Quick, easy and convenient! The Heathrow Express really makes things dummy proof. You have the option to buy ahead online, through one of the many agents standing and announcing them self through the arrival area or stop at the ticketing kiosk. I bought mine from an agent and it was super easy and fast!
On Saturdays the express runs every 30 mins at the top and bottom of the hour and is a nice smooth ride to Paddington Station. From there it is much cheaper to catch a taxi to your destination than going straight from the airport.
Now, sit back and enjoy the London scenery!

Depending on your schedule and your destinations in London, the Express is a great experience. From the middle of the Heathrow terminals (1, 2, 3) to Paddington Station in 15 minutes – every 15 minutes.
It is pricey for a round trip (£36), but super quick and plush. Google Maps, which was very efficient and almost always spot on concerning tube schedules, said it was a little over an hour for the same journey.
Admittedly, the tube fare for an entire day of travel, including the Underground and city buses is £12, and you’ll probably end up buy that too if you’re planning on touristing it about London, the easy, enjoyable trip back to Heathrow was worth it.

So convenient between Heathrow and central London. First class does not cost much more than regular price. Comfortable seats with plenty of luggage space. Paddington rail station connects to the London Underground. Will definitely be using this train in the future

Is the Heathrow Express the smarter way? It depends on how smart you plan your trip. Slammed as the world’s most expensive train by cost per mile, HEX is often not recommended by both locals and tourists. However, if you book the train early enough, you can enjoy this luxurious airport transportation almost at the same cost as the more popular but much slower Underground Tube!
HEX will perhaps be the most comfortable train you will ride: clean, spacious, quick, and free fast Wi-​Fi. I am surprised that it’s even better than the Eurostar train! The biggest selling point is that the train gets you to central London in 15 minutes: 25% of the time required for the tube.
However, HEX is often not recommended because of its staggering one-​way regular fare of £21.50, which is more than 3 times the tube’s fare. Additionally, HEX terminates at Paddington Station, so you need to transfer to the tube, which adds to the already high cost and reduces the speed advantage.
Why such a high rating then?
If you book the HEX at least 30 days in advance, the round-​trip fare is £17.50, so each way costs £8.75 which is less than £5 more than the tube if you need a transfer. 90-​day discount further renders the round-​trip fare to £11.90, making the HEX virtually the same cost as the tube!
In fact, if you are planning to ride the tube more than three times within zone 1 on the same day, the daily cap will make the total cost of the HEX with 7-​day discount the same as riding the tube from the airport!
I am making this effort to convince you to take HEX because it is so much more comfortable than the clusterphobic Piccadilly Line. As a 5′ 10″ man, I thought riding on Piccadilly for 30 minutes within central London was already stressful and was so glad that I didn’t have to ride for an hour.
While I would never suggest riding on regular fare, I highly recommend choosing the HEX if you can book it at least 30 days in advance. If the difference is by only a few pounds, there is no reason why you should not choose the more comfortable way especially if you have a luggage.

Okay, s*** happens, trains break down but the staff? You could have been better.
I needed to get to the airport and the tube was looking a little shaky (severe delays reported and when I actually got the the tube station it had just downgraded to minor delays). I bought my ticket on the app while on the way to Paddington and was all set, still over 90 minutes before my flight and it’s only 20 minutes to Terminal 5. I’m there 12 minutes before the scheduled train time and I specifically ask a staff member if everything is running.
«Yes sir, don’t worry, this is your train and it’s running on time».
Great. Get on the train, sit down, relax.
Train departure time arrives and… we don’t leave. A couple of minutes later, an announcement comes over the tannoy to say we aren’t leaving due to a train stuck in the tunnel.
WTF
The announcement is not repeated and was less than 15 seconds long, I only half heard it, no help from the staff on the platform.
I grab my bag and run for the taxi rank, joined by a couple of other guys. It’s too late for the tube, and Heathrow connect is also down. One expensive taxi ride later and we’ve all missed our flights. I missed my cutoff for security by 2 minutes.
Look, I understand that things break down, but what I don’t like is the following: —
The breakdown didn’t happen in the couple of minutes while I was waiting on the train to go. The breakdown happened 25 minutes earlier and the staff were aware of the problem, twitter had the info, and apparently the standard website also had the information. The App and mobile site however did not at the time I was booking my tickets. And it seems as if they weren’t telling the people who were buying tickets at the station either.
If the staff had told me there was a problem, I would have gone to the taxi rank straight away, I might have made my flight and I would have had a good weekend. If the announcement had been made over the tannoy more than once, and potentially a little earlier than after train departure time, I could have done the same.
As it was, there were no more flights to Berlin that evening, my event was taking place the next day with registration in person needing to take place before 11am — and the only flights that would get me there in time were fully booked. Event fee, hotel fee, flight fee… all down the drain as Heathrow Express don’t accept responsibility. British Airways was kind enough to refund my taxes but the rest of it was down the drain…
I’ve taken the Express quite a few times, and am normally happy with the service, but when things go wrong? You guys really get it wrong.

