A lovely shop owned by a lovely woman who just won’t let you buy something if it looks horrible on you, or if you’re not going to love it as much as someone else might. How nice to find someone who won’t just tell you something looks great to secure a sale. She really understands the one-off nature of vintage clothes and will always suggest something that I hadn’t noticed on the hanger but which actually looks brilliant on. I’ve now got a selection of fun 60s little black dresses from here but also some fab blouses and summer frocks. It’s not dirt cheap but everything is good quality and in good condition and prices are very reasonable. Plus if you buy a few things you may be able to do a little deal. One of the best of its kind in London.

Cloud Cuckoo Land is a genuinely lovely little vintage boutique just off Islington’s Camden Passage, complete with something rather rare in London: equally lovely and charming staff. Filled with fifties prom dresses, Art Deco boleros, antique embroidered kimonos and a rather fabulous selection of vintage outer wear, Cloud Cuckoo Land is accessible, friendly, and beautifully stocked and should be a must on your vintage itinerary if you find yourself in upmarket N1. Unsurprisingly perhaps, Cloud Cuckoo Land is not cheap. An original fifties silk chiffon dress will set you back around £85, a sequin encrusted twenties bolero £120-ish, but if you’re looking to invest in some high end vintage then Cloud Cuckoo Land is the place to do it.
