It is my local curry house and for some reason, over the year and half living in the neighborhood, I’ve never made it here. Today, I decided to do a quick takeaway for lunch. The menu is quite interesting, with all sorts of different curry names and since I am no expert of curry, I had to ask the server for recommendation. Quite frankly his first answer didn’t help, because it was the usual«Everything is good». I always get a bit skeptical if a server tells me everything is tasty. After much probing, he recommended some tomato based curry that is not on the menu. My food came and since I was in a hurry, I didn’t check and ran off. It felt a bit light. When I got home, I found out that besides a box of rice and some pappadums, my whole lamb curry was missing! I had to went back and collect it, which is utterly annoying. When I finally sat down to have lunch, I found the curry to be very greasy and not well seasoned. I was quite disappointed. The curry itself was quite reasonably priced at around 6 something, but the rice alone was 2.50 which was a bit of a rip off. Overall, it is still a cheap meal, but it felt so heavy because of all the butter.

I would say this is a solid 3. It is actually a small decent place that I would come to again. The food is much better than the service, which isn’t bad, but rather just«ok» The dishes are appropriately spicy and I enjoyed myself.

A friend of mine has been coming here every week for about 10 years, he comes here because he says it is very consistently average and he knows what he’s going to get. Having been here, I am in full agreement. It’s all very OK, OK service, OK food, OK location. Nothing spectacular and to be honest, not the best place for an Indian lunch if you know the area. If you don’t know the area it’s fine, come here you won’t be disappointed, you won’t be elated either.

Excellent food! It’s amazing you could turn up in a group of 25 people and the quality of food is still on top form. Highly recommended.

For some reason, after rolling out of the great British beer festival and making our way home, we always gravitated towards dil chad. Probably because it is just by Liverpool Street and we were too drunk to find Brick Lane, but in all honestly the food is better than anything I’ve had in London’s curry core. Again, maybe due to the gallons of ale, but maybe not. The location is excellent; just off the busy street enough to not be swamped and just close enough to be enormously convenient to commuters. It is well priced and the food is excellent, albeit in a traditional London curry house. This is not fine dining, but it is good dining. Just the sort of thing you need after a day of real ale, wasabi peas and pork scratchings. Also, it is usually busy, which is usually a good sign. If you know why you are there and are under no pretenses, then I see no reason why you would not be satisfied. By satisfied, I mean stuffed full of naan.

One of the best Indian’s I’ve ever been to. Friendly service, interesting but familiar menu. Popadums were crisp and the lime pickle divine — a good sign for quality! Started with the Prawn Purée — prawns in sauce encased in deep-fried bread. Delicious! Lamb vindaloo was delicately flavoured and hot. The house white wine was quite sweet but slipped down fine. And all for £20 a piece — highly recommend.
