Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel

I would not recommend this hotel. Staff is incompetent amd rude. They are supposed to be a 5 star hotel yet all signs point to 2 star. It makes no sense that when you check in they dont have the reservation that you made amd give you a kids bed on a smoking floor. Who has smoking floors? I am very sad that marriot bought starwood. There goes good hotel experiences.
Let me add to the fun. So they promise to switch rooms amd that when i return from work (btw being from cali) it makes for long days. I have a evening meeting and whats so awesome? No room. First they tell you its ready then make you sit around. They say they have challenges. I think the challenge is they dont know how to run a hotel.

Bad start for a late arrive but they made it better..

I love this hotel! The location is perfect! Close to Many restaurants and every where you want to be! I have never had a bad stay here! The hotel I think is beautiful and the concierge level is worth it!

I can’t express enough how kind and considerate the Executive lounge staff is here.
This is our third stay at this location and we are not disappointed. Nikki, Pablo, Lisa, Anka & Freddy are some of my favorites that really stand out as people who’s care and attention exceed the standards of excellence that anyone could expect when working away from home.
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because some of the check in staff is definitely efficient, but nearly to the point of being cold. They always work to give us upgrades and make the best of our experience, but it’s typically a robotic interaction.
Also the floor some of my family members were staying on had a strange almost garbage like smell in the hallway that persisted throughout the stay. A tiny detail to be sure.
I’m really splitting hairs because ultimately the experience here, the location and the quality of the rooms is wonderful. The food is delicious and the housekeeping staff greets you warmly when you walk through the halls. I am bringing family from overseas to stay here next month with us and will continue to come back every chance I get!

We had a great stay at the Grosvenor House. The staff, room and accommodations were wonderful. I know it is pricey but it was a once in a life time splurge. The room service has a wide range of Indian options which was fantastic for me since my partner has a plain grilled cheese sandwich palette. The central location is perfect for traveling about in London and not the crazy flash mob scene on the Southern Bank. My understanding is the room size is large for London. Having been a frequent visitor to New York, New York this is quite true.
The executive lounge has an extensive list and the drinks are enough to payoff the price of the additional fee charged. It was well worth it for us to have this option.
I appreciate all the assistance the staff gave us and had a wonderful experience!

Not what you expect from a JW. The excellent customer service saved them from getting 1 star.
A mixed bag. great amenities in the hotel, really good exec lounge, good food, close to lots of great places and transportation. but…
What nobody tells you is that in the summer the hotel is taken over with kids running riot in the halls leaving garbage everywhere, screaming and running in the halls until 2 AM. Parents are all in the lobby or restaraunt and leave herding the kids to their inept maids.
We complained the first morning and they upgraded us that day to a suite, which was very nice. But the kids continued running pell mell in the hotel until ²⁄₃ AM. Never seen this in any hotel let alone a JW in London.
The upgraded room was awesome but what the hell happened to the JW brand?

My colleague was staying in the hotel. Came for a drink. Made to move from table to table by supervisory staff because of silly arbitrary rules. No respect for well behaved customers who just wanted to spend some money in their hotel. Wait staff were very attentive.

As a loyal Marriott customer, I expect quite a lot from JW properties. This hotel was promising upon entry — great smell and easy check in process. The concierge was knowledgable and friendly.
The room was ok. Nothing special.
The executive lounge was disappointing. The happy hour had limited selections and we were told that although there was food out, the service was closed as it was 5:59 pm. I just wanted to grab some cheese and crackers! Also, the breakfast selection was sad. Cold, runny eggs with undercooked bacon. Even the salt and pepper shakers wouldn’t work!
After staying at the JW in Bangkok, this hotel was a huge let down.

My room was supposed to be ready at 3:00 and it is now 5:00 and I still do not have a room. I am sitting in the lobby with my small children for over one hour and all they have offered us is one free coke. We have been traveling all day and are completely exhausted. The hotel is overly crowded and run down. I will NEVER come here again! Buyer beware!

Stayed here for two nights but thought that for the price it was charging, the room was quite small and not that modern. Service was okay though as the staff were quite nice, accomodating and prompt. It is located centrally just a few minutes from Marble Arch and it’s quite close to Hyde Park too.

I cancelled a Rewards reservation through the Marriott system two days prior to the deadline but was still charged rack rate for a night’s stay as a no-​show, $ 650. Then the horrors began. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They blamed me for the problem and refused to reverse the charge. After escalating the situation to «Mr Marriott’s» office I get a half ass apology suggesting it is still my fault and a promise to reverse the charge but it still hasn’t happened yet. Atrocious behavior This is how they treat Platinum Members! Fortunately I didn’t actually stay here and ruin my vacation, but chose the Park Lane Marriott instead and had a wonderful stay there. Based on my experience the staff here may be better suited to careers as dustmen.