Even with a group discount, we still paid $ 36 (USD) round trip per person for the journey so definitely way above the ~$ 15 – 20 that you would pay via the Underground or Heathrow Connect. I think the convenience outweigh the cons as you are saving a good 15 – 30 min for double the price.

The proximity of Paddington and ease of connection via circle line to my destination made flying to heathrow a better option otherwise I would have went for London City Airport.
As others have said the express will get you to the city in 15 min and the service is reliable. The only downside here is the cost, assuming you but the ticket 7 days in advance then you are looking at a 55euro return based on Nov 2011 exchange rate.
So the service may be fast but you are certainly paying for it.

I have to say, the Heathrow Express may be the best part about the airport it’s named after. This airport rail link will let you avoid the hassles of taking luggage on the Tube or dealing with a bus or taxi (although depending on your final stop «it helps you avoid the initial hassles of these things» may be more accurate). It takes you directly from the airport to Paddington Station; seeing as Paddington is located right by several major hotels, and offers easy access to a Tube stop within London itself, this makes it an ideal end-​of-​the-​line location.
The express stops at two platforms on its way out of the airport: one that serves Heathrow terminals 1, 2, and 3, and a second that serves terminal 5. Depending on which train you catch, your trip to the final stop at Paddington will be about 15 to 20-​some minutes long — quite a speedy trip in comparison to other travel options from the airport. But don’t think it’s a one way connection: trains depart from the airport AND from Paddington, about every 15 — 30 minutes, depending on the current schedule. And again, given Paddington’s central location and connections to the Tube and to other trains, the express should be quite convenient and easy to get to for most travelers, no matter what direction they’re heading.
The trains themselves are quite comfortable, with plenty of space set aside for baggage, and they offer a very smooth ride; I nearly fell asleep during the ride, it was so relaxing. Well, mostly relaxing. There’s a looped video of ads and information that plays during your journey that I could have done without. But it didn’t play anything too obnoxious, at least.
Express tickets are super easy to get, too: they can be purchased at the two Heathrow Airport stations, at Paddington, from ticket sellers in all of Heathrow’s terminals, on board the train, online or via mobile app. I feel obligated to note that if you’re looking to budget your trip as much as possible, you may want to look into the Heathrow Connect train service instead — they cost a little bit less than the express, which costs £20. But if you’re in a rush, definitely go for the Express — the extra couple dollars might make all the difference if you need to get somewhere at a specific time!

The seats are comfy. The wifi is free. The customer service was helpful. I kind of wish this ride was more than 15 minutes so I can take a nap!

My review is based on experience with Customer Service or maybe I should say lack their of. It is impossible to get a customer service rep on the phone just to complete the refund process for an unused ticket. The customer representative requested my credit card number via email. Really? Their phone either rings with no answer or when I am able to get through I stay on hold for 20 minutes without speaking to a customer rep. I am very disappointed.

The service is exactly what is says it is, one stop from Paddington Station To Heathrow. The «meh» rating is for them charging around 20 pounds for the trip in «express saver» class, which is bascially «drain the tourists of their money».

