Cozy restaurant that felt more like someone’s flat than a restaurant, even when visiting at around 7:30pm on a Saturday. Service was very quick. Highly recommend the Soutzoukakia as a starter!

I went to Greek Affair for a dinner with friends. The premises are quite small and remind very much of a cosy living room, making it ideal for an intimate dinner date. The food was delicious and so was the red house wine, a merlot. We particularly liked the spanakopita(spinach pie) and the grilled aubergine with halloumi as starters. We also shared a greek salad, which was very tasty, also thanks to the delicious extra-virgin olive oil they used. I had a vegetarian moussaka and it was mouthwatering! I will definitely go back as the service was extremely friendly and courteous and I am curious to try other dishes from the menu. If you are vegetarian your choice might be limited, particularly in the main courses, however the selection of starters will make up for it. I would recommend a visit, but I would also recommend a reservation at dinner time, especially if you are in a group.

Great food from a real greek family. Everything is home made by them. It is a small restaurant and does reservation(to make sure you get a table make one, because after 7pm you may not get one). Don’t miss the Taramussalata. Wonderful. They have special course prices from 6 to 7pm. And Greek beer.

Cosy place, good service, very good food, however a bit expensive. One down no pita bread served with Grand mezze which comes in at 18.90, so for 35 with wine & service, I also expect hot pita bread to enjoy my dips with. On the up side was 14 courses and plenty of good food. Iwill be going back for set menus.

I recently popped into the Greek affair while looking for something different for lunch. Th premises is quite small and intimate and I suspect it would be a nice place for a first or second date with it’s cosy and friendly décor. The restaurant does a limited lunch time set menu, that is also avaialble for take away. I had the squid in tomato sauce, a dessert and drink all for £4.95 The squid was tender and not rubbery, and was served on a small bed of rice, my only complaint was I felt like I wanted more, however it was a tantalising glimpse, and the customers sat at the tables next to us seemed to really be enjoying the food. This is definitely on the list of places I want to go to for a proper sit down meal. I only gave this 3 stars because I wasn’t there for very long and I didn’t try the menu extensively.

I’ve found myself here time and again as it is the perfect spot for a quick meal before a movie at the Gate or the Coronet. The starters come out very quickly — I love the Taramasalata, but the bread is just weird! Not pita, but rather a thick, fluffy white loaf… not sure why they think this is Greek style, perhaps it is but I’ve never seen it in Greek cuisine before. My most recent main was AWFUL. The Salmon fillet. Just way way way too oily, even the rice was DRIPPING in it. Gross, can’t get the taste out of my mouth. The creamy chicken is decent, but again, not very Greek. Try it as a quite bite before the movies, and stick with the starters and a glass of the pretty good house wine.

I’ve decided to write reviews on the way home instead of reading books. This is my first on the iPhone so please excuse any bad grammar or typos. Now, I’ve read some bad reviews on this place, but in it’s defense, I had an excellent experience all round. I started with the octopus, which I think was the highlight of the meal and would recommend wholeheartedly, and chose to go for the slow roasted joint of lamb for my main. I ended, of course, with an espresso(I regret not getting a Greek coffee). I struggled how to rate this place. I couldn’t give it 5( Unilocal) stars because it obviously isn’t on par with that of the best, 5(Michelin) star restaurants. Nevertheless, it was«great in class» which is why I still only gave it three stars. If I were rating the restaurant with others in it’s league I would have given it 4. I recommend Unilocal institute some sort of class rating system so restaurants are fairly judged. Just a thought. On second thought, It’s not fair that it should be robbed of it’s 4 star rating because Unilocal doesn’t have a class system. I give it 4. Hooray:)

I might say I’m a little biased with my experience at the Greek Affair because I was absolutely STARVING. But I must say, I was very, VERY pleasantly surprised with the food here. The décor of the restaurant was cute and cozy. There were many options on the menu as well, deciding was quite difficult. So, I absolutely love Greek cuisine. Last summer we went on holiday to the Greek islands, so I feel that I have a pretty good idea of what is good/bad Greek cuisine at this point. But man, this place hit the spot. I must recommend the octopus starter. It was absolutely divine, hands down the best I’ve had. And every time I see it on the menu, I make sure that it’s on the table. Also, the sauce from the appetiser was delicious for dipping the amazing, traditional Greek bread as well. As I love to taste a little bit of everything, I opted for two starters instead of a main, including the baked aubergine(in tons of garlic, of course) and the prawns and feta. It was all delicious and more than enough. I even had some to take away, which let me tell you, I am so excited to dive into tomorrow. My man devoured a more traditional plate of lamb and risotto, which he was extremely pleased with as well. Even though we were enjoying a bit of seafood for our meal, we opted for a carafe of the house red, which I highly recommend. It was a very easy drinking red which tasted delicious with pretty much everything. Mmmm, I’m ready for round two just now. I just wish that I had enough room for the baklava, as it is my favourite. Next time, next time…

The Greek Affair has a fantastic atmosphere. It’s quiet, just off of the chaos of Notting Hill Gate. The interior is warm, cozy, and inviting. The night we visited it was freezing and we were seated by the door but the staff made us comfortable by bringing us a portable heater. We were well set up. Unfortunately, the food was horrible. I started with the fried cheese. It was battered and deep fried. It tasted like oil, not cheese. Fried cheese is so good on its own, that it does need to be battered and fried. Then we had hummus. The hummus was fine, but I can make the same at home. When I buy hummus I want something that is better than I make at home; otherwise, why bother? The restaurant serves bread instead of pita, which is annoying in itself, but when the bread is as dry as sandpaper, it’s super annoying. Why do they serve bread that tastes like it was made in a factory, and then set out to dry for days before being served? I then had the spanakopita. Generally this is my favorite Greek dish. This one was heavy, totally lacking in flavor and taste, and I quit after two bites. This was one of the most unsatisfying meals I’ve had in a long time. I wanted to love this place because of the great atmosphere, but eck.

Coming in here after coming out of ‘The Gate’ cinema in Notting Hill, a couple of nearby restaurants, including a very-posh-looking Indian place called Malabar, were full, so we ended up in the ‘Greek Affair’. Looking homely from the outside, with candles and a prominent rustic fireplace, we ventured inside. Split on 2 levels, there isn’t actually very much space and we were pushed into a corner downstairs by the the minibar. Signs of trouble were evident quite quickly: the chefs(cooks?) going outside for a fag break and the place had a bad case of badly laminated menu syndrome. The ‘feast’ section, which implied was a selection of mezze to start followed by a choice of mains was actually their choice of mezze followed by their choice of mains: basically a like it or lump it situation. Food when it came out was rather variable — mezze was good, but the salad was 80% iceberg lettuce with 20% tomatoes — I could have done better than this when I was 13! By the end of the meal, after a charred, single one-inch square baklava, I had that sinking feeling, like a bad date, of just wanting to go home. Decent in some parts, but pretty damn bad in others, there are so many other better alternatives nearby: go there instead!