Just an amazing hotel and worth every penny. The staff was so accommodating when our flight came in late sans our luggage due to (what else is new) a total mess up with our flights from San Diego, CA. Provided us with things we needed free of charge including bites from the mini bar and kept in constant touch about our luggages wear abouts. The room was beautiful, the mattress comfortable, impeccably clean, massive closet space, beautiful area to stay. We booked a high tea 2 days in advance so it could be gluten free for me. The best gluten free tea EVER. Gluten free bread was also available in all of the restaurants any time you asked. I was very ill one day and had to stay in and they sent up tea when the phoned and found I was ill, too, without even asking. I then ordered up some of the best soup ever. The lobby was gorgeous. It really was a treat staying here, even though it wiped out quite a bit of my saved up Marriott points. It made being in London for a week after the long flight really, really nice and a great part of the experience having not been in several years. Only one complaint would be the guest internet service, but not a deal breaker. It was pricey and slow and we found had we asked earlier they would have tried to speed it up and knock off the charge. Hopefully this has been an improvement since then. It has been several months since I stayed. While this place is as splurge, as I said again, it was worth it. Having a little luxury when you have an illness and have survived a long flight is worth it to me. I would spend it again.

Experienced an old school British tea. Quiet and classy, and the staff was more than kind.

Nach meinem letzten Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel in einem Zimmer mit Blick in den Belüftungsschacht, hatte ich dieses mal ein deutlich besseres Zimmer erwischt. Meine Kollegen waren aber teils wieder in «Kellerräume» untergekommen. Es ist erschreckend, dass solche Räume in dieser Preisklasse zu finden sind!
Der Service war gut, jedoch waren die Klimaanlagen in den Konferenz– sowie Speiseräumen teils ausgefallen/​kaputt und die Luft war schlecht und heiß. Die Qualität der Speisen war zudem nicht dem gewöhnten Standard in solch einer Preisklasse entsprechend!
Für mein diesmal besseres Zimmer würde ich 4 Sterne geben. Der Rest passte aber einfach nicht. Außen hui, innen pfui könnte das Konzept sein :-(

Really enjoyed this hotel. The lobby is covered in gorgeous flowers when you walk in. When we first checked in it was all purple orchids. After a couple of days it changed to yellow flowers. Love the feel!
Room was spacious and nice. Two issues that caused me to give this only 4 stars were the bed and the bathroom. For this level of a hotel I expect a higher quality bed that was more comfortable. The bedding was fine it was just the bed. For the bathroom the towel heater was on and I learned about this by burning myself. And the drain in the shower was a little slow. Outside of that it was a very spacious bathroom.
Concierge lounge was outstanding! We only used it for breakfast but they had a huge variety and the service was fantastic.
Gym was great! Large space with plenty of cardio (bikes, treadmills, step masters and row machines), machines, weights, cables and even a smith machine.
JW steakhouse sat at the bar for drinks and a small snack. Drinks and bartenders were great! Tortilla soup was okay. Sweet potato fries and bread were yummy.
They have a good Starbucks on property and location of the hotel is perfect. It sits right on Hyde park. The concierge desk was also incredibly helpful. Overall great service and great hotel.
Recommend this hotel and looking forward to coming back.

ACCOMMODATIONS
I had just moved to London and this was the hotel I was selected to be accommodated in.
My first impression when I walked through the door was a 10! The staff was very attentive to customers arriving and if there was a wait. The lobby smelled of fresh flowers and daily there were fresh settings.
Despite asking for an early check in my room was not yet ready but the gentleman at the check in counter had worked his magic to move me to a room that was available. Quick and painless overall.
Room accommodations are very spacious with a lovely marble bathroom equipped with a good size soaking tub and duel headed shower with great pressure. Turn down, laundry/​dry cleaning and room service were top notch.
FOOD & DRINK
The first marvel that caught my eye being from the US was the extensive bourbon collection the JW Steakhouse had. Robert the barman was very knowledgeable of their stock and it was nice that he too had an appreciation for the craft. I was impressed with not only some of the rare small batch bourbons on the shelves but that they barrel mixed cocktails as well. They also have a great selection of beers, tonic, cider and wine. Enjoy a meal on their outside heated patio overlooking Hyde Park.
Breakfast Buffett is the way to go for price and options for the hungry patron. I highly recommend the lobster and any aged steak on the steakhouse menu… all cooked and seasoned to perfection.
They also offer afternoon tea and other dinner selections in an adjacent room across from the Steakhouse & Starbucks.
I enjoyed sitting in the library near the fireplace to unwind in the evening with a drink of choice which came complimentary with crisps and nuts.

