A great chippy that doesn’t hold back on portion sizes and aren’t at all greasy. Also do chargrilled kebabs on top of a normal menu. (Takeaway — 31/​10/​2014)

If you are Claustraphobic avoid or you may need help as it is so cramped and narrow without any natural light. Food overpriced, small portions. 5 Kebabs and a drink each around £100. Go up to Stoke Newington get the same for half this price and better atmostphere.

Probably the best Fish and Chips you can find in East London! George realy takes pride in his operation… always ensuring the customer is happy. If you looking for a quality Fish and Chipy… I can promise you, you will not be dissapointed! a vast selections of souvlaki grilled meats is also on the menu… for me though. the Cod and Chips with tarter sause and ice Coca-​Cola (with a touch of lemon) hits the spot perfect … can’t wait for my next visit !!

I have to let everyone know that I love this place. As if you haven’t been there and you are local, I urge you to visit either for takeaway or eating in. Yes, it may be small with not too much seating in the back but who wants to sit in a draft restaurant listening to your own munching? The best restaurants in my opinion are full of vibrancy and life George definitely represents that. There’s a reason it’s won awards. It’s due to the fresh fish, which is battered in front of you. The lovely portions of chips, the friendly service and comfortable surroundings. It’s not meant to be a huge monopoly style restaurant like Pizza Express. Small is best. Having spoken to George recently about another favourite restaurant of mine in Enfield that serves fish and chips as well as scallops, oysters and alike, he revealed to me that they are actually planning to expand the restaurant and the kitchen so that they can cater for more and offer more on their menu. As a local to this restaurant, I feel very spoilt each time I go there. I haven’t mentioned the souvlaki for a reason that is because you will have to go there to sample its wondrous taste for yourself!

We visited a couple of evenings ago, having been driven out of the nearby restaurant we’d actually booked by the noise. The place has now changed its name to George’s Fish & Souvlaki Bar, though the take-​away fish and chip shop is still there and clearly doing a roaring trade.
Contrary to a previous review, I think this is a teensy bit over-​priced for an otherwise unassuming local business, but very good food and excellent service. We tried the lamb Souvlaki and the monkfish Souvlaki (chargrilled and skewered meat/​fish), both of which were tasty and well-​presented. The Aphrodite wine was very dry and crisp — much better than expected. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely visit again.

Brilliant. We love George and his friendly staff, well cooked food, and cheeky atttude. Not only fish and chips, but freshly coked kebabs in pitta bread. Gets very busy as city types get off the tube and walk up George Lane (no relation). The portions are large too — maybe get two between three, or one between two for a snack. A local gem.

Lovely fish and chips probs the best around. a lot of care is taken into making them and not too overpriced. friendly service, the owners are great and not impersonal at all, they are sociable and give you extra when they get to know your a regular!
I would recommend this place its fast convenient not outlandishly overpriced etc. Just a great place to grab grub!
