There are not many places were you can find gluten free pasta. So I am giving 5*. I loved the carbonara pasta. Tasty as any other normal pasta. So if you are gluten intolerant, and love pasta, this is the place to go to.

Coco Mushroom in da house! Love it more than I love my cat! And that’s saying something being a woman in her early 30s with a cat… you know what else makes me happy? Dat cappuccino tho! Really good! Or maybe it’s the way the barista guy flirts with me and makes me feel less pathetic about being a woman in her early 30s with a cat… whatever it is, stuffs good. Go there during your lunch and have a bit of food and a bit of coffee and a bit of an ego boost. Because, isn’t that what food & coffee are supposed to do? Make you feel good? 5 stars for yum factor.

Like other Unilocalers have said, Coco di Mama is quick service lunchtime pasta aimed squarely at the office workers in the area. The menu is simple, but being all fresh they have changing daily specials, which is good for a change from the usual bolognaise, pesto and pomodoro. I went for the special of balsamic chicken, which was small pieces of chicken in a tomato based sauce, with farfalle bow tie pasta(although you can’t select the type of pasta you want). I also had chilli oil and parmesan cheese, which are free of charge extras. The food was pretty good, considering the cost and location(£5.40 for a large serve). There was a lot of oil left in the bottom of the container when I’d finished, so it’s probably not something you’d want to eat everyday. It’s definitely recommended if you occasionally want some quick, tasty and relatively cheap pasta.

Oh my goodness! I have found my new favourite lunch place! As an Italian food enthusiast(especially pasta) I can not tell you how good it is to find this place. It is so hard to find a reasonably priced place to get fresh, delicious pasta during the day. I actually visited the brand new restaurant on Margaret Street which is a delight — lovely staff. This place ticks all the boxes — amazing food, price and service. If there is a loyalty scheme sign me up now! I think I am going to be a repeat customer.

Reasonably priced and a good list of options to choose from — pasta, salads, baguettes and soups. I opted for the chicken pesto pasta. I was a little disappointed to find that the chicken was just put on the top of the pasta and they weren’t mixed together. The pasta tasted really nice until I got to near the bottom, where there was about a 1 cm of oil. It gets very busy at lunchtime, and luckily I missed the rush and arrived before 12:30, but anyone arriving around then, should be ready to queue.

Really like the place, the coffee, the style. They’ve done an amazing job and it’s not too pricy. I will definitely be back. Came there when it first opened all those years ago, and to be fair the food was terrible. I’ve been back since. It’s much better. It’s the place to be in the City. Staff are friendly and a good place to sit down and relax. I’m a big fan of their Salads, the Mozzarella one is very good. The Chocolate Mousse is great too. Good place to know.

The value, portion size, and good service were overshadowed a bit by the plain pasta fare. While other reviewers have noted the fresh flavors I was plainly unimpressed with the bland tastes coming from my meatball with red sauce. This one pasta will not completely remove Coco di Mama from my lunch radar. The sandwiches looked unique and that will be the direction I move for my next visit.

Okay… I’ll admit it… the first time I went in to grab a coffee at Coco Di Mama I did not have very high expectations, I was thinking great yet another mediocre pop up on Fleet Street. I’ll also admit that when I saw the owner, in the back of my mind I was thinking I don’t care if the coffees crap I’ll pop back in just to look at him… yes that’s evil. But his charming smile and skill with turning the top of my coffee into a leaf has not swayed my opinion. The coffee is… well…just plan delicious! I’m a bit of a coffee snob, Starbucks coffee taste burnt, Costa is never consistently good, and Café Nero is well… okay. So the taste of hot flat white over my very discerning taste-buds brought a smile to my face and there was joy… bliss… rapture in my mouth. To the point that by the time I made it back to my building I wasn’t thinking about the cute guy behind the counter but going back for more… delicious coffee!!! Sadly, I can’t offer much on the food. The only thing I’ve eaten is a breakfast sandwich… buttered cibatta bread with sliced ham… that was delightful(can’t really go wrong with that combo), especially since I’d run 3 miles the morning I had it and it felt like delicious fuel to get me through the morning. All in all… I’m a fan and if the food is as good as the coffee then Fleet Street has a new institution, the eye candy is just a bonus! :)

This little walk-in Italian lunch joint packs quite a punch! What was initially a 2-star first impression quickly refocused into a 4-star newfound favourite once the friendly staff chimed in, the price-per-portion ratio was revealed and I tucked into my fast, fresh, house-drawn midi pasta with homemade sauce of portobello and chesnut mushrooms in a light porcini sauce. The sauces are different every day and range from spinach & nutmeg to Bloody Mary, which involves sweet tomato sauce with tabasco, worcestershire and vodka. The fresh pasta and fresh sauce really made the difference here. That, and the fact that the cake, brownies and polenta slices are freshly made by a friend of the business and can be washed down with Climpson & Sons coffee. So don’t be surprised when you feel like you’re in Pret. Don’t be surprised when the cold food selections aren’t much different than selections you’d get at any other grab-n-go sando shop. And don’t be surprised when a dish as simple as pasta with sauce knocks your socks off.

I find it disturbing how many Pret a Mangers there are in London. Also its friend Itsu and others like Eat, Wasabi. Really, it’s scaring me. Is this food somehow subliminally making Londoners into robots? Anyway, as I nearly got run over by a bus on the way to Boots the other week I spotted this place and gave it a try. First impressions: staff extremely nice, pasta(bolognese) very tasty(get the chili oil and parmesan, you’re worth it). They somehow have the portions exactly right — for me midi pasta with a side salad is perfectly satisfying, and I eat a lot. More recently I got the carbonara — I was nervous about this because it has mushrooms in it, and I don’t really like mushrooms, and also carbonara is one of the few dishes I can decently make so I didn’t want to waste a meal out on something I could do myself. But I found it delicious — I actually ENJOYED the mushrooms it was so tasty. On some days they do blue cheese carbonara — I might even have to follow them on facebook to make sure I get in on that. Also their lasagna which is always a sell out. They also do sandwiches and salads although I doubt I will ever trade up the pasta made-on-premises. I don’t know enough about pasta to say you can taste the difference, but I am going to anyway. So in conclusion, I would say this is a great lunch option versus the same old Pret wrap. It’s also not that expensive and they have nice touches like jugs of water with lemons or mint in them. Glad to see a quality business like this doing well. Note: I would not recommend purchasing both a can of Coke and a bag of chocolate covered espresso balls at this establishment, and then consuming them both by the end of Friday afternoon. This makes you feel like you’re going to start the weekend with a heart attack.

New fast Italian place, quite small think they’re mostly going for the lunch takeaway market as there is not much seating. 2 choices of pasta(fusili or penne) plus a choice of about 4 sauces(e.g. bolognese, pesto, carbonara, pomododro). My midi bolognese came as a very small tub of pasta, I have quite a small appetite and even I wasn’t full after it. Also the bolognese wasn’t very sauce-y so it was a clump of mince on top of naked pasta and it was difficult combining the two as the pasta had clagged together. Really I would recommend just frying an onion, some garlic and mince together and adding a jar of passata/can of chopped tomatoes at home. It will be just as, if not more tasty, than Coco di Mama and more importantly you will be able to serve yourself a decent portion.