This was a very easy way to get to the heart of London from Heathrow Airport.
There were many kiosks for buying tickets as soon as we left the secure part of the airport, and lots of signs directing us on how to get to the station. The train arrived quickly, was very comfortable and had plenty of room for our luggage. It’s not cheap, but it got us to the Paddington Station within 15 minutes. The free WiFi worked well, which was handy.
We had train tickets from King’s Cross to Edinburgh a few hours after our arrival, so time was of the essence, and it was definitely worth it to pay extra to take this route instead of the tube. On the way back, we were in less of a hurry, so it made more sense to save a few pounds and stick with the Underground. It’s nice that there’s multiple public transportation options to get here.
Saving money– take the Tube; in a hurry– take Heathrow Express.

There’s no faster or more hassle free way to get from central London to Heathrow.
At the peak of my travels I’ve seen up to three round trips per month to and fro T5.
Trains reliably depart every 30 minutes and seldom see delays. My awaiting Addison Lee at Paddington makes every journey feel absolutely seamless.
They now have a new app for those inclined to make pre-​purchases.

As I’m standing here on this platform wondering why I have to wait 30 minutes during evening rush hour (for a train that was advertised departing every 15 minutes) I can’t help but reflect that I could have taken Über for only 10 pounds more – with the taxi from Paddington Station to my flat they were the same price. Though I did get to participate in the stampede to the taxi stand with the Heathrow Express option, an added bonus.
Sometimes this is your best option. A journey on the Express can take 45 minutes if perfectly timed, in today’s case my journey was 75 minutes. A car is the same deal – It’s about 45 minutes to downtown London without traffic by car, though traffic can add to the journey.
Money and time is effectively a wash – it depends on whether you consider dragging yourself and your bags around train stations is a bonus or not.

Transit run efficiently and effectively — I give Heathrow Express 5 stars! Clean with a friendly team. I had a free-​upgrade with British Airways to their Business First cabin — and it was well appointed (power sockets, newspapers, comfortable seats). I would not hesitate to use Heathrow Express in the future.

Reminder to self: avoid international travel the day after a Unilocal event … I haven’t fully recovered from last night ‘s fun and everything seems to take a lot longer today.
Perfect excuse to pay that little (well, quite a bit especially if you pay on board the train!) bit extra for a much shorter journey to Heathrow. I live in West London, and while the trip takes almost a full hour by tube, I can make it in half that time.
Except for today, everything seems to have conspired against me. Instead of the regular 15 mins frequency trains are leaving every half hour, then crawling along due to engineering works. This makes the extra fiver even more painful — by the time I remembered that I didn’t have a ticket, the driver was running a test; by the time the doors could be operated again there were only a few minutes left till departure.
Signal strength of the free wifi is almost zero, so paying for this review after all.
Oh well still better than the tube with a hangover.

Heathrow terminal 5 to Paddington is 20 minutes. About us$ 50 round trip. You can charge your phone on the train too.
It is expensive, but after a 12hr flight, I just want get to central London. Most people take a cab or the Underground from Paddington, so add that and it’s £££. It’s either 15min or 1hr+ of your time. It’s all about convenience and time for me, so I don’t mind shelling out the extra £

— erstens ein kilometerlanger Walk vom neuen LH Terminal zum Zug
— zweitens nur ein paar paar wenige Sitzplätze am Bahnsteig, dann darfst Du noch für 21 GBP Dir die Beine in den Bauch stehen, bis der Zug endlich kommt
— drittens ist er dann noch dreckig, mal durchsaugen — auch unter tags — wäre ein Tipp. Und will man seine ausgelesene Zeitung in einem Papierkorb etc verstauen… ebenfalls Fehlanzeige. Auch diese Notwendigkeit wurde von den Erbauern dieses teuren Zuges vergessen.
Fazit: das nächste Mal nehmen wir wieder für kleines Geld den normalen Underground! Dauert auch nur ein paar Minuten länger und man kommt dann auch wirklich in der City und nicht irgendwo an den Outskirts in Paddington an!

