We pretty much knew what we would be getting when we booked this room — cheap, convenient lodging in central London. However, I didn’t expect the room to be quite as small as it was. There was room for a double bed — only. The bed touched each wall on either side. It felt more like a large closet than a room, really. They did manage to squeeze in a small television(impressive) and a stand up shower in the bathroom. Everything was clean and the bathroom looked newly renovated. It made me mad tho that the room had a huge balcony which we weren’t allowed to use and the door was bolted shut. Now, that’s just teasing. The real issue I had was with the girl at the front desk. Our red eye flight unfortunately got us into the city around 9am, but we couldn’t check in until 2pm. So we had to kill time all day, on no sleep. When we asked if we could check in early, she said no. Then, groggy beyond belief, we return to the hotel around 1:30 with the hopes of checking in. She still says the room is not yet ready. So we sit. And wait. And wait. Finally my travel companion has the idea — hey let’s ask the other girl at the front desk. So he does — and she promptly says, oh my yes of course you can have a room right now — I’ll just put you in one that’s ready. So the front desk girl just couldn’t be bothered to have the forethought to do this? Not great. Not great at all. She must have stopped taking pity on exhausted travelers long ago. Which is fine, except for that I was an exhausted traveler desperate for sleep! So — if you book a room here — don’t expect any semblance of customer service. Expect a clean bed in a clean room, no more.
