A pretty depressing place, really. I wanted a cheap quick supper so looked around on Qype and this was one of the nearest to where I was. I suppose a problem is that I am often in Spain so have the luxury of real tapas and the associated delights of that way of eating. La Tasca is just a big chain churning out Spanish theme food. I ordered Tortilla, garlic prawns, a steak thing and calamares plus some mineral water. The whole thing was £25 and I would be amazed if any of it was prepared on the premises rather than pre-cooked and reheated. The staff were slow and disinterested, sitting down and chatting instead of catering to the needs of customers. Not good.

We came here for dinner a few weeks ago. I’ve left it too long to write the review so can’t say much about the food other than that it was great, and its a bit like Indian tapas, you need 4 or 5 dishes between 2 people

I’ve been to La Tasca in Marylebone yesterday with my brother and his girlfriend. They came to visit me from Germany and wanted to see Madame Tussauds. As La Tasca is quite close to this sightseeing attraction it may be a good place to have some lunch after visiting the wax models On my iPhone I checked the reviews for the place before we went in and saw that they weren’t all good — but we still wanted to give it a chance. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice. From the outside it is currently under construction so you rather not sit on one of the few tables outside. At La Tasca you get Tapas — small spanish dishes — snacks. The service was very friendly and brought the menu. They had a special offer where you could choose 5 different Tapas(from a selected list) for £ 10. Us 3 choosed 10 different Tapas for £ 20. A reasonable price. I can’t remember what exactly we ordered but I still know that we really loved the garlic mayo, the chicken(in beer dough), some potatoes with a tomato sauce, the aubergines au gratin and the all time favourite: the mushrooms! We ordered some bread with oil & vinegar on the side which was okay but nothing special. Next time we rather choose the bread with garlic oil which costs extra. But there was not enough bread. 3 people, 10 tapas and 6 pieces of bread is OKAY, but if you’r really hungry than its not enough! 5 Tapas(one of the special offers) plus bread for 2 people is definitely not enough! As it says on the menu you should have 3 – 4 Tapas per person. I think that 4 is more likely — even 5 if your really hungry. As single tapas(outside the special offers) cost about £ 5 each — the prices aren’t that cheap anymore I had some white wine on the side which was nothing special. Probably a £ 8 bottle from the supermarket. The small(I think 0.175 l) glass costed £ 4.8. My companions had normale Coca Cola for £ 2.6 each. The service was very nice at all times! We ordered a lot of Tapas without looking exactly at everything in there. As we were served the waiter said chicken paella with seafood which made me curiousWe didn’t order any seafood — at least we didn’t want too As it turned out there was some seafood in a paella labeled under chicken tapas. The service was very nice and replaced this dish with something different(we could choose) for free! Two more things I have to say in this kinda large review: First if you go there you want to sit on the real chairs with the real tables instead of the barrels. These are not quite as comfy as they may look like. The restrooms in this place are very clean by the way. Secondly I want to encourage you to try out the place Sunday-Tuesday from 5−9pm. They have Tapas-Eat-as-much-as-you-can for a tenner then. In conclusion I have to say that the food and service have been really good in La Tasca in Marylebone. The prices are okay and I think that especially in the area you can’t find anything MUCH cheaper. Still I think that the portions served are too little and if you can’t find any special offer to please you than you easily pay £ 30 per person(if your really hungry)…

This restaurant was chosen by our work colleagues because tapas are meant to make for a quick and cheap lunch. Menus: the waitress provided us with three different menus: 1) £10 for all you can eat, 2) a large parties menu 12.75−21.75 and 3) a regular menu with complete selection. After the group reviewed the menus, the waitress said it would get too complicated and confusing in the kitchen and so took away menus 1 and 3. Menu 2 was limited and expensive, so we had to push for menu 1. Service: the manageress and waitress brought out 75% of the food and drink that was ordered, claiming that it was on the way, even when the final bill was being processed. Ambience: apart from our group, the restaurant was empty. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, which made guests feel uncomfortable. Total Bill: The waitress had added a few drink items to the bill that were never served. The manageress had also cheekily added a mandatory 10% gratuity reserved for groups of 8, when there were 7 of us eating at our table! When asked to remove the service charge, the manageress obliged. If this restaurant cannot cope with a small group booking, I don’t know how they will cope with a full restaurant, seeing that the seating capacity is 100+. The portions are slightly smaller than La Tasca restaurants at Covent Garden and Oxford Circus. The taste of the food, however, was good, and what you would expect of La Tasca.

I feel a bit unsure about giving this place 3 stars. Part of the La Tasca chain its good value for goodish food. Our waiter brought the beer and prosecco ordered quickly however there was absolutely no bubles left in the glass brought and when i pointed this out to him he acted surprised but even a blind man could tell the glass was warm and flat. When he offered to bring me another glass i demurred stating that it would most likely come from the same warm flat bottle and that i’d have a glass of rioja instead. This was a very generous glass of delicious red wine and iour table was happy for a while. We ordered 5 tapas plates between us, 2 steaks, a chicken, a paella and gambas pil pil. The best dish was the gambas pil pil super hot and sizzling away in their oil the paella was also good and my steak at least was hot if not very tast but a good size with lots of fried potato. My partner in crime did not fair so well, both his steak and his chicken were cold and had to be sent back. But once returned he said his chicken was really quite good and the steak so so, but one should never order any meat but chicken in value restaurants. The bill for two with 1 glass of red wine, 5 tapas and a beer came to £28. Value for money and our waiter was very patient in spite of our complaints.
