We had beef tartare to start with, meat was nicely done tho pear wasn’t juicy enough. Shared bbq meat platter, bbq seafood platter and two portions of bbq pork with lettuce wraps and vegetable platter. BBQ was nice, it was done on the table(except the vegetables) but doesn’t smell that much. Each portion was a bit small… Also shared 2 spicy beef soup and spicy seafood soup and cakes between the 5 of us. Soups were nice tho cakes wasn’t fresh enough(soufflé didn’t have the chocolate melt, berry cake had BERY frozen fruit on top). Overall came up to £40 per person. I would say slightly pricy for the amount of food — considering we shared a lot of food so portion size wasn’t big, if anyone come as 2 ppl, their bill would be way higher(I would probably pay £30−35 for this much food).

I’ve been wanting Korean food for a while now, and found this place close to my work which suited me as I work late and don’t fancy coming into town at the weekends. The place smelled really good and by 8:30 I was ready to dig into a dish that’d warm me up from the inside. I ordered the veg bibimbap as it was on the menu and it was good. It lacked a little bit of salt and the chilli sauce wasn’t as hot as I’d expected but other than that it was delicious. The rice was lovely and crispy and the vegetables were perfect. It wasn’t as full of vegetables as I’d expected it to be and as the picture on the menu showed, so by the end of the meal I wasn’t very full. In future, I would order it with an egg. I’d like to try one of the bibimbap places in London to compare the dish.

I really enjoyed the meal here. My partner took me here for my birthday, as I really wanted Korean, and he’d heard good things about this place. We started with the tofu appetiser — fried tofu with a light soy sauce — which was good, not great. I didn’t love the texture of the tofu in this dish. We then had three dishes for the main: two BBQ dishes — beef(bulgogi) and chicken(soy) — and a vegetable dumpling soup. I ended up eating almost all the soup because my partner doesn’t eat mushrooms and the bowl was overwhelmingly filled with mushrooms. There was just no way to eat around them. The broth was good, and the dumplings weren’t bad. It was just not what I really wanted, I guess. The BBQ dishes were both really good, though I preferred the chicken(partner preferred the beef). They take care of cooking it for you, and are attentive and unobtrusive about it. For dessert, I really wanted to try to cheesecake but they were out, so I tried the traditional Korean dessert which reminded me of mochi filled with chocolate. I would have liked it, but there was too much chocolate and it was too rich — all I got, flavorwise, was thick chocolate with a hint of chewiness from the moch-like texture around it. That said, I thought everything was good — just not necessarily to my taste that night — so I’ll definitely plan to return.

If you are first time here, I recommend a Galbitang. Pretty darn tasty. I am a Korean.

Love Korean good and have eaten it all over the world, including 2 ½ years living in Korea. This is easily the most bizarre place I have ever been to. In Korean cuisine you always get Banchan or side dishes as part of the meal. Here everything was extra. You get pork barbecue for 9 pounds, then kimchi for 3, asst sides for 5 rice for 3 lettuce leaves3 onion salad 3 all of a sudden hour 9 pound meal is 25 pounds. Would be so much nicer if they just charged 25 pounds and made you feel like you got all this free stuff. Then the food itself. It was mediocre at best. Don’t understand how busy this place is, service and food were just not that good. Nice restaurant that has spent some nice money inside, but the whole picture blurs with the results.

This is an amazing Korean experience! I’ve been to the place a few times and would give it 5 stars every time. We always go for seafood pancake Pa Jaon(more like a omelette) and assorted pickles to start, mixed BBQ and Bibimbap. Good is great, very tasty and nicely spiced. Very social experience, will not disappoint!