This is Mayfair… enough said :)

Free public WIFI offered in the lobby/​library and dining areas. Pricey purchase for availability in the room unless you have a suite, then it’s included.

This property is 1 of my favorite hotels in the world. The bellmen remember my name even if I haven’t been to the property in over a year. Class would be an understatement. The lobby always has a beautiful gigantic bouquet of flowers that instantly hits your nose with a scent of fresh flowers and clean air. It’s one of my favorite things to look forward to when arriving. The staff is always extra courteous and I’m a very very very picky hotel guest.

Its very convenient having the salon in the lobby for when you need a last minute hair cut. The ballroom is absolutely gorgeous and probably one of the nicest in all of London. The Pride of Britain awards has to be my favorite event held there.
The red bar is great for a drink or 6. The living room for tea in the afternoon is also a perfect setting.
All in all, I love this hotel.

Stayed here back in 2011 after our 2 week cruise on the Baltic.
ATMOSPHERE:
You’re greeted by a small courtyard lined with exotic cars, and hotel staff dressed in formal wear. A very nice touch to the beginning (or for us the ending) of your stay in a world class city. The lobby is a mix of old and modern décor & colors.
ROOM 402:
Even our standard room felt like a small suite. Very over-​sized and spacious with high ceilings. The colors are bold and vibrant, almost medieval-​like.
No free Wi-​Fi.
The marble-​clad bathroom is spacious with a shower/​tub and one sink.
PARK ROOM & LIBRARY:
My partner wanted to have afternoon tea because after all, we were in London darling. He loved it. I liked it. We had a whole mix of small sandwiches, fruit salads, scones, and champagne. It was a nice ambiance but just too formal and uppity for me.
SERVICE:
We really didn’t utilize much more than the concierge, who were all helpful and informative.
OVERALL:
Beautiful hotel, pricey and centrally located.

This hotel is wonderful. The rooms are beautiful, the staff is excellent, and it’s location is fantastic. When staying here you’re right in the heart of Mayfair with Knotting Hill and the West End not far away. Not to mention that Hyde Park is just a stone’s throw away. Finally, the hotel pool is a brilliant amenity that we used often.
My family was able to get an amazing discount with this place and we had a life changing week in London as a result.
I suppose the only downside is the price because were it not for the deal we got we couldn’t have stayed at Grosvenor. But, if you can afford to. You should stay there.

This hotel is in one of the loveliest neighborhoods in all of London, enjoying park views of Hyde Park across Park Lane from front-​facing rooms and the lovely Park Room lounge.
I stayed here on the executive lounge floor for four days and had an amazing time. The bedrooms are incredibly comfortable: down, white linens, lovely rose throw on the beds; arm chair with footrest; desk with note paper and hotel information; amazing white and black marble bathrooms.
The housekeeping staff do an amazing job at keeping everything spotless and fresh.
The staff in the seventh floor executive lounge are role models of patience and hospitality, assisting guests with their beverages and snacks/​breakfast or helping make a reservation at a local restaurant.
I enjoyed one of the best views possible from the back side of the hotel on Park Street, with a skyline featuring the London Eye and a corner of the Westminster complex. If it hadn’t been snowing and overcast during my stay, I’m sure I could have seen as far as St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Delicious breakfast beverages and pastries to be had in the little coffee shop and amazing candlelit dinners to be had in the steakhouse. But my all-​time favorite is the tea time in the Park Room – we did the Ann’s Tea and could not believe the delicious treats and finger sandwiches. Very filling and all displayed amazingly. Try to get a seat facing/​near the large picture windows that view past Park Lane into Hyde Park.
I can’t wait for my next visit.

We stayed here using reward points after traveling in India for the past six weeks. What a treat! It was so nice to be pampered and feel like royalty, if only for a night. Our suite was spacious, the décor classy. The color palette used is soothing, and all the details as high end as they should be (furniture, towels, etc.) Toiletries smell delightful. Service is impeccable. As a platinum member, we had access to the Executive Lounge, which was nice, but a bit disappointing in the food offerings. It’s a shame for a hotel of this caliber to be showed up by international country cousins, Courtyard by Marriott (the lounges in Seoul and Shanghai were amazing).
We didn’t find the location to be an issue at all, very convenient in fact. Hyde Park is right out the door, and all the major London icons are easy walking distance.
