A Rarity these day’s is a good, wholesome, value for money eating establishment and here it is, adjacent to Borough Market. Don’t expect too much in the way of luxury and haute cuisine, but the cutlery and tables are clean and the kitchen staff wear those blue glovey things so I guess the hygeine meets requirements. Famous for its sandwiches ranging from Brie and italian salami to chicken avocado and peppers £2.40 to take away. Jacket potato with chilli con carne, eat in £4.20. Tea and coffee £1. As mentioned in previous reviews a few years old now is the good old full english breakfast and its still going strong at £3.90. oh by the way the service is good. I’ve bumped up to 4 stars for the price and tasty food.

Pretty cheap breakfast and lunch café, considering that it is just right across the road from Borough Market. Two scrambled eggs on toast was £3.60, and a «risotto» with chilli con carne was £4.50. However, the risotto was actually just soggy long grain rice. The portion was huge though, probably enough to feed two, and the chilli was spicy and tasty. The eggs and toast were standard. Overall, good place to go if you can’t afford the exorbitant prices in Borough market, but the food is very simple and standard.

Urgh! This place give give me the heepy jeebeys! I chose this café as a morning hang out to work from as it advertises free wifi. As I arrived I was ‘welcomed’ by the surly waitress and told that I could only sit until 12, after that the wifi would be turned off until after 2pm — erm, right okay then! Having missed brekkie I decided to go for the tuna cibatta and was hoping it would not be the dried up tuna lump sat on a plastic white roll, I also ordered a coffee. Now I’m no coffee expert but apart from being hot I have little to compliment the coffee on and the food I ordered was exactly what I saw, it had a gritty taste. Say all that and even though the toilet was a little terrifying this place was disappointing yet not a complete let down. It was cheap, the seat comfy and even it it was a bit rundown it felt cosy. Such a shame they haven’t made more of it — rest here at your own risk!

Pretty standard sandwich shop — actually owned(I believe) by the same people as the Island on union street, and as such serves a pretty much identical menu. Funky building. Pretty average food and cost wise for this area. What lets it down is it can be very crowded at lunchtimes and difficult to find somewhere to sit. Not really their fault but something bearing in mind if you head there at lunchtime.
