The first thing you need to know is that Garfunkles is a chain restaurant. I’m guessing it’s comparable to a Denny’s here in the US. We didn’t know that when we walked in, if we had we would’ve gone elsewhere, but we’d just arrived in London after nine sleepless hours at 36,000 feet in coach and weren’t clearheaded enough to figure it out. Our first meal in London –had– to be Fish and Chips. I just wish it hadn’t been so greasy and unappetizing. The mushy peas were alright, the chips /fries were OK for the most part, but the fish(Cod) was buried in an enormous mountain of breading. You had to dig through all that greasy breading to get to the actual fish. We had fish and chips later in the holiday at Harrods and it was outrageously better that the dreck we endured here. It’s a real shame because we liked the atmosphere, and the servers were friendly(and patient with jet-lagged travelers confused with British money). Perhaps we just chose the wrong item on the menu.

My girlfriend took me here for my birthday and treated me to the Black and Blue burger. I must say it was INCREDIBLE and to this day THE best burger I have ever had. My girlfriend pasta was nice too. Thank you for the lovely hospitality Garfunkels I’ll be seeing you soon!

Terrible food. Slow service(took 20+ minutes for food). Awful chain. Steer clear of Garfunkels.

This is a British version of the American’ Friday’s or Applebee’s fits the bill if you are travelling with children. Pleasant service adequate British food.

This is another example of my crew wandering around searching for food whilst ravenously hungry between tour bookings. We stopped because(1) we need food, and(2) we needed a restroom RIGHTNOW. The restroom was actually very nice – it had locks on the doors, it was clean, and it was adequately stocked with toilet tissue, paper towels, and soap. The food was average to slightly below average. I had the club sandwich which was pretty dry and flavorless. The chips(American french fries) were pretty standard but still tasty and I ate them instead of finishing my sandwich. The well-drinks had free refills because I ordered from the lunch menu. I was hot from the London heatwave we’re currently experiencing so that was a pleasant thing indeed. The hostess and our waitress were very very nice. They say service can make or break a meal, and they were super nice. It just didn’t help with the food being so mediocre. If I hadn’t needed the bathroom so bad, I would have gone somewhere else. Next time, I’ll hold it a bit longer… there were several better looking places a few doors down that I would have seen if I’d only pressed on. As a tourist with limited opportunities to eat in London, I am sad I spent one of those opportunities at Garfunkels.

The food is so-so, but it has free wifi, so it’s great if you’re traveling and don’t want to pay a million pounds for wifi in your hotel.

Talk about giving American food a bad reputation. Even if you’re obscenely hungry and almost completely out of food options, don’t do it. Strike #1 Found a deep red lipstick mark on the glass of water. Strike #2, 3, 4 and 5* Jalapeño Poppers: Each one had a sliver of jalapeño that lacked any kick to it. Plus, it came to our table cold. Fish & Chips: Menu touts this as their star dish. Stellar it was not. Fish was old, previously frozen and did not hold with the batter well. Mushy Peas: Mint explosion. Shrimps: Small, overcooked and gummy in texture. Throughout the meal, I was worried about getting food poisoning. Needless to say, I barely made a dent on what I ordered. Strike #6 The bill for a starter and two main dishes that my boyfriend and I ordered came at around 60 pounds. Overpriced for low-quality ingredients. To the management and investment team: This chain needs a MAJORMENUOVERHAUL.

I went to Garfunkels last year while I was on holiday in London. I know I should have reviewed sooner, but was just speaking with someone about the absolutely fabulous salad bar. I will never get over the pesto pasta. That was sooo good! Glad I’ll be back in London in 5 months!

Garfunkels is plain alright. Nothing special. Came here for Breakfast before heading off to the airport and noticed they don’t have a ton of options, but enough. I ordered the Fruit and Toast option. My meal came with a fairly large bowl of mixed fruit… some of which I could not identify or tell if it came from a can or not. It also came with some yogurt, and toast. I also opted to order some hash brows which were cooked crispy and quite good. It was a much larger meal than I normally eat and could not finish. The pricing of the meals was ok but the food did not wow me by any means. The lunch and dinner options looked a tad better but would likely not come back since there are so many other options in the area.

Wide variety of dishes on the menu and the a lot of comfort food. The staff are very friendly, the place is nice and its in a good location. The food, overall, is good but the chips are huge(some people like this, I just happen to like skinny chips) and the dips, like coleslaw, sometimes taste a bit funny. This place has fantastic desserts though, especially their sundaes. I do go back from time to time but it is not one of my favourite restaurants. Its really just ok.

Eh… Came here while on holiday in London. Our party was starving and it was our first day of exploring so we asked a policeman for a suggestion and he directed us here. The food was just decent and the service was nice. I had a steak sandwich, which was a bit dry, but still yummy. The location is good though, since it’s right in Leicester Square, you can be doing touristy stuff, then grab food quickly, and then set off to do some more sight seeing. Prices are a bit high, I guess because this is a tourist-y area, they can rake in the money that way. Or maybe I just thought that with the dollar being so weak compared to the £.

First impressions where fantastic, a nice little restaurant with the charm and beautiful décor, the menu was full of interesting dishes. The waiter unfortunately wasn’t that switched on but was helpful none the less. However the food when it arrived didn’t look so appetising, and taste was even worse. I ordered a chicken bacon burger, as one has been away from fast American style food for awhile. The chicken was hard in some parts and had bits of hard threads of skin, it wasn’t a pleasing texture. The chunky chips where very soft, and don’t even get me started on the onion rings, they where just rings of fat, I wondered where my onion went in the cooking process. Also does anyone know if normal traditional coleslaw is suppose to be spicy, If it is nobody told me, left a horrible taste in my mouth for a few hours. It was an outrage, disgusting slop served and then the waiter wanted a tip, ha. Won’t be returning.

My first trip to this chain was last year when I had just moved to London. It was impressive from the first with its varied menu and friendly staff. Service was quick and the food was delicious. I had the cheeseburger with bacon and cheese and homemade fries with salsa dip. Drinks come in large, generous servings and the food is rationed out nicely. Desserts are something special, particularly the chocolate fudge cake, served with fresh cream and hot chocolate sauce. Salivating remembering it!

I made a trip here after a long shopping day in Camden with my hubby and our friend. The service we had was really good and we got seated immediately. The prices were moderate considering the fare that they offered(Burgers, Fish & Chips, & etc). It wasn’t the best food that i had while i was in England but i thought for a after a long day kind of eatery, i was pretty happy. I ordered the Fish & Chips with a Stella and i was pretty pleased. I would probably go back the next time i’m in London.

This restaurant chain features British and American favorites. The quality is a couple of notches above fast food but nobody is going to mistake this for gourmet cuisine. Stick to simple choices like burgers and salads and you’ll be OK.

If you’re in London, there are many of these restaurants to choose from in most areas of the city. I remember first visiting back in the late 80s with my parents, and obviously, they’re still around today. Its quite an unremarkable restaurant, to be honest, and opinion is usually divided as to whether people love them or hate them. For me, they serve a purpose and do it well — the food is good, but unspectacular, and for the most part its reasonably priced. Serviced is usually good, although occaionally you might encounter a language issue with some waiting staff. All restaurants are clean and well looked after, and if you’re out with the kids then they’re happy to accomodate you. This particular branch is obviously ofetn busy because of the location, but it never takes very long for you to be seated. Worth a look — not spectacular by any means, but not bad at all on the whole.