Heathrow Airport to Paddington station in 15 minutes? It’s true… all of your Heathrow airport transportation woes have been dissolved. Efficiency does come with a hefty price tag, though — but isn’t £21 worth the convenience (and your sanity)?
Fast, clean, and borderline soothing, I can’t imagine dealing with the alternatives. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste time waffling: make Heathrow Express your only way of connecting with central London.

The Express costs some extra bucks, but if you don’tind waiting fir the right train or taking your time to get in to London it is so worth it.
When you arrive at Heathrow just before luggage claim there sometimes is a guy selling Express tickets. With return it is £32. Buy from him to save time. (He accepts cards). Or you can buy from machines just before the trains.

Very clean new looking train cars. Also a nice agent on the platform to give directions if you are confused but it’s a really easy system to figure out. The trains offer free connections between all LHR terminals that don’t take long at all — just 4 minutes between T5 and Heathrow Central (T123).
The ride between T123 and Paddington in Central London is just 15 minutes on the Heathrow Express. You can buy tickets onboard at a higher price. Buying them online is easy though you just print it out and it’s scanned on board. If you travel a lot you can buy a package of tickets at a discount. There are also ticket machines on the platform if you didn’t pre buy and have time to buy before getting onboard.
This is the only way I will consider going between London and LHR. There are many hotels right by Paddington Station that you can stay in and be in a great location for enjoying London.

Mit 16 Pfund für die einfache Fahrt nicht billig aber dafür super schnell (15 min non-​stop bis Paddington Station), sauber, neu und mit kostenlosem Wifi das beste was man machen kann.
Von Paddington kommt man überall mit dem Taxi oder der U-​Bahn hin. Tickets kann man online buchen aber auch ganz bequem direkt am Flughafen oder noch am Bahnsteig kaufen. Der Heathrow Express fährt in der Regel alle 15 Minuten.
Sowas vermisse ich an so einigen deutschen Flughäfen.

Der Heathrow Express ist die einfachste Art vom Heathtrow Airport nach London zu Reisen. Direkt zur grossen Paddington Station. Von da an kommt man überall hin. Das Ticket kann man bequem im Internet buchen, direkt aufs Smartphone kopieren, und ist ab Kauf einen Monat gültig und kann je 1 mal hin und zurück gebraucht werden.

Irgendwie spukt in vielen Köpfen noch immer die Annahme (ist ja auch wahr), dass Heathrow a.) weit draussen und b.) schlecht angebunden ist. An a.) kann die Kontinentalverschiebung der nächsten Jahrtausende etwas machen, doch b.) ist heute bereits falsch. Der Flughafenbetreiber BAA betreibt den Heathrow Express seit 1998. Er hat viel Lob erhalten, da er das alte Problem gelöst hat Reisende schneller in die/​aus der Stadt zu bekommen. Und das noch umweltfreundlich. Doch damit der Sensationen nicht genug: Die Antriebssysteme der Züge sind von Siemens und stellen damit den einzigen bekannten Fall dar, in dem Siemens problemlos einem Flughafenbetreiber ein Personenbeförderungsmittel zur Verfügung stellte. Doch damit nicht genug: Der Heathrow Express fährt in beide Richtungen (Paddington Station und Heathrow) alle 15 Minuten (Frequenz) und er benötigt auch nur 15 Minuten (Fahrzeit). Na bitte. Endlich ist man schneller in der Stadt, als die Flugzeit dauerte. Dass der Spass ganz billig ist, das hat aber auch niemand enthauptetbe– meinte ich, be-​. 20, GBP one way, das ist fett. Dafür gibt es in der zweiten Klasse auch keine Air Condition, was ja auch an 340 Tagen im Jahr in England nicht nötig ist. Dooferweise war ich am 345. Tag dort. Aber es gaht ja auch schnell vorbei. Unterhalten wird man mit den News des Vortages, heute also mit einer spanischen Zugentgleisung, auch nicht perfekt. Aber Heathrow ist an die Stadt gerückt (seit 15 Jahren, ich habe es aber erst heute bemerkt).
