Float

Floatation therapy was always one of those faddish holistic treatments that you always heard about when it first came on the scene but didn’t really take seriously. Lying in a tank of salt water for £50 sounds rather like a con to me.
It wasn’t until a family member recently gave me a float voucher for my birthday that my opinion changed. There’s really something otherworldly about this experience. Yes, you can float in the Dead Sea for the same detressing effect, but there’s something to be said about the pod-​like container, the silence, the nakedness (yes, it’s advised) and the stillness. Once you close the pod door to the outside world, It was very much like returning to the womb.
I felt more relaxed than I’d done for weeks before, and my back felt as it had been relieved by a professional Chiropractor and I slept like a baby that night. I’ll be coming back for a little detoxification on New Year’s Day…
