’s always enough room for a picnic though, or even a small game of football, and whilst it wouldn’t exactly be described as having lush vegetation there are plenty of trees, so the pollution levels are definitely on the healthy side of London average. There are other things to do too — take your kids to the big play area, visit the public swimming pool (indoor), play tennis, get jealous of the surrounding Victorian and Georgian townhouses, or gasp at the art-​nouveau Boer War memorial (maybe).
Unfortunately, as with anywhere in London, wherever there are park benches there are homeless people and alcoholics around, and today when I walked through in the middle of the afternoon there were a couple of guys sitting around sharing a joint — they didn’t bother me but I guess you might not want your kids to get familiar with the scent.

Highbury Fields Is A Massive Park, As It Has A Full Sized Football Pitch, Eight Tennis Courts, Large Grass Areas And One Off The Bigggest Playgrounds. Two Big Slides And All Other Actvities To Play With.

A huge park found just behind highbury corner. Includes a fantastic huge playground with large climbing frames and a zip wire. Fun place to take the children however can get quite busy in the summer holidays.

This is not exactly the biggest park. It’s not somewhere to get lost and forget the world. It’s more a large green than a park, as roads and cars are pretty visible. In spite of its size it even has a road running through the middle of it. Still, it’s a useful little park. Of course there’s the baths at the bottom, which are nice, and a kids playground. There’s various sports courts at the Northern end. For runners it doesn’t exactly give a great deal of variety. However it is a on a bit of a slope, making it useful for some basic hill training. Once round, on the tarmac pavements just outside the park, along the pedestrianised road and round the top of the Western courts, is roughly a mile.