I haven’t found any good Korean BBQ place in the city, so when my friend recommended this place, I tracked all the way to Edgware Road from Shoreditch! And I don’t think it was worth the trip. First off, it is a long walk from the Tube station and really hard to find. The interior is quite contemporary looking and fancy. Though it is a BBQ place, it doesn’t smell strong burnt meat as some Korean places, thanks to the super powerful vent on top of each of the table grill. It is a nice place, but the food didn’t measure up. To start, my friend and I ordered seafood pancake, Jap Chae and some kimchi. All the good Korean restaurants or the more authentic ones, will give you a few small plates of appetizers, pickled cucumbers, fermented beans, kimchi, etc., but at Gogi, we got nothing. The Jap Chae was good, but the seafood pancake was just OK. I think I can do a better pancake. For the grill we ordered Bulgalbi, bone in beef short rib and pork belly. The portions here were quite small, which wasn’t too bad for us, as neigh my friend nor me wanted to over eat. However, for guys, you probably should budget for 2 plates of meat per person. The server cooked the meat for us at the table and then cut it up into small pieces. I am not sure if the short rib meat was too thin or what, I found the meat to be dry and slightly rubbery, not the fatty and juicy bits I remember from other restaurants. At the very end, we got some vegetable Bibimbap which was very mediocre. I have confidence that there are much better Korean BBQ places in the city, and I will find it. That means, I will not be coming back here.

We heard about Gogi from a friend who lives in Maida Vale and was excited to try it, but unfortunately was disappointed. Food: We ordered the spicy squid and tang su yuk for starters. Both were just ok. The spicy squid portion wasn’t big, but wasn’t small. The tang su yuk pieces and portion of the dish were very small. For our main entrée we ordered two orders of the bulgalbi which again was also small. The meat tasted good and was BBQ’d on the table. For our side dishes, we ordered kimchi, one bowl of bap(rice) and one ssangchu which is the lettuce for the BBQ. Drinks: We ordered two bellini spritz which tasted like cough syrup with sparkling water. We could barely drink them so we ordered one diet coke and just tap water. Price: 71.70GBP for two people — totally overpriced. Ambiance: The restaurant is a nice size and clean. The good thing is that they have the BBQ on every table. It’s very dark and has red accents and lights around which seems like they’re trying to create a club feel in a way. Overall, it doesn’t have a feel or a vibe unfortunately. Service: The service was curt and not friendly. I received a call to confirm my reservation earlier in the day where the manager 1) told me that they only hold the tables for 15 minutes and 2) that they needed the table back by 9.00PM. Our reservation was at 7.30PM. After she heard my reply of «Oh ok, I didn’t know that when I booked the reservation» she dismissed my comment and said, «See you later tonight». I was turned off before even going to dinner by the call. The manager who called also waited on us and wasn’t friendly at all. She rushes you and makes you feel very uncomfortable. They also don’t take American Express and she was very rude about giving us the information. Lastly, I was so annoyed because the restaurant was close to empty after telling us we had to give up our table by 9.00PM. Would I go back? No. Gogi isn’t that good and has mediocre service. They should be ashamed charging 3.50 for kimchi, 2.50 for bap and 3.50 for ssangchu. It’s lettuce for heaven’s sakes.

My colleagues and I went to Gogi for my bday, and I was quite impressed! My first impression was that this is a place that focuses on its core(i.e., food) while being simple and down to earth on other things(e.g., interior décor). Second, their menu covers quite a spectrum, ranging from simple dishes(e.g., jjigae’s, pancakes) to relatively fancier ones(e.g., bossam, variety of BBQ). Third, all their dishes are actually solid. For example, jabchae(glass noodle with veggies and beef) is a dish that some restaurants oftentimes don’t put in enough effort and get wrong; however, Gogi got it down pretty well in all its elements(minus the slightly overcooked noodles with too little oil, ending in noodles sticking together). Finally, their drinks and desserts are legitimate as well; we had berry soju and a selection of different pastries for desserts, and we enjoyed them just as much as our main meal. All around a solid Korean place in a beautiful neighborhood. As a Korean, I’d recommend the place for sure.

Nice Korean venue — opened in 2013 so the interior is clean and modern. It is ran by a Korean business which runs toast and maguro in the area. Food is also good — quite authentic and good flavours in the most of the dishes. Down side?! Atmosphere — service is quite prompt but not friendly… This weird cold undertone is consistent through their venues. Serving staffs feel rather cold and it is not a feel good place — in fact, dinning out feels quite mechanical… I am not a huge fan for this reason… I have tried and all quite nice although they do have some off days… Pah jang Soft tofu chighe Yookhe jang All sides and rice need to be ordered which is common in London but I wish a neighbourhood joint like this serves food in true Korean style…
