Cookies & Cream

Came here at 12:30 pm on a weekday hoping for some decent cakes but was told none were ready for takeaway yet as they were all still frozen. If I wanted cheap frozen cakes I’d go to Tesco. No thanks.

Don’t believe the name. The place is named cookies and cream, yet it doesn’t offer Oreos to put as a topping. Oh, and the actual cookies and cream has virtually no Oreos in it. It’s basically a tub of vanilla with a spec of Oreo. Definitely does not do its namesake justice.

I wanted to visit this place as I was craving waffles since not having any for a long time being away from Amsterdam. And upon reading reviews, I was persuaded to give this place a try.
I thought I was about to walk in to what looked like a dessert café from the outside, when in fact I walked in to what seemed like a strip club — black walls, dark chocolate seats, fuchsia pink glitter tiles, dark lights, cheap décor and just around the corner is a wall of irrelevant colourful disco lights, like in that Justin Timberlake music video — You know which one!!!
Anyways, to round up my experience — it’s a tasteless disorganised place run by even more disorganised men with terrible customer service skills and no clue about their own business (upon asking questions about their deserts).
I ordered a Belgium waffle and cappuccino. The waffle was overcooked, flavourless, and overall tasted cheap. I don’t actually know what upset me more, the fact that it tasted like a stale biscuit or the fact that I was expecting 2waffles for the hefty £5.95 asking price, but no — it was just the one, not even a whole one. Whoever made my waffle was stingy on the waffle mix, I got ¾ of my waffle. Sad times.
The ice cream tasted like milky water. The coffee tasted just ERRRRRR! That bad that I couldn’t even drink it.
I suppose the best bit of my waffle experience at Cookies and Cream was the hilarity that there was no Cookies! X

Too many morons working the counter to get any decent service. Run down seating. Unclean. Pastries lack variety. Gets extra star for location.

This was a really cute dessert spot. I had the caramel tart and custard, which was something really different for me. I’m not used to custard. It came hot in a mug and you pour it all over the tart. It was really rich and I should have shared, but everyone I was with wanted their own dish. I’d love to go back.

The cakes and drinks are heavenly. However, I agree with ammy33dj that the prices are a little steep. That is not a problem for me because everything is delicious and always fresh.
